Cheap, Clean, Quiet

We stayed here twice (arriving in town and then again when we were leaving Estes Park. During the wedding, we had to stay at the wedding hotel) Hotel was clean and easy to get to. The view was nice too. Breakfast not included but for the price, totally fine Cost: book directly is cheaper than going thru 3 rd party. Plus they have coupon code.

Room had electric space heater, Called 911 twice in one night, neighbors fighting.

Reviewed By Cowboyforever

Coyote is the low end budget hotel. The room used an electric space heater for heat. The front check-in showed hours open until 10 PM. The neighbors in the adjacent room were screaming and fighting after an evening of drinking. I called the front desk at 9:30. No answer. I called the emergency number posted. I explained the neighbors were fighting. She said she would call the police. Nothing. Finally I called 911. Police came immediately. 10 minutes after they left, fighting resumed. I called 911 again. The drunk woman was arrested. Finally my wife and I got some sleep.

Paradise in Estes Park

Reviewed By colorado4ever2011

The best ever! I stayed there years ago but this time I upgraded to a room with a private balcony and I’m glad I did. The room was better than the higher class hotels I’ve stayed in. The bed & pillows were super comfy and had beside phone charger tables built in to the wall on each side. That’s something I’ve yet to see in any other hotel. It looked like everything in the room was new: the fridge, microwave, tv, air conditioner/heater, electric fireplace, and the furniture. The room had a private balcony with a table & 2 chairs so you can sit and enjoy the ducks & geese on the pond. The bathroom was the best! The shower had a rainfall shower head that was wonderful and a built in soap dispenser. Everything was decorated and done beautifully. I woke up to elk just a few feet from the front door, which excited this city girl. The girls at the front desk were so nice & friendly & the breakfast had a good selection to choose from. I am hooked. I will definitely be back.

Appenzell Inn

The Appenzell Inn, is a Rocky Mountain hotel, with a special Alpine flair, expressing the best of our Swiss heritage here in Estes Park, Colorado. We are well known as an ideal year round property, with tastefully designed rooms and suites for couples and families. We also have an indoor pool. The Appenzell Inn offers much more than you would expect from a small hotel property, at a very competitive rate. We are also ideally located close to all the action of downtown Estes Park, Colorado while surrounded by the grandeur of your Rocky Mountain National Park.

Comfortable Basic Motel

Reviewed By cheetahguy

Appenzell Inn is a comfortable, basic motel. Parking is a bit tight; fine for a regular car but too small for a large pickup or full size SUV. There are three buildings (all two story) plus a separate building with an indoor pool. My room had all the basic amenities: refrigerator, microwave, television (did not use), coffee maker, desk area. Bathroom sink had decent amount of counter space and was located inside the bathroom (a setup I prefer to the increasingly common practice of putting it outside). There was no bathtub, shower only (I am in the minority who prefer a bath over a shower). Check-in clerk was cordial but not particularly friendly. My only real issue was figuring out the contactless key fob. I thought the keychain with their logo was the active part but it’s actually a small blue piece of plastic. When I called to ask how to get into my room they admitted a lot of people make this mistake (so why didn’t the check-in clerk explain how to use it?). The key issue is the only reason I give it four stars instead of five. It’s not an upscale motel, but it’s comfortable for the price (everything in Estes Park in summer is expensive). I did not try the complimentary breakfast so I cannot comment. There are no restaurants within easy walking distance, but if you don’t mind a 20-30 minute walk you could go downhill to a main plaza near the visitor’s center.

Very Disappointing

We stayed in cabin #2. The carpet was torn and stained. Kitchen blinds were torn, and the washrags were stained with bleach. The bathroom linoleum was yellow stained. The owners really need to do updates on this cabin. The maid service was good, and the front desk lady was nice and helpful. This is a motel, not a resort!

Don't Trust Them to Honor a Confirmed Reservation

Reviewed By NotThatBryan

I never had a worse experience than with Estes Mountain Lodge. I had a reservation for September 18, 2021 to September 20, 2021 for which paid a deposit for the first night. On August 31, 2021, I called them to change it to September 17, 2021 - September 19, 2021. They told me that they changed the dates as per my request and they sent me a confirming email. When I arrived on September 17, 2021, they told me that although they told me they changed the reservation, they did not process the change in their computer system, and they had no available rooms. As such, I had to find another hotel. Given that I had to find a hotel on the same day, during busy season, I had to pay much more than I otherwise would have paid. To add insult to injury, although Estes Mountain Lodge refused to honor my confirmed reservation, they refused to refund to me my full deposit. Instead, they deducted $20.00 from my deposit as a “cancellation fee.” This is although I did not cancel my reservation. Rather, they refused to honor the reservation, for which I had the email proving they confirmed was to start on September 17, 2021. When I wrote to them later about this, I received no response. I had to contest the $20.00 charge with my credit card company to have the charge reversed.
