JL Beers

Award Winning Burgers with Fresh-cut Chips & Fries. 40 Beers on tap.

With an out-of-town guest, the conversation while driving between businesses zeroed in on getting a good burger. The urge to eat a good burger was brought up. "I know just the place," I said, "I ate there on Monday." JL Beers was the place. For this sunny Saturday, seeing all kinds of people out and about, in stores, and on the road before the predicted weather that was to come, I was a little concerned that we might have to wait a bit. There were a number of bar seats, where we started out, but with people leaving, we acquired a table. A good thing and a little roomier, too. The comment from my guest was that this was probably the best burger they've ever had, the JL Beers Burger. Mine was another one I wanted to try, the Gyro Burger. We both had the homemade fries and the 1918 or 1919 Schell's Brewery keg Root Beer. I mean, with more places to go and pick up construction materials, it was difficult not to try one of their fifty some beers that are on tap, not to mention the bottled ones. The food was great, the people were friendly, and the staff does an excellent job. The fun part is their humor and that their outdoor sign says, "Seating for a 1000, 47 at a time!" Need a burger and a good beer? Chicken sandwich? This is the place!

The Boiler Room used to be a favorite spot for a inning fun meal. The menu has been reduced with fewer selections eliminating my favorites. Tonight, we left after a disappointing meal. To start with, the beer selection is excellent. Cold beer is a great beginning. Here were our meal choices.Hubby - fish and chips. Greasy which one should expect. My meal - beer cheese soup, 3 cheese tater tots, cheeseburger. The soup was a bright yellow - ick. No real cheese is that color. Tater tots were ok. Burger was tasteless. It must have been a frozen patty from a box. Needless to say, the Boiler Room is off my list of places to enjoy dinner. Plus, we had a coupon and a gift card. The server didn’t even give us a slip - just the leftover gift card. Shady to say the least. Isn’t a gift card like $$$

And churros waffles?! Who knew?!We're glad you enjoyed the night with us! Thanks for the visit and review!

Great location. Street parking. Friendly bartender. Love farm to table establishments and wanted to love this place. French fries were great....crisp, tender center and not greasy. The Chicken Sammy had burnt dried breading. Took a bite and the breading all fell off which was a good thing because didn't want a burnt flavor. The chicken was tender and juicy. My husband had the Bánh Mi which was pasty, flavorless and dry which needed much more sauce either the BBQ or Aioli.

Downtown bar scene place. Much less crowded than we expected. Had that almost-clean bar feeling. Good selection of sausage/german food - fairly priced and unfortunately only fairly tasteful. Sausages had good flavor, but were dry. It is a long bar, so when the bartenders are socializing, it can be hard to get noticed to order. Not the authentic german experience we were hoping for.
