Nice Hotel with Excellent Service
Reviewed By HaerleI was travelling with my two children, 13 & 10 and we had a great stay in Oceanside. The staff at the hotel were consistently helpful. We arrived late at night and checked into our King with Sofa room. I realized after getting in, partially unpacked and the sofa bed made up, that this was not ideal and I should have got two queens instead, so I phoned and asked if it was possible to move. Carmen was very kind and helpful. She asked if I preferred to move right then, or the next day for the following two nights. When I said I preferred to move right away she found us the closest room possible to make this easier for us. I know we would have caused some extra work for the hotel having to go in a do a bit of extra cleaning and tidying after us, but Carmen did not make me feel that I was causing any inconvenience at all. We felt very welcomed. The next morning my kids were late getting down for breakfast and the staff kindly served them anyway. This was our experience the whole time. Thanks to Carmen, Agustin, Junior and the whole team for making our stay so enjoyable.

Reviewed By 474kristyrWe stayed overnight in a room that was supposed to have 2 queen beds but they seemed like doubles. When we got home a day or so later my husband realized he didn’t have his drivers license. He called the hotel and the guy at the desk told him they had it, when asked if it could be mailed to him the guy said he would have to ask his manager. My husband called back a day later to see if the manager was in and this time the girl at the desk told him the manager was not there and she was going to be out for a couple weeks. He then asked her if they still had the license at the front desk and she kept saying her manager would be back in a couple weeks and hung up on him. He tried calling back about 3 times and she would not answer the phone. He finally had to drive down there to get it. I’m not sure who is running this place but whoever they have working at the front desk needs to go. We will not be staying here again.

Reviewed By Rich SThe clerk that checked me in said it best, ‘lots of folks look down by the water but the savvy travelers usually end up here.’ Exceptionally clean and comfortable hotel with excellent service and a universally friendly and knowledgeable front desk team. On day one, the front desk went out of their way to get me coffee when the cafe was closed- several good dining recommendations and always a friendly greeting on the way in and out. Very well located, $12-15 Uber to the Strand and with competitive rates for a very pricy area. If you have any memberships or discounts, you won’t find a better price without dropping down a tier in quality. Our son now lives in the area and this could be our go to.

Great Location Falling Short on Detail
Reviewed By j_crotzerEnjoyable location, professional staff and cleaning crew. High speed internet Is a joke. No difference between free and the $4.99 per day high speed. No way to add additional devices. You’ll only see that menu when you first log in, once you pay, it won’t be available, so don’t waste your company’s money. No coffee , snacks or water available after breakfast. Parking is enforced strictly. Parking ran out 4am and 10pm. 4 am the day I’m checking out. Meter made gave me $$$ ticket, after paying all week. Perhaps the hotel could offer a tag so that you don’t have to get up at 4am to pay for that last day. Not sure our company will allow me to return. With the cost of everything going up, less likely we’ll put up with hotel and city shenanigans.

The main gate of MCB Camp Pendleton is only 750 yards from the hotel and Government Per Diem Rates (with meal credits) are offered, great for TDY, TAD, and PCS.

Reviewed By P2756MDderekwUpon check in I was greeted by a surly lady who didn’t seem to be very interactive and very monotone. Not what you expect when you’ve travelled all day from the UK. Bear minimum of interaction. Not even a remark about being a platinum member or any acknowledgement. In fact still waiting for my welcome points to be credited. She said they would be done on check out. Not had that before and 6 days later still waiting. On check in I presented my card which she said was declined I tried again numerous times and she just said ‘NOT AUTHORISED’ very robotically . After the forth attempt. Tried a different card which she used the same monotoned reply. Then I said I think it’s your machine not my cards. Another guest had the same issue while she looked miserable and didn’t communicate with me. Alas it was a system fault but no apology. Took my id and credit card and photocopied it without returning it to me. I had to ask all the questions about the facilities breakfast times and pool area. Very slack and not a great experience. I think this hotel has got complacent. Good points are the rooms are big if dated and free parking. The maintaince guy was really helpful and polite. Maybe he should train the front desk staff !!!

There’s a married couple that lives in the motel who work front desk! they act like managers but when it’s time to speak to one they say Email the owner!! Me and my family stayed 16 nights at this roach infested hotel and the day of check out we clean everything made sure no damage’s we’re made and they decided to keep our $100 deposit even after the fact I told them those damages were already there plus I had housekeeping confirm that those damages were already there. They still decided to keep my deposit SMH .. I’m sure the married couple kept our Deposit.. they live on property and always mention how they don’t pay rent. the woman walks around being nosy all the time and her husband kept our deposit! after staying 16 nights

NEVER had this bad of an experience!

Plumbing issues and belongings thrown away
Reviewed By 43coramVery disappointed with our stay here. This hotel clearly has a major plumbing issue as at least 4 guests reported sewage smells in their room. We were moved to a new room--and told we could leave our belongings and return to our room once the problem was resolved. Apparently this wasn't communicated to housekeeping and most of our belongings were thrown away, even some items that appear to be stolen (like a bluetooth speaker), and only a few items of clothing were returned to us. I was forced to file an insurance claim with the chain, and they did nothing to help (have offered me a $100 gift card), saying they couldn't verify anything else was in the room. The hotel staff did what they could, comping us one night and some money for our groceries, but it did not begin to cover the total monetary value of the items lost (over $500) or our pain and suffering. We ended up staying in 3 different rooms, and the third room also had recurring plumbing issues requiring an outside plumber to totally remove the toilet. I came to this hotel with my boyfriend as he was recovering from a major accident and undergoing surgery. We came here for rest, and instead we got stress. The rooms were nice, I just wish the experience had been different.

I felt like I was taking a shower in an rv. Mattresses were super old. I only stayed there because it was holiday. Weekend and no hotels were available near by. Horrible place to stay in

BEST IN OCEANSIDE BY A MILE.

Reviews have to be 3 months apart, so having stayed for Thanksgiving also, and writing a review then we didn't plan on writing this review. However last weekend we stayed at the other Wyndham by the harbor, and it was not even close to the amazing Pier Resort. This resort is super friendly, you are made to feel welcome, very clean (both the rooms and comon areas are very well looked after. We have never had a bad stay here. Valerie at the front desk goes out of her way to help (thank you Valerie) Great ocean views, great secure free parking, nice units with a full kitchen, beach just outside your door, it is perfect in every way. If you are not sure which one to stay at, then pick the Pier Resort, you will be glad you did, it is hands down better than the Harbor location.
