Top 10 Campgrounds in Indiana, United States

April 18, 2023 Brandee Mangan

With beaches, boating, and salmon fishing in Michigan City and Gary bordering Lake Michigan, there is more to Indiana than might appear at first glance. The agricultural heartland even has cross country skiing and snowmobiling to go with the Cornball Express. Southwest Indiana near Evansville is renowned for the well-preserved Native American Angel Mounds State Historic Site. The largest city and state capital is famous worldwide for its Indianapolis 500 race. Even locals living in the suburbs often overlook the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Eiteljorg Museum, NCAA Hall of Champions, the old Union Station museum cluster, and downtown Canal Walk, to name but a few landmarks. South Bend is synonymous with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Forested Nashville’s art colony fame dates to the early 1900s when Impressionist Theodore Clement Steele overwintered in The House of the Singing Winds. It is now the T.C. Steele State Historic Site. View paintings and sculpture at the I.M. Pei-designed Indiana University Museum of Art. Attend an IU sports event or an opera, ballet, concert, or theater performance. Treat the family to The Little Nashville Opry or The Bill Monroe Bluegrass Park. For healing mineral springs, head south to Orange County, Indiana’s spa resort center.Enjoy golf, fishing, boating, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice skating in the nation’s agricultural heartland. Monticello and Rensselaer are west of Logansport and north of Lafayette. Take the family on the Cornball Express and Hoosier Hurricane at the Indiana Beach Amusement Resort in Monticello. Play boardwalk carnival games, or let the kids loose on the go-carts. Pile the family into their vehicles for an old-fashioned movie experience at Monticello’s Lake Shore Drive-In. Indulge in a weekend dinner boat cruise to hot band sounds as the Madam Carroll plies Lake Freeman.

Anniversary getaway

My husband and I had a fantastic time at Serenity Springs on our anniversary getaway. When we arrived, there was a balloon for us by the spa. We were awed by how beautiful the Paris cabin was: the curtains were open when we arrived. We were ecstatic that the porch was just about on the lake. We loved that we could feed the ducks & geese from the porch, ride bikes and walk the property, which we did many times! Everything was just as it shows on the website. We definitely want to come back again for a longer stay! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

WILL NOT ACCEPT 1 NIGHT STAYS!!!

This is a courtesy call to this business to update their website that doesn't disclose a minimum night stay other than holidays. When I stated their website made no mention of single night stays Mr. Colucci laughed before hanging up the call. Not a good way to do business. Buyer beware. They do not off these services. It is not listed in their term agreements. (I have stayed at Buzzards Roost lodge several times in years past as a frequent customer. never left a bad review. But I believe this warranted one)

Well taken care of campground

Reviewed By EvBeE

Arrived at 3:15 pm. It is a huge campground. It has around 550 plus camp sites. There was no one in the office to check us in and we had to wait 15-20 minutes for someone to show up. We had full hookups which was nice. Most of the sites are pull through sites. We were surprised how many of the campsites were full for early October. Well located. Well maintained. We were visiting the area to take a tour of an RV company in Goshan, Indiana and this was one of the best rated sites. It is 30 minutes to Goshan.

Pleasant Surprise

Reviewed By lilybee78

We stayed here for three nights while visiting our son at college in Terre Haute. We booked a two person cabin and were pleasantly surprised at this cozy camp site. The cabin was adorable, equipped with a comfy bed, mini fridge, a tv (had trouble making it work, but we didn't try too hard. :) a patio with a fire pit and charcoal grill, and a lovely wooded walking path right in our back yard. The bathroom/showers were clean and within a stone's throw of the cabin, and the camp store and clubhouse were adorably decorated for the fall season. We ran into the owners and their super polite kids a few times. They made us feel right at home by lighting a nice fire in the clubhouse and chatting with us while we played pool and darts. We will definitely return, as this was a pleasant stay for sure.

Need something to make your stay more enjoyable? Just ask. That's the attitude at this campground, which includes a mix of grassy and shady sites - most wide enough to handle slideouts. Check out Kamp K9 for your pup. On summer weekends, kids meet for crafts, games, hayrides and movies - if you can pull them out of the pool. Parties fill the calendar, including hot dog cookouts, ice cream socials and a big chicken barbecue and corn roast in August. The region is packed with historic treasures. Find some yourself at Antique Alley, a 33-mile stretch with more than 900 dealers. Tour the 1839 red-brick home, called the "Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad," where Levi and Catharine Coffin hid 2,000 runaway slaves. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 70 feet. Your hosts: Keith and Bonnie Diesing.

What a gem!

Stopped here for an overnight on our way to the Indy 500. What a great campground! Danielle and Dirk were SO nice and helpful. The grounds are well kept and there is something to do for everyone. Cornhole, ping pong, swimming pool, sandbox with toys, walking trail and a beautiful little pond with fountain. The rate for a site with water and electric was an extremely reasonable $60!! Very nice, clean restrooms and showers. We are so glad we stumbled on to this little gem! Speaking of gems, they even have a sluice box set up so you can sift bags of sand/gravel for gems. What a novel idea! We had an issue with funky potable water in our RV and Dirk helped us through the process of dumping and treating the tank. All the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. If you are in the Richmond IN vicinity and like to camp or need a way station, you won’t be sorry you stayed here.
