Ok - so this restaurant was the main reason why I created my Tripadvisor account in the first place. Yes, it's true, this review is slightly overdue (just by an year or so ), however my memories are still very vivid of what was an epic night! My partner and I arrived to this restaurant via tuc tuc in a secluded area of Bentota. The staff greeted us with a warm welcoming smile, like most Srilankans we met during our trip. They sat us down in what I think was the best table in the house: a small raft moored to land in the middle of a lake. The place was surreal, at night everything became pitch dark but with the help of candles and the right lighting the ambience was great. I ate one of the best lobsters in my life (and with all modesty I have a decent track record when it comes to eating lobster!). We were both extremely pleased by the evening and if things havenât changed since then this restaurant is definitely 5 star!Thanks your mail. Francisco . We like to see you. Again sri lanka. . I loved this place all while I was in Bentota. If you want to have authentic Sri Lankan cuisine then I recommend you to check this place out. Itâs a very simple place, nothing fancy yet that traditional charm and tasty food would won you over.

We were a group of 8 looking and wandered into this restaurant for a late lunch.We ordered some beers and some placed at least 7 different orders for lunch. The beer came and we waited for the food. And waited... After 35 mins I went in to inquire..It's coming' was the reply, 'just 3 more minutes' which turned into 20.It finally arrived and we fell upon it like we had never eaten before. I know I had the barracuda steak I do't know what the others had! But we polished the plates off! The food was good but then we were so hungry anything would have tasted good!I would probably have given it 4 stars had the service been prompt. :)

We visited on 24/09/19 for Dinner and was shown to a lovely front balcony table for 2 overlooking the Railway tracks .My wife loves the seafood in Sri Lanka and was shown a lovely fresh Mullet which she had grilled and filleted served with rice,salad,fries and fresh roti with garlic.The fish was cooked to perfection and everything was hot and tasty .I had a couple of cold beers and a large rum/coke .The Staff were excellent and good fun to dine with.This was our second visit to Mallies (April 2019 ) and Iâm happy to say it is as good as ever .Keep up the good work guys and we will see you again some time soon .Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a beautiful review and you 5 star rating. when we are sri lanka in march After reading the other reviews we went to have our lunch .but its wrong. sea food not fresh, also over cooked fish. The restaurant area is very basic, they have limited alcohol.disappointed

This place is the highlight of my 9 days at Taj Bentota. All the staff was so friendly and they even went above and beyond to make drumstick leave sandwich for me as I tested their service.I met Rana in person and he is so humble and helped out with anything we needed. It was such a great atmosphere and food was better than 5 star restaurants and resorts in this area. I hope to be in touch with these guys and they really gave us a very memorable time in Bentota. Thank you Nila Rana and rest of the team.

Booked for dinner after many phone calls not being answered. Had the special garlic prawns which were tiny and tasted like they had been cooked in marmite served with a slice of white toast?!? Then ordered Thai chicken curry which my friend said was tasty. My tuna was so tough I sent it back. Told I would have a new one in 2 mins. After 15 mins when friend had finished eating and the table was cleared I went to find out where mine was. It arrived several minutes later stone cold. Sent it back and didnât pay for it. This place should not be no1. Try sunshine instead and see my review Would not recommend jungleDear valued guest, thank you for taking time to review Jungle Beach Ahungalla. We are sorry that you had this experience at our restaurant. As you can see in our menu the Sweet & Spicy Prawns are a starter, so they are not big sized and that they are served with toast. We are having very clear rules that our service should sell tuna steaks only when they are very fresh, so that they don't get tough. This was definitely our mistake and the management has taken action already. This should not happen anymore. Also it is not possible for our kitchen to prepare a new tuna steak in 2 minutes. Also there for we have taken action and excuse the wrong information of our service staff. He should have offered you a sear fish steak as an alternative.So it would be great to see you once again. You would definitely revisit your review. Thank you and have a nice day!
