Top 10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in Lake George, United States

April 21, 2023 Major Galusha

When people find a great vacation getaway, they keep coming back. This 32-mile-long "Queen of American Lakes" is chock-full of lodging, attractions, eateries and just about any form of recreation you can name. A significant player in American history, Lake George is the site of two great forts, Fort William Henry and Fort Ticonderoga, both open to the public. Before plunging into the myriad activities in this family-friendly town, start off with a relaxing lake cruise to learn about the area. Then, take your pick of recreation: parasailing, fishing, diving, jet skiing, hiking, golfing, minigolf, horseback riding and more. If you've got kids in tow, you can't get away without visiting the Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom, New York's largest amusement park. Hikers gravitate to the international trail system or Prospect Mountain, which offers panoramic views from the top; for an easier way up, hop on the tram. Among the cleanest and clearest of major U.S. lakes, Lake George is as splendid today as when Thomas Jefferson described it as "...without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw."

After reading a prior review, I had to post this review. Our stay was also in August 2020. Can't say enough about our stay. Wendy was first class all the way from check-in to check-out. The room was spotless and had everything we needed for a stay as a family of 5 with a 4-month infant. We were able to cook meals which was a great savings and convenience. We had a 2-bedroom unit and we were glad to have followed another guests suggestion of bringing fans to move the cool air from the air conditioned common area into the bedroom. I might suggest that the owner consider putting ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Other than that, everything was wonderful. The pool was delightful. The beach was too. Bring pool shoes. We even used the grills that were provided down by the beach. The recreation room is great if you have teenagers along with you. Wendy was their for all our needs. We were so happy that we booked for next summer before leaving. It is just far enough away from the hustle bustle of Lake George Village to make it nice and quiet.

Very good service and value

Reviewed By Mary K

So, remember that the Blue Moon is not state of the art modern hotel accomodations. It looks like a motel from the 70's on the exterior, and yes, they even have physical KEYS to the rooms! If you can get 'past' that, this is a motel right outside of the bustling town that has clean, comfortable rooms. We were in the Queen suite (number 25, I believe) which had the basics of what you would need for making meals. We only did breakfast here, and ate outside on the nice patio table on the porch outside of our room. We were a couple with one child, who used a cot. The cot had to be set up in the living room/kitchen area, which was a little unfortunate, because then we were relegated to the bedroom....but that wasn't horrible at all. The bathroom looked newly remodeled and was up to date in regards to style. The huge thing we saw was how accomodating the owners are. They CALLED US (!) and helped us big time when we needed to change our dates, when they could have just left us in the lurch, as we reserved a non-refundable room. When our car wouldn't start, they immediately helped us finding cables and getting us started on our way. Their customer service is tops!

1.0 No one answers phone, VM is full- Rude when you finally reach someone

Reviewed By brianandsheril

I contacted the hotel to see if I could change dates of the booking, as my father was ill with Covid and there was an exposure in our group. I started calling 4 days before my stay as soon as we found out about the illness. No one would answer the phone and then, it would go to voicemail, which was always full (convenient). At this point I started to get concerned about the hotel itself being legit. With the stories of human trafficking- you never know!I finally got through on Friday(the same day as my reservation) to see if I could make another arrangement. I understand it was non refundable, but I wanted to see if I could move the hotel room in the other person in my groups name (it was still prepaid) or move the date to a different date. The lady on the phone was EXTREMELY rude and told me she did not have time to deal with me and I needed to contact Booking.com., I tried to explain that they had asked me to contact the hotel and she hung up on me. I contacted them and they told me that i needed to contact the hotel. Like before I tried to call and there was no answer and the voicemail was full, so I was unable to reach the hotel. I was encouraged by booking.com to email the hotel to request a different date. I emailed and still have not heard anything back. Please DO NOT do business with this hotel!

Tony and the AC the two best parts of green acres.

Reviewed By Rvillemain

Tony is such a nice guy! Have to put that out there. Room was clean. Internet is horrible. Could not figure out the TV for the life of me. The location is right off the road so could be very noisy with cars passing by. Ac was strong and drowned out the cars passing and the other guests chatting nearby. Shower is great. I don’t know if I would stay again if I do it wouldn’t be for longer then one night. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Walls are very thin you can hear everything if ac isn’t on. Pool is small looks bigger on pics.

Great stay, perfect for families!

Reviewed By Debcurtis19

I can't say enough about this property! We stayed in the Eagles Nest, which is a 3 bedroom house. We had 3 adults and 2 children, and the space was huge. Great size kitchen/dining area and family room and the bedrooms were also large (2 kings, 1 queen). It smelled so clean when we walked in and all the furniture was brand new. Beds were super comfortable as well. We also had a small deck with an outdoor table and a private fire pit area. The location was great- we couldn't see the lake, which may be a con for some, but didn't bother us. It was really quiet and peaceful, which we wanted, and only a short drive to town. We also got out early and did our sight seeing/touristy stuff early, which left us with the pool to ourselves in the afternoon when everyone else was out and about! Some little details that I noticed: 1. there were a variety of types of pillows (I'm picky, so I notice). 2. There were hooks for hanging things throughout the house- which normally you wouldn't care about, but when you're hanging bathing suits, towels, goggles, jackets, etc., all those hooks came in handy! 3. The kitchen was well appointed- plates, cups, cutlery, serving utensils, toaster, coffee maker, full sized fridge, microwave, etc. We try to save money on food on vacation so being able to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner at "home" was fantastic. 4. There were pool toys! My kids were thrilled! Actually- the entire pool area was fantastic... 5. The game room had a lot of things to do and there was also an outdoor play area and outdoor games. Plenty to do to keep busy, even if you stay on the property or find yourself with a rainy day. When checking in the owner was telling me and another guest that they had just acquired the property in January. The fact that they have accomplished so much (new furniture, linens, brand new paint, fixing things on the property, installing central air, etc) in a time that has been beyond difficult for the hospitality business is nothing short of amazing. I can only imagine what this property will look like in a year. There are still little things here and there that I imagine are on their list of things - our sliding door stuck a bit, the game room was also a storage spot- but NOTHING that took away from our enjoyment and stay. We have already booked another stay when we come back to town for the Adirondack Nationals. The only thing to note was that there were no towels. We called down to ask and were told that there should have been an email saying that they were not doing towel service due to Covid. I somehow missed this. They were more than accommodating and brought us a few (we had beach towels with us, but they still supplemented) to help get us through. So glad we found this place and can't wait to come back!

Do not stay here!

Reviewed By Jenn D

Had 2 cabins booked. Cancelled one of the cabins 3 months in advance. The deposit was only refundable if that same cabin got booked by someone else. Amazingly, no one took it during prime summertime. During our stay we found out someone booked a cabin last minute but wasn't offered the cabin we had cancelled. Owner kept our deposit and didn't sell the cabin deliberately. Aside from that, the units are a bit rundown for the exorbitant price you will be paying to stay here. The cabins have granite counters tops. Big deal. The rest of your cabin is old and outdated. If you plan on using the water sports equipment, bring a hose because they are filthy and not cleaned ever, it appears.
