This is just one of the numerous fast food restaurants in the country that try to serve Italian dishes to no success. It serves the usual Filipino version of pasta and pizza. It has branches all over the country and caters more to the masses' taste and tight budget. Nothing spectacular about this place, really.

Lunch at Fireside by Kettle at SM Megamall turned out to be a great dining experience. For starters, we had the Truffled Potato Chips (blue cheese and truffle oil) which was so irresistible. Our mains were Buttermilk Fried Chicken Fingers and Double-Cut Pokchop. Both dishes were delicious! I loved the cornbread doughnuts that came with the chicken. We paired the pork chop with creamy and flavorful mashed potatoes. Dessert was Sticky Banana Fig Pudding which was perfect with my cappuccino. Pricing-wise, Fireside is comparable to CPK and Chili's. Some menu items are even cheaper. It's definitely a must-try.

Ok, we had so much truffle oil. :) We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a lunch date at CK. The food was lovely. Not very photogenic as the colors are kind of dull, but tasty (which is more important). I loved the mushroom risotto balls. The chicken parmigiana tasted great but was so thin and a bit rubbery. The pasta we ordered (I forgot the name, but it had bacon, mushroom, truffle with cream sauce) was a hit even with our toddler. :) Service was great if only the server did not think we ordered "take out", so they had to transfer everything in plates.

Wolfgang's Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener

After 4 decades of experience, it is fair to say that Wolfgang Zwiener learned his craft well. Taking the core principles from his years as Peter Luger’s head waiter, Wolfgang didn’t just duplicate an exceptional steakhouse; he improved upon it making Wol

There is a lot of hype re Wolfgang and so we decided to try it out and check for ourselves if the place is good.Upon entry, you are bombarded by a crowd of servers, manager, and other people from the restaurant trying their best to welcome you. The effort was admirable but the execution was a total failure. One feels so taken aback with the number of eager beavers ushering the guests into a restaurant. As we prepare to order our food, the waiting staff kept pushing for items in the menu despite our politely telling the staff that we prefer other items. The wine list was also being sold like garlands of sampaguita being sold in the streets! It just felt so uncomfortable to start a meal with waiters and waitresses pushing for the most expensive items in the menu. It just isn’t right. Further, there is a need to train the staff on how to speak properly. They were so uptight and found it so difficult to speak naturally to the customers. This is so important to make customers feel at ease. When the food came, the steaks were ok. We have had better steaks at more reasonable prices but this is not to say that the steaks are not good. For the price, we expected a lot more but it was ok.The dining experience can be made more pleasant with proper training of the staff. The food can be improved further as well.We hope that Wolfgang can make some changes to make the dining experience a better one!

Mighty Quinn's

Reviewed By 123letsgonow

My partner and I were walking around Megamalls looking for a place to enjoy a few cold beers after shopping, and we stumbled upon Mighty Quinn's. As big fans of smoked meats in general, we couldn't resist ordering for the Brontosaurus Ribs (P1,700), a big slab of short rib, slow smoked to perfection. The front counter staff was very persuasive and told me that I would not regret my decision, and it was the best (food) decision in a long time! There was very little need to use the BBQ sauce, provided generously in bottles on every table. We also enjoyed the Dirty Fries (P160)- a dish made of hand cut potato fries, topped with green onions, and burnt tips of briskets. My partner helped himself to a couple of craft beers (Soothsayer Ale) and while I indulged in a couple of cold San Miguel Lights to while the afternoon. As we couldn't finish our food, we asked for them to be packed to go, so that we could enjoy them some more on our way back to Singapore that evening. I couldn't wait for us to go back to Manila, if only to enjoy the delicious ribs once more. Good job on the food, service and the ambiance. We could not stop raving! If there is a suggestion that could make it better, it would be to include more brands of craft beers in the menu. We spent about P3,500 for the total bill. While it was quite expensive compared to other restaurants in Manila, we found it to scale very high on value for money due to the quality of the food that we enjoyed. Thank you so much for the great dining experience. We wish that we discovered it earlier in our trip! Better late than never, eh? :)

I recently visited Manila and stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel. I had walked past Kettle several times in the plaza mall, and it was always full of customers. Seating was quick, and there are plenty of tables for four in the mall area. Complimentary water with lemon was brought to the table in a carafe. I selected the barbecue beef brisket on a hamburger bun with french fries and cole slaw. The bread was very nice, soft, and sweet. The seasoned fries were also very good, as was the cole slaw. The beef was tender, and there was an adequate amount of sauce. The restaurant also offers cakes, coffees, wine, beer, and cocktails. They have a Happy Hour every day from 3 until 6 pm. Tip: There is no carry out available as I attempted to order a shake "to go."

