Booked a table here for brunch on a Saturday morning. Staff were friendly and helpful when booking and equally friendly on arrival. Location is a lovely old building right on the corner. Sun was shining through the windows making the room warm and cosy on this fairly chilly yet lovely morning. Menu is good and staff were happy to offer breakfast even though we were a little late for it. I had the meatloaf with was obviously homemade, plentiful and very tasty...the chicken and mushroom pie was pretty good too. Only downside was no licence....but sparkling water was good. Would recommend.

Coal Valley Vineyard Restaurant

Relaxed casual dining can be enjoyed in the light contemporary restaurant space or out on the terrace - both with stunning water views out over the vines to the Coal River Valley. Wine tastings and sales from 10am to 5pm. Open seven days a week.

Ventured out over Easter. We have been before and everything was top notch then. Lovely crisp fruity riesling but had issues with the cheeseboard. The 'cheeseboard' was arranged on a dinner plate, the cheeses were delicious and the portions could have been more generous. There was not enough bread/crackers. There was strangely a small pot of honey which I have never seen before. Overall rather disappointing for a venue that has excelled in our experience.

Frogmore Creek has the worst restaurant customer service I have ever experienced, and that is saying something considering we did not even get the restaurant! The restaurant had been personally recommended by a close friend, so we booked our table early and the family were looking forward to the experience. Without any warning, about two weeks before the booking, we get an email generated from the booking engine advising the restaurant had cancelled our booking.Frogmore Creek did not have the common courtesy to even put a quick note on the cancellation. No explanation, no apology.End result, very disappointed family who now will tell everyone whom we hear is going to Tassie to avoid Frogmore Creek.Your team's customer service needs a huge kick in the butt. Not good enough.

Tasmania Golf Club

This is the first time that I have been with a group to this Golf Club. The wait for the first serve was a bit long. However they have served about 4 to 5 dishes of cheese and garlic pide for all of us at the table. I have asked whether these were free of charge and the waitress said yes. However, one lady has ordered such a dish beforehand not knowing that they would come free of charge. There was a great confusion amongst the group as nobody really knew what was really going on. It turned out that according to the waitress all such dishes were complimentary with the exception of one lady that has pre ordered the pide dish where she had to pay extra. It would have been a good idea if the staff of the dining room would have made it specifically clear right from the start whether or not these dishes were actually complimentary. Please bear in mind that it is not the money that is in dispute but it is merely a matter of principle.Apart from that the meals were not too bad but needed a bit more taste.

I find this review difficult to write, and somewhat frustrating. We have been patronising this restaurant for many years, and over the last few months visited several times. We have noticed a definite decline, in what used to be superb seafood at a reasonable price. First the pluses: the staff are excellent, helpful and efficient. The menu offers a good range of seafood, with specials on the blackboard. I cannot comment on dessert, because we don't do desserts. The obvious decline is in quality of seafood, quantity, and value for money. On one occasion my friend ordered flounder. It came out looking like a truck had run over the poor mite. My friend sent it back, and the waitress quickly replaced it with a much better fish option. Meanwhile another friend had flat head, obviously overcooked. Possibly they had precooked it, put it aside and then quickly refried it. If that is so, it is unforgivable. We are locals, well-versed in fish. We catch it, and we cook it. Please do not fob off second rate seafood onto us. A further point of contention is the magically diminishing seafood plate. Last time my husband ordered the hot plate, it was generous. This time, however, the piece of salmon was the size of a 50 cent piece, and the other piece of fish (ling) - also tiny. There was a tiny bowl of mussels, 6 oysters kilpatrick (which were lovely), and a small serve of calamari. Not great for $49. My seafood chowder was extremely salty, and relied too much on cream, rather then genuine seafood stock, for any flavour. Now, I recognise this place is very popular with Chinese tourists. That's great. I take pride in seeing them devour our seafood taken from pristine waters so unlike their own. But that is no excuse to increase prices - yes, they can afford it. To them, this is seafood paradise, and they will pay anything. But you need to cater for locals as well. Our local communities have not benefited one iota from the influx of tourists. Instead, we pay the price in terms of crowded roads, dangerous drivers, and litter dropped everywhere. Remember this, tourism is a fickle friend. When the fashion changes, or air travel becomes problematic, guess what - no overseas tourists. Only the locals....

Called in with my mum for lunch- lots of people but plenty of room. Staff were great and everything clean and looked after. Mum had fish of the day with veggies. All baked and looked wonderful, even included parsnip!I had a steak and while the mushroom sauce was terrific and the taste of the steak was great - it was a little tough and grisly. But great for lunch.

Service was prompt & friendly, bar service very good, dining area is small but not crowded or uncomfortable, menu has a good selection of pub style dishes using local produce. Prices were reasonable and serving sizes generous. I had fish, chips & salad and it was very nice.I would go back again when visiting the area.
