We really enjoyed our stay here, well located opposite the river next to the old walls. The location is excellent in relation to the main shopping street and large square. Staff were very friendly and helpful and parking was easy. Plenty of hot water, comfortable bed, lovely sheets and towels. The only niggle was patchy wifi.

What a find. Highly recommended

We stayed in the Hostal Don Rodrigo overnight on route to Portugal. What a find. Clean, lovely rooms and well appointed. Had the misfortune of two of the family coming down with food poisoning from a restaurant from the previous night, and the hotel were so accommodating. They allowed us to have an extra 2 hours in one of the rooms so we could recover. A lovely gesture and very grateful for the extra time.

Satisfacción

Reviewed By Carlos E

The wifi is very slow I went to the bathroom inthe early hours and noted small thingsmoving on the floor. We cut our two night stay to one and went

Don’t pass up this place

There are some establishments that you visit and don’t really have strong feelings about their success. This is NOT one of them. I can’t say enough good things about this small hotel. The owner welcomed me with a bottle of cider and was friendly and concerned from the start. I speak very basic Spanish and I don’t think he spoke any English- but his concern for me as a client was impressive. He made sure that I saw all the aspects of the hotel - TV room and kitchen area. Breakfast and dinner are available for clients. Perhaps lunch as well. The dinner that came with the room was simple but great. Vegetable soup Pork with fried potatoes and two eggs Tomato apple salad Banana for desert Coffee and water and wine Also very good crusty bread. The rooms are immaculate with comfortable beds. There are no TVs in the room and I don’t think there is WIFI (but I didn’t ask) The hotel is about 1-2 K south of the town on the main highway. So if you are walking the Camino you have to cut over to the highway before you get to town. The property looks new so I hope the hotel is a great success!!

Very chic chiqui

Reviewed By Teabag

We were given a very large pretty room in this hostal which had been cleverly divided into two by the careful arrangement of the wardrobes and desks. It would be perfect for a family and It was very clean and beautifully decorated. As the room faced on to the internal patio there was no street noise despite it being right in the centre of the town only a ten minute walk from the historic sites one way, the local tapas bars the other and a small cafe perfect for breakfast and snacks just at the end of the street. Unfortunately there was some noise during the early hours of the morning from what I assume was a resident returning to a different hostal based above Chiqui. This incident was totally beyond our owner's control who had given us a warm welcome and took great pains to explain everything fully and provide us with information about Zamora and a discount for the parking at the nearby plaza. I would definitely recommend a stay here if visiting Zamora. It was better than a lot of four star hotels I have stayed in.

Simple enough, good enough

Reviewed By Santi P

When you book a "Hostal" for about 40€ a night in the modern part of Zamora, you know more or less what to expect: a tidy simple hostel to spend a night or two, with no luxuries but no complains either. That is exactly what you will find at Hostal Sol: a clean room with two comfortable beds, a nice en-suite bathroom, a few toiletries, free wifi, air conditioning (which was really useful since it was quite a hot day)... and that's that. No breakfast (but there are a few cafes around), no room service or even reception service after 23.00... But also nothing unpleasant or uncomfortable. The guy who received us at the reception was quite nice, although he didn't seem very used to the job (he didn't even identify correctly the hostal in the city map). The only problem with this hotel is that it can get a little noisy, specially if there is a group of young boys and girls who come back shouting at 6 a.m. and decide to take a shower in the room next door. It is also a bit far from the historical part of town, although Zamora is quite small, so you get there in 5-10 minutes... But apart from that, good enough.
