Top 10 American food in Albany, New York, United States

September 5, 2020 Malia Yoakum

Reviews on American food in Albany, New York, United States. A rich 300-year history, a thriving arts community and seemingly endless wilderness make this New York capital city on the Hudson River a great weekend getaway. Outdoor enthusiasts come here to ski, hike, canoe and fish; trout and small-mouth bass fishing is among the best in the U.S. Mountains surround the city, and the tapestry of golds and reds on an autumn day is breathtaking. The city is dominated by an elaborate 10-building complex that includes the State Capitol; the New York State Museum, with life-like dioramas such as American Indian life and an Adirondack logging operation; and the oval-shaped Empire State Performing Arts Center, nicknamed "The Egg." History buffs will enjoy the colonial homes, historic churches and museums, and can tour 18th-century mansions, like the Schuyler, a superb example of pre-Revolutionary War architecture. Whether nature or history is your passion, you'll find an abundance of both in this upstate New York gem.

Background: I was with a large group (7) of colleagues in town for a conference. Originally had made reservations, but ended up showing up about an hour early, but was seated quickly with no problems. Atmosphere: A casual, bar atmosphere. The restaurant is filled with antiqued, long picnic benches and tables that can accommodate about 8 or so people. Music was playing both in the main dining room/bar area and in the back kitchen- where you wait for your free pizza. Service: Was a bit slow, but it seemed there was only a few servers on the floor and it was pretty full when we arrived. Our waiter was friendly and patient as we asked a bunch of questions (What's on the pickle plate? Is it pickles?) and requests- (in stead of chips, can I have fries?). Food came out slowly, but pizza was there to fill in the gaps. At least apps came out fairly quickly.Food: A unique mix of modern and classic dishes. Lots of twists! Like the pickle plate had lots of pickled items (cauliflower, fiddle-head ferns, garlic, but no traditional pickles). Many of us ordered the pulled pork, which did NOT disappoint. Friend had the burger said it was good and other friend who had the curry chicken sandwich was happy too. Would I go back? IT is definitely a place to grab a casual meal with friends or colleagues after work. It had a fun atmosphere and solid food. I would come back if I was in the area again!

Came with colleagues for dinner. The restaurant is very large with different rooms the ambiance is fun and interesting. We enjoyed several different entrees: 6 oz fillet and angel hair pasta, Cesar salad with salmon; a rigatoni, chicken and peppers dish and shrimp scampi. We each enjoyed a glass of wine (loved the Glendora Reisling). We shared a huge piece of peanut butter cheesecake. Our server Corey was terrific. Prices were reasonable.

Its lovely to be greeted with acknowledgement of our anniversary plus 2 glasses of Champagne. Husband had Lobster Bisque, Oysters, Rib eye done a perfect med. rare, & Asparagus which was a little too crisp tender. I had their wonderful she-crab soup,a half salad which had a very tasty vinaigrette dressing, & Salmon which was delicious. We ended our dinner with Key lime Pie, & an order of Sorbet. What better way to celebrate. We normally don't dine on this much food, but it was worth the diet we now have to go on. Accolades to Amanda & Ryan who were very attentive to our every need.Thank you for choosing b&b for your anniversary! We hope to have you as our guests again, soon.

We’ve had consistent great food & service at NWBB the few times that we’ve dined there. Last week was our 1st time dining on their outside patio, which provided a quieter option on a busy Friday night. Their nightly special homemade pasta with salmon was delicious, as was their consistent bacon wrapped, Gouda stuffed meatloaf. Their speciality cocktail New Fashioned was very tasty. Glad we thought about trying here again while in Albany.

My wife and I enjoyed our recent dining experience at 677 Prime. We arrived early and decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail before dinner. Our server was personable and friendly and attentive to out needs. Our martinis were perfectly prepared and our NY strip steaks were delicious and cooked medium and medium rare as we requested. We shared a salad and a loaded baked potato but we were too full to consider dessert. Although the prices were on the high side, we will definitely return to 677 Prime whenever we are in the Albany area. Thank you for the review, we're so happy you appreciate the quality and experience!

A wonderful find, once we found it, tucked away in a rather quiet corner of a busy city. This 1800's building that once housed a public school and then a doctor's office boasts a nice garden patio, small bar area as you walk in, and cozy dining area that seats maybe 20 people. The service was very friendly, quick, and efficient. The prices were very reasonable. The menu held something for everyone. Great choices. The burger was the best ever. Cooked perfectly! The homemade salsa was awesome as well. Wished we lived closer so we could return to this great place more often!
