Large portions of the food is served, but the quality is not that great for the price. Knorr chicken cubes are added to food and they are not properly dissolved in the food. You get the bites of them here and there in the food. Not worth the price at all.

Cozy beach cafe with tables on beach and free sunbeds! I had my best Pina colada here with local rum+fresh pineapple juice+ pure coconut milk only for 700 rps (compared with hotel price it was great value for such place with amazing sunset views)! Ordered one curry portion for 2 ladies, as portions are really big and comes with sides and rice (king fish curry 2000rps, calamari curry with cashew nuts, ayurvedic vegetable curry around 1600rps), guys ordered local kottu (big portion), also trie fish chopsy with rice (850rps), local bread for all of us as a snack garlic rotti 450rps, fresh juices around 400rps. Everithyng clean and served as in restaurant and really delicius! Been there many times during our stay in Bentota! They also have choice of fresh seafood grill. Tips for meat lovers- menu have only dishes with seafood un veggies.Higly recomended to visit and enjoy!

Obviously this place is for the sports event people below who wants food after vigorous activities. We came here for lunch after requesting local good food, after waiting 60 mins and being the only customer on the 2nd deck, I gave up asking when it's coming as no one ever came and explained why the food was late. The waiter who took my order finally came up and explained that the chef misunderstood the order was for 1 set instead of 2 similar sets. Hello, we are the only customer and you can't get the only order right! My wife later had gastric problem due to the late food servings and I was more frustrated. I will rate u terrible if not for the diligent hardworking 16yrs old boy who cleaned the plates and spoon one by one before serving. I admired his work dedication and the restaurant can definitely learn from this young chap on what's service instead. Otherwise please close down and don't waste anymore tourist time and money!

How often do you get to sit down with the owner and chef of a restaurant and discuss the meal you are going to have? It's a lovely location with super views over the Bentota River. OK there's a few steps to negotiate and it's not air-conditioned (No windows) because you get the benefit of the sea breezes but the food is great and you can have a super chat with the patron and chef.I can recommend this place for a meal when you're in this area because you are guaranteed a good meal at very reasonable prices and a very warm welcome!

We ate here a number of times during our visit to Bentota. The food is excellent with fresh seafood bought directly from the harbour. Great Sri Lankan curries at local prices (not like many of the other places in the area). I would recommend the devilled prawns! We also had a very tasty lobster Thermidor. They have a range of European/Indian/Indonesian/Chinese etc foods. We also came for Sri Lankan breakfast one day which was excellent. Nice seating inside (there is an upstairs as well) and fully air conditioned. Mixture of local people and tourists inside which was nice. The owner is lovely and always around to make sure you're enjoying your food! Highly recommended - we'll be back next time we're in Sri Lanka

I ordered the sea food fried rice at LKR 800, this was served as steamed rice with 2 very small prawns a few pieces of cuttle fish and a fancy cut tomato on top with no other sea food. I complained to one. of the 2 staff in the restaurant and a Sri Lankans at a neighbouring table had apparently also complained in Sinhalese to the waiter. All the waiter did was to bring back the menu pointing out the price.My wife had the devilled cuttlefish which was acceptable but expensive at LKR 900.We certainly will not be going back to this restaurant.

For our last meal in Sri Lanka we opted to stay on property and dine at the Oriental Pavilion. We were there when they opened at 7 pm as we had a 23 month old with us. The service was solid as was the food. We shared a crab cake appetizer, soup and kung pao chicken with rice. In short - all were good and we would dine here again if in Bentota.

This place is the highlight of my 9 days at Taj Bentota. All the staff was so friendly and they even went above and beyond to make drumstick leave sandwich for me as I tested their service.I met Rana in person and he is so humble and helped out with anything we needed. It was such a great atmosphere and food was better than 5 star restaurants and resorts in this area. I hope to be in touch with these guys and they really gave us a very memorable time in Bentota. Thank you Nila Rana and rest of the team.
