“Nosy Be?” Is that a typo for “Noisy Bee?” Nope. It means “big island” and it is just that; a large island off the northwest coast of Madagascar. Here you’ll find volcanic lakes, lazy lemurs, rum distilleries, Ylang Ylang plantations and intricate coral reefs that are practically begging to be explored. Flora and fauna lovers will be in seventh heaven at the beautiful Lokobe Nature Special Reserve. Audiophiles should visit in May, to experience the four-day Donia Music Festival.

For the team of the Hotel Gerard and Francine in Nosy Be, Madagascar, reception is an art and you will be received with all of our attention, treated like family; for you we offer a comfortable atmosphere, our reputation for this style of work is irrefutable and has been for the last 25 years in Nosy Be. It is a charming establishment made of modern, cozy, clean guest rooms; snuggle up between the Crater cliffs, the long beach of Ambatoloaka and its lagoon. More than the charm of the hotel here is the charm of an extraordinary garden on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Indien Ocean where you can watch the sunset. It is on this beach, each day, that the Hotel Gerard & Francine was constructed in 1988 amongst the tropical flower gardens and the palms where we enjoy the company of freedom, lemurs, hummingbirds, chameleons. One particular area of attention is providing the decoration of your rooms, using typical Malagasy architecture, traditional construction with wood floors and creole ceilings. Suggested thoughts before your visit here: The sexual tourism is an attack on human dignity, condemned by Malagasy law and International law and the Hotel Gerard et Francine does not tolerate any such violations.
The garden at G&F is tremendous, and the breakfast offered yummy mango and pineapple jam. I had the impression the bill included breakfast, but the hotel applied extra charges at check-out. Also, the food was très French--heavy on the carbs. The bartender, Usa, makes an excellent mojito though. While most staff were friendly, my travel speaker was stolen out of my room when I went to the beach. Luckily, I used the hotel safe for other valuable items. The owner and manager were pretty ambivalent and dismissive of the loss which was quite disappointing. Theft has the tendency to make you paranoid and feel vulnerable. At the same time, even though the town had some excellent dining options, the village is absolutely overrun with older European men exploiting younger Malagasy women or to be honest, vice versa. If you are not into sex tourism (or some sort of related theme), you are an outlier in Ambotoloaka. I would highly suggest staying further up the western coast of the island and visiting the town for a nice meal.

Located in a beautiful colonial style building in the heart of Hell-Ville, Home Sakalava is a small boutique hotel with 6 rooms carefully decorated and personalized, blending natural wood, driftwood, traditional fabrics ... Very good comfort: bathroom with private toilet, shower, hot water, ventilation, flat screen TV 42 "in the common area, free wifi in the rooms.
Reasonably priced and cleaned rooms. The wifi that's available isn't always working or that fast, but they do offer it free. The staff are so friendly and helpful and went out of their way for me, lovely ladies! The hotel is also in good location close enough to everything but strategically located to also be quiet.

We stayed 5 days but we could have stayed 500. The “Case” is located on top of a small hill at just 10-15 min walking from the beach, on the North of the island, which is beautiful and very quiet. Our room was simple, spacious, clean and overall very nice (if you open the door, you can see the ocean from the bed). The view from the rooms and the terrace where meals are served is gorgeous and sunsets over the oceans and Sakatia island breath-taking. Coralie makes very good meals, which change every day. The staff is very friendly. Natalie, the owner, knows everything about the island and is very helpful in providing information and organising activities/excursions. This is the perfect place to make the most of Nosy Be while relaxing in a unique and peaceful place.

This place is Great! Each bungalow overlooks the sea and garden which is full of beautiful, colorful plants everywhere. South Madagasy land turtles roam freely throughout the property and are not afraid of people. A cat family also lives here as do wild birds who come and feed from the perch set outside the dining area. The sunset is beautiful with a wide arrangement of colors like a rainbow and can be seen from most rooms. The rooms have been renovated with strong water pressure, hot water on demand and huge clean bathrooms furnished with towels, toilet paper and soap, and buckets to wash clothes or gear. The rooms open up to the garden, each with a private porch and lounge chairs with a table. Lots of places to hang wet clothes. In the beach of Ambondrona, Tropical Paradise Nosy Be has 8 double sea view rooms and 2 family rooms. The restaurant can serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can admire Sunshine with a tropical cocktail in our bar. We propose many excursions in Nosy Be and also in the around islands. We accept credit card payment.
Wow such a great place ! Right on the beach, beautiful view from your room, no shoes needed, just a few steps away from nosy be dive centre and if you feel the need to use the pool next door, just go and buy a drink. The food was very tasty, no complaints there. Great breakfast included with fresh bread, fruit and fried eggs. Out of all the bars I’ve visited, they had the best cocktails hands down. Passion paradise is the best one.Waiters we’re very good and friendly. My only complaint is there’s not enough loungers some days and they should add more. But you can always visit other places for drinks and use theirs. The town is only a 1000 a ariary tuk tuk ride away and is nice to hang out in.
