The decoratio is fantastic.. a mix of old and modern Everything is clean ..and neat.. the kitchen ..the rooms ..the overall of the place was very good. Located in a nice neighborhood. You can use the terrace ...the lounge ....I love the coffee machine I recommend this place.. In case I am back in Bern .. I will definitely stay here .

Charming Guesthouse
Reviewed By richardfO4972CGI chose this place because it was handy for the Young Boys stadium and for town. It is a 15 minute walk from the station and a bus ride to the ground. The City Tax covers your use of public transport so remember to ask the staff for a pass. The hotel itself reminded my of the Rhineland hotels I used to stay in as a kid and has lovely old fashioned rooms. The staff are also very helpful. My only slight complaint is that breakfast items are not replenished. I arrived about half way through the sitting and had less choice of items than if I'd got there at the start. Apart from that a brilliant stay.

A relaxing place to stay
Reviewed By JohnBHampshireThis was business trip for one of us working in Gumligen a 10 minute (No 6) tram ride away (or you can use the S7 train). One of us was playing tourist and sight seeing in Bern. The hotel has a very traditional alpine style, serves breakfast (continental style) and has a restaurant but shut Sat and Sun. We did not try the restaurant as my partner wanted to explore Berne after work so ate in town. Told by locals that the restaurant is very good (Michelin noted) but expensive. We also tried and found the Hirschen 'pub' about 500m away which serves food to be good and good value for money. Very friendly staff (a family run hotel) but if you arrive at the weekend you need to sort out how to get a key (reception is only 7-10 am at week ends). The double room we stayed in was very large with separate WC and bath/shower rooms, in good condition and very clean The hotel has a very relaxing feel to it, though the only downside is traffic noise outside from about 4.30 am BUT construction work is underway (and you can see the plans) for a bypass which should greatly help. You are only 100 m from the train station which will take you into Berne and the tram halt which will also take you into to central Berne. The No 6 tram takes 25 mins to reach Worb Dorf from the main station in Berne (Dec 2014 it costs 6.40 CHF (c. £4.40) for a single ticket but believe there are better ticket options if you are in and out of Berne.) If you are playing tourist in Berne there are many restaurants but during the day I found the Migros (a food store chain) sit down restaurant ( not the take away) between Baren Platz and the main station tram stop offered a wide choice at value prices in Swiss terms. Overall, the Gasthof Lowen was a really enjoyable and relaxing to stay compared to what you get with the many chain hotels. It has very good transport links to the city and if we were to visit again then would be happy to stay here again. Yes very good!

Reviewed By philslrSuper neues und schickes Hotel mit sehr freundlichem Personal. Super Anbindung an S-Bahn und das Busnetz und man ist in wenigen Minuten in der Innenstadt. Zimmer sind stylisch und neu. Tiefgarage ist direkt im Hotel vorhanden. Ruhige Umgebung für erholsame Nächte. Wir würden es wieder buchen.

Reviewed By UrsulaHansA wonderful, authentic Swiss hospitality delight. A groups of old farmhouses were taken down on their original locations and then rebuilt on the new premises. All done very tastefully! Rooms and suites of various categories to be found in all these refurbished old houses. The "Hanghaus" (where we stayed) is the only new building. Rooms: very nice, enough space, good bathrooms. Food: Excellent at brakfast and dinner! Staff: exceptionally nice, helpful andknowledgable! Looking forward to coming back.

Reviewed By lolavoyagerBooked this hotel and then was told I had to cancel it because I have an address in Hong Kong on my booking.com profile. I explained that I have not been in Hong Kong (or traveled to Asia for over 12 months and that I currently live in Switzerland. I got a reply telling me that they could not accept my booking due to the connection with China! I find this discriminatory beyond belief.

Reviewed By MI_O202Der einfache Gasthof liegt zentral an der Veloroute, Die Zimmer sind einfach und sauber. Allerdings nach einem Zimmer nach hinten fragen. Die vorderen Zimmer gehen direkt auf dies Strasse. Das Personal ist freundlich und das Essen gut.

Die Gestaltung und Einrichtung des ganzen Hauses ist einzigartig und übertrifft die durch die Homepage und den darauf publizierten Presseberichten suggerierten Erwartungen deutlich. Sehr netter Gastgeber und perfektes Frühstück. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und super geschlafen. Wir kommen bei Gelegenheit sicher wieder und das nicht nur wegen der fantastischen Aussicht. Fazit: Muss man erlebt haben!
