Excellent Inn with Rich History
Reviewed By AshleeC674Feng Mao Lin Zhi (鳳毛麟趾) is a beautifully decorated place of history. The two brother who run the inn are scholars and they can tell you the rich history of this very inn that they grew up in. You can watch the starry sky or enjoy the serenity of the place on the second floor. The place is very well-kept and clean. We will definitely recommend it to others. If you have enough oysters, there is a 金水餐廳 nearby which is next to 得月樓。 They make good food. The inn is a ten-min ride from the downtown bus terminal. Even if you don’t drive, you can easily call a cab to take you.

If you are seeking for a quiet place, feel the country life, this village is exactly what you want! Relaxing, cozy room in stylish restored traditional house, private bathroom & local breakfast included. We have won the Golden award from Kinmen National Park for years. Walking distance to Shanhou village, Lion howitzer front and seashore. 15 mins from Airport, 30 mins from Ferry port.
A beautiful home away from home in Kinmen
Reviewed By taiwanho1993Kinmen is an interesting place to visit, not least because of the Minnan style buildings which you will find all around the island. Thankfully the local government has promoted the restoration of these buildings, and Bird’s Lodge is an excellent example. The origins of the building stretch back around 250 years, with extra rooms being added as the family grew. The central room is now used as the lounge/dining room, with the bedrooms to either side around an inner courtyard leading to an outer courtyard. The buildings and courtyards have been lovingly restored and are very well maintained with great attention to detail. You can appreciate what it would have been like to live there 250 years ago, albeit with modern luxuries such as air conditioning and hot water! There are tables and chairs in both courtyards, and due to the location it is blissfully quiet at night. We were there in September, and despite the heat of the day it was very pleasant to site outside with the hint of rosemary and aromatic marigold in the air at night. The hosts (Jack [Amin] and Ann) are very knowledgeable and very welcoming. If you need any advice on what to do/see/eat in Kinmen, then they will be able to help. Ann’s English is excellent. We stayed for two nights and had a big group with children. Everyone had a great time, and I agree with sohngee’s review in that it really does feel like a home away from home. I am looking forward to the next visit…

Super cute countryside homestay
Reviewed By abroad0815Sweet hostel in a small village on Kinmen island. Rooms were fairly priced. About 20-30 min walk to the nearest town, and there's a bus stop at the village, running every 25 min, you can take it almost anywhere on the island. The land surrounding the small village is lush and green. Our hostess was waiting for us when we arrived. She was very helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious, with air conditioning. There's s fridge you can use, as well as slippers to wear inside. The hostess is a cat lover, so there was a playful young kitty around. Recommended

Reviewed By D_Curtis3Taigin offers a reasonable accommodation at a reasonable price. The rooms are clean, though they probably have not changed much since the 1990's. This hotel caters mostly to group tours. The breakfast was surprisingly tasty with a good selection of Chinese breakfast items. The staff did not speak much English, but were otherwise quite polite, professional and hospitable. The only real problem with this hotel is it's location, it is far away from downtown and the nearest store of any kind (7-11) is 10 minutes away by scooter. There is a restaurant about a 2 mile scooter/car ride north on Gaoyang road, but otherwise the hotel is in a desolate location.

Intolerable!
Reviewed By JacqJ8888We were there for two nights over Chinese New Year. The village was beautiful so was the I-Shan property. Unfortunately the room was filled with intolerable odor and the bathroom was filthy. Though I prepared myself for staying at a B&B accommodation, I did not anticipate how intolerable it was. We reserved the family room, which should “sleep 4 to 5”, but it was very small, just enough for a double bed and a small 2-seater sofa. There was no place for luggages. No closet or cupboards. Every bedding was old and odored. The smell was so strong and disturbing that I was not able to sleep. Eventually I had to fold my coat and cover the pillow. Even the sofa smelled bad. I wonder how long they have not replaced pillows and blankets and cleaned the room thoroughly. Bathroom was just as bad. Towels were no longer white, turned grey in fact. Tiled floor was old and dirty. Dirty plastic slippers. I ended up not taking a shower while I was there. There is a mezzanine floor in the room, but we were told because we registered as a couple only, ie two guests, we should not use it. It was dark and dusty, a narrow wooden staircase leads up to it. A bit spooky actually. Breakfast was not eatable. We had coffee only for two days. All in all, will not recommend to anyone. It is a beautiful property, but on the outside only.
