Friendly welcome and nice surroundings

Travelling with two kids and my wife, we enjoyed this location immensely. The reception lady was friendly and tolerant of my awful french. The location is pretty and great for kids with a pool, mini farm and activities on site. We stayed in a caravan which was snug and warm with a heater left on for us. They even offered to upgrade us so we had a kitchen, which was nice. Would return again.

Great site

Reviewed By Sara_maccl

My first time at a smaller and ‘only’ 3 star camping and I was not sure to expect. It turned out great. The camping site was conviently located and our mobil home clean and convenient. No bakery but the option to order baked goods for the next day. Food from the take out was decent as well. Langres is a very nice little city to visit while you’re there.

Great stopover location

Reviewed By ridlem_r

We were lucky enough to find this campsite in the last few days of its season. Virtually empty on our first night we were lucky enough to enjoy the stunning views overlooking the lake from our pitch and we had the more than adequate facilities almost to ourselves. Easy to access in our 7.4m motorhome, the campsite was well located for cycling and watersports. We enjoyed the onsite swimming pools, the 16km trail around the lake and a stunning sunset kayak to a nearby beach (although carrying our inflatable kayak from the site to the lake was challenging); for the 2 days we were there we were spoilt with things to do and we wished for a couple more nights to have been able to visit Langres and other nearby attractions. Staff were incredibly friendly and discreet. It's certainly on our list of sites to visit again.

Camping Hautoreille

Simply a great find.

Reviewed By benhD5420DG

If you are looking for a swimming pool, extensive amusements, a disco for the kids every night, karaoke etc. then Camping Hautoreille is not for you. On the other hand, if you want a friendly welcome on a spotlessly clean site with large emplacements (and cows in the field next door!) - this is ideal. The site is very convenient as it is close to the motorway running north/south between Troyes and Dijon. It is therefore used a lot as an overnight stop but is just as good for a longer stay. We were there in a group with our three children, their husbands/wives and six grandchildren and we extended our stay for several days as we enjoyed it so much. There is a bar and restaurant on site which is good value and bread and baked goods delivered each morning for a 'proper' French breakfast. Five minutes drive away is a lac formed by a dam with a pleasant small beach, kayaks for hire and opportunities to fish. Parking there was free and plentiful. I would have no hesitation whatever in recommending a stay at this campsite - a real gem of a find.

Camping Les Hirondelles

quiet place to relax after a long ride

Reviewed By maaikesietz

We stayed a few nights in a wooden cabin, "Gite les Hirondelles" (booked by the camping website, not via Booking.com) on our way back to the Netherlands. Good value for the price (just 30 euros a night): cosy place with a double bed, kitchen/living-room and toilet. Showers in the building next door. Very friendly, helpful owners. Everything spotless clean. Play area for children with nice view on the hills. Spacious pitches for tents and caravans. We're glad that we did not stay only night like many passengers did: this is an underestimated, green and hilly area. There is enough to explore for a few days, especially for those who like unspoiled places without too many tourists. The camping reception can provide you with information on the area. We visited the old Town of Bourmont and the nearby "Foret le Roches" (a very beautiful park with nice views and rocks), and a parc with the ruins of Forteresse de la Mothe, nearby Bourmont. We will come back to explore more, on our way to the South of France.

Camping Le Lac d'Orient

Camping Le Lac d’Orient welcomes you in the Aube, in the region of Champagne-Ardenne, at the heart of the Nature Park La Forêt d’Orient. In Mesnil-Saint-Père, a few kilometres from Troyes, this completely renovated campsite (2009) will offer you a great balance of comfort and nature. The 212 spacious (about 110 m²) and ‘grand confort’ camping pitches for tents, caravans and caravans of our campsite spread on a wooded site near the famous Lac d’Orient. The more or less shaded pitches are provided with modern facilities. Located at the junction of motorways A5 and A6 and just 12 km from the exit, this campsite is particularly easy to access, making it the ideal stopover on the way to your holiday destination. Camping Le Lac d’Orient will definitely charm you for a longer stay, to explore the area filled with traditions and gastronomy.

We used this campsite for 1 night on our way to Calais. We wished we found it earlier or stayed a few nights. The kids had a huge bouncy castle. Swimming pool. Well stocked shop, restaurant/bar. Great location, with the lake across the road. Pitch was great size with electric and water. Showers/toilets were very clean and felt new. Best out of the 6 campsites we had visited. We will be back!

Really convenient campsite in the middle of the city. Private pitches with individual water and electricity. Very friendly and helpful staff. Toilet/showers have been updated and were very clean. There is a small snack bar on site that’s is also convenient. Just up the road is a bakery and a convenience store. 15min walk away is a large ish shopping mall with supermarket. Stopped off for 2 nights on the way back to the UK in our motorhome.

The room was pretty sweet and the way all up was a little adventure. The breakfast was a good start in the day for hiking in this beautiful area. We will come again for sure! :)

Really poor, even at the low price

Reviewed By Grayson77

The saying “you get what you pay for” has never been more true. This ultra cheap site appears to be populated by 3 types of people: elderly couples who have taken up permanent residence in (very nice) chalets, French teenagers here to drink themselves silly and party - in a tent in the Ardennes?! - and depressed families who can’t believe their misfortune at ending up surrounded by the enfants terrible. After several sleepless nights enduring loud music and drunken shouting until 4am - staff had no interest in enforcing their own rules about silence after 10pm - we were firmly in the third group. The facilities are pretty basic: only a few toilets without soap, toilet paper, and on one day water, and limited and tired-looking play equipment. The restaurant was a bizarre 1920s themed affair completely lacking in atmosphere or customers. The pool wasn’t bad and the bouncy castles were enjoyed by the kids but the lack of staff supervision at either meant ‘Lord of the Flies’ style scenarios quickly develop at both. If you need somewhere to break up the journey and you get lucky with your pitch then this place will do as a one night pit-stop. If you plan on staying longer, well at least at €20 per night you won’t feel too bad about leaving early!

Lovely tranquil well kept site

Had a great 3 night stay here in a 4 person refurbished gite which was fresh and bright and well equipped. The site is well kept and very green. Beautiful trout fishing lake beside the restaurant. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I think it has recently been bought out and the new owner has lots of plans to improve the site and restaurant without losing its natural charm.
