It is modern, clean, conveniently located and a really good value for money (for West European standards). The breakfast is a Bulgarian take on the continental type, but fresh and delicious. I will definitely stay there again.

Poseidon hotel Golden Sands - very good
Reviewed By PaulhawtinAbsolutely fantastic place. The owner (Anton) and his wife are very friendly and helpful. The location is peaceful and quiet. The hotel has a bar and restaurant - the food is lovely and the menu has a good selection of different food to eat. The drinks are cheap with different types of whiskey etc to try. You have a 15 minute walk down to the beach. Golden Sands is a great resort with plenty of places to eat and drink. My room is very nice - great value for money. It`s clean and the WiFi is excellent. The hotel is quiet at night and this ensures you can get a good nights sleep. As for one poster on here that said the room had human waste in it - what a load of rubbish. The hotel is spotless and very clean. As a Destination Expert for Bulgaria on Trip Advisor I have stayed in many hotels in the country - some good and some bad. However I will give the Poseidon 10 out of 10. I look forward to returning and I will certainly recommend the place to family and friends. Best, Paul

Unprofessional owner

At 16:00 I book a night for the same day, I received the booking confirmation but at 20:30 I received an SMS from the owner that they are fully booked. Bad for me. Having my notifications on mute for SMS I did not see the message, I drove all the way to the property and called them to know that I can’t have the booking I did. I reported this on booking and I hope this will not happen again for someone else. As an advice, make sure you give them a bell before going there, just in case to not waste your time as me.

Nice location but rundown
Reviewed By yavori300I discovered Just rooms & wine in 2018 while searching for a central place to stay in Varna. I was nicely surprised by the then fresh interior design and kept coming back every summer. I'm afraid I won't go back after my last experience. I booked a small double room via booking.com as the description said it was 5 x 6 m on size. In reality it was a tiny loft room, more likely like 4 m 3 m. I asked for a replacement and was offered another double room with a small extra fee, which I accepted. The room was a bit bigger but there was constantly cigarette smoke coming through the bathroom. I got woken up in the middle of the night by the smoke on my last day. When I asked the cleaning lady if one can smoke in the hotel I was advised to do it by the window in my room! Enough said... As far as I can tell smoking is illegal in public places in Bulgaria, this hotel is clearly rundown.

Reviewed By KDjenciVery nice hotel. The room was clean and spatious, equipped with everything you would need, great sea view, with a little balcony in front of it. The breakfast was included and it was awesome: very tasty with plenty to choose from to eat and drink. Definitely recommend it.

AND THEN AFTER 30MINS OF WAITING A BLONDE LADY 40+ came and she wasnt able to speak english, we said that we are a bit dissapoiment and we would like to know if can we order, and then SHE JUST TOOK THE MENUS FROM OUR FACE THAT WAS SO RUDE AND NEVER EVER HAPPEND Току-що поставихме на масата, дойде млад човек и ни донесе менютата ... И след това дойде 30 минути за изчакване на BLONDE LADY 40+ и тя не успя да говори английски, казахме, че сме малко разочаровани и бихме искали искам да знаем дали можем да поръчаме и тогава тя ТРЯБВА ДА ВЗЕМЕ МЕНЮТА ОТ НАШЕТО ЛИЦЕ ТОВА БЕШЕ ТОЛКО СКРАСНО И НИКОГА НИКОГА НЕЩО

Not the best introduction to Bulgaria
Reviewed By Sun_treaderI stayed in this hotel for a week in August 2012. I did not write any review then, but I now think I might as well write the first one. The main hotel building is decent enough, with a nicely laid out garden outside. The inn opposite (part of the same complex, but not of the hotel) is meant to look traditional and ‘folksy’, in accordance with the evening shows: dances, fire walking and the like. Being just on the main and very busy road means quite a bit of noise all day and night long. This may be annoying only if your room happens to be on the road side. Mine wasn’t, so I cannot comment on that. Traffic noise can be heard from the garden where people have their meals in summer (it was scorching hot then). It is more of a nuisance at breakfast or lunchtime. In the evening, music is far too loud to let any other noise through... Fortunately, the entertainment bit (same every evening) is all over by midnight, or even earlier, and thereafter I did enjoy quiet nights. The beach is a 15 minutes walk away. Forget about any view from your room. Rooms are OK in a minimal way. They certainly do not justify the high price. Much less does breakfast, which was among the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel: lukewarm, rather tasteless (instant?) coffee in thermos bottles (that were most of the time empty and that members of staff, present but oblivious of customers, did not care to refill unless you called them), a very basic assortment of ham, watermelon, fruit and indeterminate cheese to choose from (but mind the greedy wasps)... Meals in the restaurant are rather good, but those were not included (fortunately: the hotel bill would have skyrocketed). The resort is rather run-down, with extremely little to see or do. Be warned if you care: for a week I came across no Westerners there. The place (and this applies to the hotel as well) appears to cater only for Russian tourists, with a smaller turnout of Bulgarians or Romanians. If you like it crowded and full of ‘attractions’, then Golden Sands, another 10km from St Constantine and Helena, is the right place for you. However, everything will cost you twice as much there.

Great Location, With Some Problems.
Reviewed By Peter LThese apartments (I saw 4 on the same floor) are in a great central location. 5 minutes walk to the beach at the southern tip of Primorski Park, the Maritime museum, 10 min to the Roman Baths and a 15 min walk to the train station (because taxis can be hard to find on a weekday morning in this neighborhood). The building is very quiet and there is a great pub right next door serving good food (simple food) and an extensive beer list at low prices. Note that the apartments are on the 3rd floor and there is no lift. That said, we had a few problems which detracted from our stay. The staff were quick to respond and we made the most of it. 1. We were given room #1 the first night and it is a smoking room. Foreigners such as Americans expect that rooms are non-smoking! (and our online booking said "non-smoking"). The smell was a deal killer for us. The staff moved us the next day to room #4 which was better. 2. The sheets don't fit the bed and came off easily, so you end up on the bare mattress. 3. The pillows are too big and hard - like couch pillows. 4. We had no hot water for some reason and had to call and wait for the hot water heater in our room to be reset. It then worked. Great location and nice staff. With some better maintenance this would be a 4 star rating.
