The best available Villas to stay near Georgia

April 18, 2023 Flossie Demartino

While Atlanta is the anchor and capital of Georgia, you can aim in any direction to find distinctly different regions – from the tail of the Appalachians in the North to the rolling Piedmont hills and on down to the seaside marshes in the East. Atlanta lays claim to the state’s number one attraction – Stone Mountain State Park. They say it best - “Serious fun. Endless adventure.” Just 15 minutes from downtown, the world’s largest exposed granite dome is surrounded by 3,200 acres of natural beauty and stimulating activities for every member of the family – sky rides and hiking paths, laser shows and pedal boats along Stone Mountain Lake. Golfers tee it up, while red foxes dash across the fairways in a state where the Masters Golf Tournament creates revered green-jacket memories every year. It’s a long downhill ride down to historic Savannah, a ‘stone’s throw’ from the Atlantic and a virtual step back in time to Southern architecture and stately squares. St. Simon’s and Jekyll Islands offer barrier island beauty and a wonderful combination of outdoor activities, historic sites and artistic culture. Originally the private winter playground of wealthy northeasterners, Jekyll Island stretches along 10 miles of coastal beaches and inland marshes. Cycling and walking paths wind under moss-laden oaks, and a tour of Millionaire Village takes you back to those Cornelius Vanderbilt and J.P. Morgan days. The kid-friendly Summer Waves Water Park adds man-made fun to natural water sport activities. Coastal golf courses and sophisticated St. Simon’s Island appeal to moms, dads and vacationing couples.

Wonderful, homey, spacious place to stay

Reviewed By donhenshaw

We just completed a terrific stay at Newell Lodge. We had a 2 bedroom cottage (Lilly pad) which was very clean, modern, well furnished, and had a well-equipped kitchen. The Newell property is absolutely beautiful with tons of open space, extremely beautiful stands of mature trees and lawn, and several cottages carefully placed throughout to assure privacy and a very peaceful environment. The property also includes multiple horse pastures and horse farm facilities. We had an amazing full gourmet dinner onsite of the onsite Bistro. This lodge offers a unique and beautiful environment, comfortable place to stay, all at great value. The proprietors are very friendly and concerned that their guests have a good stay.

Great for hiking!

Reviewed By Cimberly H

We had a wonderful time at this resort with 1 other couple. The trails on site were great and it is near to Amicalola Falls, Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, Gibbs Gardens, and many other beautiful places. The kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable, family room furniture needs replaced, very clean. The fees they charge for onsite activities, excluding hiking, are extremely high. They only get you started with dish soap, TP, paper towels, etc. We had a few questions and when we call we always got the answering service. It may be because we were there in the off season. The check-in staff was great

Cabins at Highland Falls

Quaint and resonable

Reviewed By captpepp

We were looking for a reasonably priced cabin my family could visit for a short early summer vacation. These cabins are just that. Not a destination but, a place to land as we explore the area. Cabins at Highland Falls are not large luxury cabins but, quaint cabins that have a fully stocked kitchens. they do not sleep as many as they say (The foldout beds would be good for small children but not adults)

Renovated Rooms on Second Floor

Reviewed By WellINever

The rooms on the second floor of the two-story building have been renovated quite nicely. Four USB charger ports on each side of the room (see photo). Generous with soap, shampoo and towels. In-room fridge was unplugged when I arrived, but it chilled my cans of soda quickly. It's been a few years since the previous time I was here, and the staff is just as courteous and helpful. The layout of the second floor of the "common area" has been changed to a more logical configuration since my previous stay.

I’m an owner, or 4 weeks in March

Reviewed By N5980JQsuzannet

I own 4 weeks I’m 3 different units, this year they decided that instead of putting you in one unit all 4 weeks, that you had to move units to your own each week. No organization for the moves. We were told by the front desk and manager Tim that we could move to our car at 10:00, and that we owned nothing between 10:00 A.M. and checking in at 4:00 P.M. Funny I thought our fees paid his salary. Location great on the beach…very dated…e.g. coffee tables have ripped off veneer, floors are peeling…insurance isn’t paying repairs since the hurricanes…all that requires patience…we love this place for emotional memories, but I would never own or rent other wise. If you come, plan to see rules posted everywhere and be treated poorly.

Sunday Brunch Buffet BAD BAD

Reviewed By billreedred

Saw local White Cty newspaper ad, buy one $24.95 get one free, thought it would be a nice treat WRONG it was the worst buffet Bruch I have ever had, was always out of food and most few serving trays was empty not even any eggs (only one omelet station and alway slow and people waiting) They said they was short staffed. I say the management was very not prepared and was only about 25 people eating too. Maybe the main resort is better, this was served at the golf course area.