Our satisfying dinner at Chili's in SM Megamall left us with a pleasantly satiated feeling. We had ordered some starters (egg rolls and onion rings) herb salmon, baby back ribs, ripe mango mist and fountain drinks. The meal was quite filling. My son and I really appreciated the service rendered by JC who was "all smiles" at work. We would kindly suggest though, to check if table napkins or tissues are available for guests' use. As a fancy, perhaps a decorative candle would add a little glamour on the dining table. We also think that drinking glasses would be much better than plastic mugs for water. It is great to know that our official receipt serves as a coupon for a free signature wings with minimum Php 1000. purchase on our next visit, after having completed the guest experience survey in their website. Thanks to CHILI'S. We do, and will always patronize your famous restaurant in different places we visit. A great recommendation to our families, international friends and associates!

Just as in many of their branches, this 8 Cut restaurant in Megal Mall, also serves delicious burgers and other food delight. I tried their fish sandwich which came with skinny fries and a glass of ice tea. It was delicious. Their beef nachos with melted cheese was also good. Service in this location is good but the place get so crowded during lunch time. So, come early to enjoy better.

Came by for Sunday ala carte brunch before the lunch buffet started. We've dined at HEAT at this time several times this year, as this was a convenient location for seniors who we are with. Even after repeated reiterations of our preferred seating by the entrance, the female hostesses kept on insisting us on different seats that were either far off from the entrance and near the buffet serving area (even if we're having ala carte), or an area also near the entrance, but was darker and colder. We understand the seats that we preferred were allocated for buffet diners, but a little consideration could have been better as we arrived an hour and a half before the lunch buffet schedule, had seniors and a child with us. A senior member of the waiting staff even nodded in approval when we were selecting our preferred seats, but somehow these hostesses wouldn't bulge. We eventually got seated to our preference when a male waiter who recognized my companions finally took care of us. As we finished our meals, I noticed that the restaurant was no where near full and it wouldn't have made a difference if those waitresses had just seated us where we wanted to in the first place.I also encountered another waitress who'm I've given instructions to in verifying our order, who I saw just casually walk away afterwards and I later saw started to assist another diner and never came back. Prior to this, the waiters who initially assisted me were mostly unfamiliar with the ala carte menu. There were at least a couple of instances when the waitresses just chatted between each other before punching our orders onto the system, which just defeated the purpose of us arriving early and trying to order in advance.Another mix up happened with our orders, where one of the waiters assumed that our "Japanese bento" was being ordered from the Japanese restaurant upstairs, when the order was meant to be the "Japanse bento" breakfast set found on their ala carte menu. Most of the food, while tasted and prepared mostly authentic, somehow tastes flat and unremarkable towards the end.Strolled around the buffet area as they began to open, and didn't think the selection was worth it for their Sunday lunch price tab. While I do agree with a recent review that most waiters here are entitled (reading that recent review only sparked up my mind to write this now), they were still a few of them (mostly in white and denim) who are attentive and took their job seriously. These guys did good to compensate as we finally got settled in, after the terrible experience upon arrival. The waiting staff looked a little understaffed. For a restaurant at a "5 star hotel" with the kind of service I described, certainly unacceptable.Dear Disso,Thank you for taking the time to share your review. Please accept our sincerest apologies. At Edsa Shangri-La, Manila, we pride ourselves in offering the highest levels of care and hospitality to all our guests, however, it is evident that we have fallen short of the expectation that we have set for ourselves and you are certainly entitled to expect. Please be assured that your experience during this time has been discussed with our operations team so we may review and ensure to improve on. Once again, thank you and we hope you will allow us the opportunity to redeem ourselves by welcoming you back to our hotel.Yours sincerely,Lionel KDirector of Food & Beverage
