Wish to show off your innovativeness and creativity? Ever tried your hand at preparing excellent Stir Fries? Kublai Khan offers you the opportunity for both!As a large group of nine people, we had the possibility of trying out almost all the permutations and combinations of a phenomenal array of raw material ... chicken, fish, prawns, beef, sausages, shell fish, pork; all kinds of veggies like carrots, onions, cauliflower, beans etc etc; a wide variety of sauces - both proprietary and kitchen sauces; spices and herbs; carbs like rice, noodles and a variety of pastas; seasoning et el ...long list of displayed raw material - the only thing that limited you was the size of the bowl to fill up! Then we stood and watched the Chef convert our selections into well prepared stir fries! Pssst...: There are a number of recipe cards kept just before the display of the raw material - they can be good indications for the kitchen-illiterates as to which raw ingredients they should take for their concoctions!

Went here around 6, I checked their happy hour, the food was very good although pretty small portions, their Litchi Martini was actually very good, and on happy hour it cost $6. We tried two sushi rolls on the regular menu, the sushi was pretty good. I must say huge bravo to the service, they were amazing, always on time to serve you and very polite, great service. There is a lot of parking around so no worries if that stops you of going here.

My wife took me to The Cooking Girl the other day. I’ll have to say I did not expect what I experienced. The outside is rather plain (but that seems typical for Sugar Land), but the inside is tastefully decorated in a muted style. The service was quick, pleasant and efficient. Top score for that. The food was absolutely fantastic! We had Dan Dan Noodles and Steamed Dumplings. I have never had better, well dumplings anyway, because I have never had Dan Dan Noodles before. Let me say that I am a Dan Dan Noodle fan now. I don’t know how to describe the dish except to say that it was great. I will be back for that, and of course the dumplings.

When I almost ran out of wine, it was nice that you could ask anyone to help you. Lots of places someone will just tell your server and who knows when you will get what you ordered. In my experience here, I got a glass of wine in three minutes. Waitstaff came around to clear items from the table and asked us if we needed anything. Most of the time, we didn't. I think this place has good management and empowers the staff to execute. The bento box with the chef choice of raw fish was excellent. I wish we lived in the area, because they are on the top ten percent of sushi places I've been to.

Pho Ben

Reviewed By Vincent M

Spending a week in Sugar Land, which has a very large Vietnamese-American community, so I decided to try some pho joints, starting with the one that had the highest TA rating. I concur with others that this is very good pho. One tip-off is that the pho should come with a side dish of bean sprouts, hot peppers, and herbs. If the herbs merely consist of cilantro, hmmm, not so good. If they include one or more obscure Vietnamese herbs with incredibly complex flavours, that significantly improves their pho. The menu at Pho Ben indicated that you get sprouts and cilantro, but in actuality the side dish had lots of a flavourful Asian herb, in addition to the cilantro, and had two lime wedges that were each about one-quarter of a lime: so you get to squeeze in plenty of lime juice as well. See the Herb Plate photo: the photo shows both the pho bowl and herbs, but the herbs are the impressive part. The other noteworthy plus was that they did not stint on the beef; there was plenty of it in the bowl. The total cost of the dinner was under $8. I'll enjoy comparing this to other Vietnamese restaurants here, but I probably will swing around to Pho Ben at least one more time to try their Bahn Mi. Lots of parking, and a relatively convenient central location. I definitely recommend: it would be a good lunch stop if you were heading down I-69 between Victoria and Houston.

The service is spot on and the food is made correctly/served in a timely manner. Our latest visit last weekend was no exception. The Buddha Feast and Chang's crispy chicken entrees were cooked/prepared as we requested and served in a timely manner. The crispy green beans were a bit greasy but still up to par. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience and we will continue to be repeat loyal customers to this location. It is worth the drive.

Reliable excellent consistent food and service. Stop by and if it's not crowded go in. If it looks crowded, you may have a long wait. While I'd love to say it's worth it (and it may be for you), it's not so exceptional (on quality or price) that we consider it worth a long wait (go to the Italian restaurant in the same shopping center, instead -- although it, too, gets crowded at times, sometimes at the same time). After being here enough times, it's obvious that they have a huge take-out business; most of the people that come in the door are picking up food not sitting down. The restaurant still maintains a level of quick service nonetheless, with consistent quality. Impressive. Although this is not by any means unique, you can order most dishes with up to four levels of spicy ("hot") that they can consistently deliver, time after time. This is one of our favorite "oriental" restaurants when we find ourselves out and hungry with no prior plans.

Right in the heart of Sugar Land Town Square, our local friends brought us here and we're glad they did. A generally nice atmosphere, very neat and tidy, with very friendly and accommodating wait staff. We started off with appetizers of Veggies Tempura, which is a medley of squash or zuccini, brocolli, sweet potatoes and I don't know what else, but it was delicioius, along with soy sauce and ginger sauce for dipping. Another was their edamame, also very good. For dinner, we ordered a large sampler of sushi rolls of Shaggy Dog, Rock & Roll, and a few others. All were exceptional and delicious. If I'm ever this way again, I'll come back. Reasonably priced.
