Little piece of heaven in Marseille

Reviewed By PianoHand

A little piece of heaven on the edge of Marseille! A warm welcome from the kind and friendly owners Nicole and Guy into their beautiful home. They recommended local places for sightseeing and are very knowledgeable. My French is not good, but Nicole understands my English well. The rooms are perfect, with all facilities you need, the gardens are relaxing with the aroma of flowers in blossom, and the home cooked breakfast has to be the best in Marseille - trust me! Make sure your rental car is small as the local roads are narrow and not for the faint hearted. But do not let this stop you from booking, as you will have great memories from this charming place. Highly recommended! Thank you Guy and Nicole :)

A real nightmare

Reviewed By Bonish33

Unfortunately I can not refer the smell that was is a whole structure. I can not imagine that this ‘hotel’ has ever passed any quality control. We paid 40€ for one night (doule room) I have never seen even a hostel, not hotel which was that old. Correction, it was falling apart. We slept only 5 hours and than we escaped. The smell was even worse than what you see in photos. At first the Lady/Receptionist (?) wanted to give us a room on the ground floor, where was no light in the bathroom. E asked to change the room and she gave us this, on the second floor. And I have to say that this, second bathroom, was 100 times nicer than the one downstairs. We have book two single beds, but the rooms available had both only double bed. There was no light on the staircase in the morning and we had to go down with a flashlight. Shutter was 10 to short, so actually people from the street could see everything inside, especially at night with light on. Bathroom had no Curtin on the window. The main entrance door had the handle cut from both sides - nearly impossible to not get hurt. And in the reception instead of a receptionist was a huge refrigerator. The lady/receptionist was ‘on call’ from the door bell. Plus wifi password was not working. But this is nothing comparing to the ‘room standard’. The gallery of the ‘hotel’ on booking.com presents much different reality.

Excellent Palmeraie

Reviewed By marinoregini

The location is excellent, close to the beaches and to the small harbour of Pointe Rouge, where regular ferries connect to the Vieux Port and trip boats leave to the Calanques. The house is delicious, with a beautiful garden, a large and well-kept swimming pool, a very nice space around it. The suite, where my wife and I stayed for 3 nights, is very spacious, absolutely clean and perfectly furnished. The owner is extremely kind: ready to provide any type of information and advice and always available. I am not used to write comments, but I feel like I should recommend La Palmeraie because we really found ourselves at home there

lovely stay

Stylish, individual property with amazing views over the Med. The location is perfect - it is a 15 minute bus trip from the Vieux Port and there are regular busses til 12 at night but the B&B is in a quiet safe suburb. Catherine was a lovely host - she was very friendly and helpful and gave useful and detailed information about transport restaurants etc. The facilities were super for this type of small B&B and I felt very welcome and relaxed in the house and had full access to the pool, Jacuzzi, terrace, TV room etc. The room was a good size and individually decorated and had a modern and smart en-suite. I would definitely stay here if I was in Marseilles again.

Villa des Felibres

In a very secure and quiet area of Aix en Provence, this guest house offers charm, a large room, a large bath room and a friendly atmosphere. You are 15 minutes walk from the historic city center. You can park your car in a provate and secure garage inside the property for free and breakfast is included. The sunny room overlooks the landscape and the large swimming pool. The house erected in 1925 has been recently restored. A haven of peace and silence inside Aix surrounded by a walled garden.

My stay in the summer of 2016

I spent a few nights at this B&B during the busy Euro Soccer championships. The hostess was extremely kind and helpful even leading up to my trip, responded right away to all my questions and she was very flexible and accommodating with payment. Upon my late night arrival all restaurants were closed, so she brought some cheese and bread to my room, along with a glass of wine. The property is in a lovely quiet neighborhood, private entrance to a spacious room. Bus stop is right there and the metro is an easy walk away too. I'd highly recommend staying there, good breakfast.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Reviewed By Mac C

Let me give you a picture of what my room looked like: Only one light in the whole room worked. There were spider webs all over the ceiling, in the corners, behind the tv, with spiders included. The base mattress was so stained I thought it might be rotting. I peeled back the bed cover and was greeted with other people’s hair all over the sheets. The shower and toilet are communal located in the hall, which would be fine if the lights didn’t automatically go out every 5 mins. The place is so dark it’s like it’s midnight at midday. It is also very noisy, with trucks driving by all night to service the big supermarket next door. I can honestly say this was the worst place ive ever stayed. I booked 2 nights but I only stayed one, I just couldn’t stay another night there. This place should not be on trip advisor. BE WARNED
