Perfect Stay

Reviewed By lebierle

K's House is an ideal place to stay. The staff was kind, helpful, and spoke English. The location was conveniently located 10 minutes walk from the station and the beach. The riverside view was beautiful and the old traditional style of the building was stunning. The tatami floors and futon sleeping arrangements was a fun and inherently Japanese experience. The included onsen was also top tier. Everyone in my party agreed we would love to stay again.

Very friendly and nice location

Reviewed By JohnD209

If you are staying in Atami, this place is great. There is a nice kitchen, soup and rice breakfast is only three hundred yen, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The sleeping space is crowded if you try to put your luggage in too. The showers are clean and plenty of hot water. Toilets do not have washlets. It is about 10 to15 minutes walk from the Atami train station and the guest house sign is a bit small so it is easy to miss. Rooms are a bit warm at night so you might turn off your light and open the door to cool the room off before going too sleep. I would stay here again. Visited 15 November 2018.

Budge Hotel

Reviewed By Comrade_Li

The hotel is located on top of a hill, you have to take a taxi to get up there if you have luggage. It is very basic, rooms are spacious but old. Staff are friendly, the breakfast is basic but filling. The shower is shared but since you would be using the onsen tub in the hotel, there is no need to use the share shower at all.

Hostel Knot

“Izu Peninsula” has beautiful breathtaking nature. This magical place is off the beaten track and we want to open access to this place. Opening a low cost guesthouse will provide the over night stays usually required to fully appreciate the peninsula. From Shuzenji it takes at most 40 minutes to get to west Izu, 75 minutes to south Izu, the tip of the peninsula, 50 minutes east Izu. This is the “knot” we refer to the Hostel Knot. There is also a direct express bus from Tokyo to Shuzenji, which is another “knot” to access between the Izu Peninsula and the Kanto region. In the neighbourhood Izu Velodrome is decided as the venue for bicycle track competition of Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020. In recent years which is also gaining attention from overseas. It is located in Shuzenji, Izu, Shizuoka, also known as “Little Kyoto”, a physical centre of the peninsula when considering transport connections. It is a 1200-year old spa town, the oldest on the peninsula. Izu has something that reminds people with busy lifestyles of the old Japanese ways.

Shocking

Reviewed By Arotake

Not sure why this place has been rated so highly, it was a shocker. It's a second rate hostel that cost us 2/3rds what it cost us to stay in the Ritz Carlton in Osaka. Unclean, tiny double bed, shared bathroom and toilets and had to pay extra just to get a towel, really?? Simply, do not do it!!

Tagore Harbor Hostel

Tagore Harbor Hostel sits right at the water’s edge in the heart of Heda. It boasts a chic interior and has all the comforts needed to relax after a day exploring the traditional port town. On the ground floor are the cafe/bar and a shared lounge. Here, you’ll usually find friendly locals alongside day-trippers and travellers. On the menu, there are an array of well-priced dishes, but the real draw is the great coffee and craft beer options. Upstairs you have a choice of dormitory-style accommodation and double-private and twin-private rooms. The dormitory has lockers for storing valuables and each bed is fitted with a reading light, a shelf, and a shut-out curtain to offer privacy. The private rooms are light, bright, and furnished to the highest quality. Every room has air-conditioning and guests have access to shared bathrooms supplied with essential-oil toiletries and organic toothpaste. Other facilities include a waterfront terrace; bike and fishing rod rental; a good selection of books and board games; maps of the local area; and strong WiFi. But, by far the most spectacular feature of this location is the stunning sea view. Guests can look out over the calm waters of Heda harbour, past the trees of the Mihama Peninsula, and on to the climbing peaks of the South Alps. Photographers grab your camera and head here for the most famous shot of Mt. Fuji. Many people may leave Japan with a photo of this famous mountain behind a lake, but you’ll have to come to West Izu to capture it beyond the ocean. The friendly staff at Tagore Harbor Hostel look forward to welcoming you.

A stylish place, incredible people and stunning scenery

A group of three of us visited Heda Port for the day and were blown away by the picturesque beauty and serenity of the place. The impressive contrast between the mountains and the ocean is a sight sure to clear anyone's cobwebs. For lunch we enjoyed a range of fresh delicious seafoods including many types of sashimi and cooked crab claws/legs for an extremely reasonable price. Afterwards, we had a brief stroll round the harbour and visited Tagore Harbor Hostel for a relaxing craft beer and to enjoy the tranquil harbour view. Tomohiro San and the other staff were the perfect hosts and gave us thoughtful advice for all the activities available in the area, including fishing, hiking and cycling. The craft beers available were rich and full flavoured for a great price and had we not been so full we would've eaten as the food looked lovely. The bar/cafe here are stylised and designed by Tomohiro San himself, and have a unique and chic feel. A truly wonderful place to sit, relax and enjoy the surroundings. We had a look at a room with a great sea view and will be going back in the future to stay (when we don't have to be at work the following day). We were lucky enough to see Mount Fuji over the ocean, a site never to be forgotten and the setting sun on the horizon was breathtaking, as sea birds skim over the calm waters to the backdrop of the iconic Japanese autumnal leaves. A Tori gate sits on the edges of the water and the the shrine is nestled amongst a peaceful wood of cedars. This truly is a wonderful town to visit for those looking to adventure further off the beat and track, a great place to soak up the fresh sea air, food and views. Any photographer's dream. Highly recommended.

Sora is the best. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Rooms are very clean and cozy. There is a kitchen you can use to cook your own food. There is a front yard with a grill you can use to make bbq and chill in the evening. Its very well locatad. A beautiful beach is just a 5 min walk away. There is also a path through the cape that will lead you to other beaches. Unfortunately I didnt have enough time to go snorkeling or kayaking, but if you are interested just ask the owener, and plan it. Special thanks to Masashi and his wife for being such kind and welcoming hosts!
