May 11, 2023 Oliva Fomby

Home to nearly nine million and powering an economy that exceeds both Hong Kong's and Thailand's, Osaka packs quite a punch. The confident, stylish city is a shopping hub, with fabulous restaurants and nightlife. It's an ideal base for exploring the Kansai region; Kyoto's World Heritage Sites, Nara's temple and Koya-san's eerie graves are within 90 minutes by train. Top city attractions include the aquarium, Osaka Castle, Universal Studios Japan and the futuristic Floating Garden Observatory.

Good Atmosphere Great Staff

Atmosphere was really great. Very relaxed with good music playing. Located in an exciting neighborhood and walking distance from Shin-Imamiya station. Staff had excellent english and were very helpful with giving info on regional attractions. Staff went so far as to do web searches and make phone calls to get us more info. Overall very enjoyable. My only regret is I think I may have lost my kodokan judo shirt there(or maybe it was somewhere else).

Uncomfortable upper beds, friendly staff

Reviewed By siel

I spend my last night before my flight out of Japan in Osaka. Inspired by a friend I chose the book and bed hostel. Nice concept but I didn’t like this specific one. Climbing in and out of the upper beds was really uncomfortable - it’s pretty obvious if you see people do it plus it’s mentioned in the reviews but apparently they don’t care. The ‘bookshop’ was more themed decoration for the hostel than anything else. Friendly staff though and close to lots of restaurants. I wouldn’t stay here again but would like to try the book and bed idea elsewhere.

A Hostel to Stay In If You Don't Mind the Smell of Sweat and Smoke and Your Things Getting Stolen

Reviewed By DeeaniG

I've stayed at hostels before, and had a great experience till now. It's a shame to say I cancelled my stay at this hostel. Unfortunately, it fell below expectations and did not match the excellent reviews I saw online. We booked a non-smoking room, only for us to smell the smoke lingering in the room from the other guests. My father and mother, both very sensitive to the smell, had trouble sleeping and continually coughed throughout the night. And even though the hotel acknowledged this issue, they did nothing to solve it. Additionally, the room smelled like damp sweat. Even though we were supposed to be given a "private" room, we only had a little partition separating us from the rest of the dormitory, making us feeling ill at ease when they admitted in their signs of common cases of theft in the hostel. Furthermore, their laundry facilities were absolutely terrible. We tried using the washing/drying machines, but after attempting 4 cycles of drying, the clothes were nearly as wet as when they went in. A staff member acknowledged this as an issue that needed to be fixed when I approached him, but was reluctant to do anything beyond saying he should propose for it to be put out of service so it could be fixed. We left two days in of our four night stay because the conditions grew to be unbearable. I left as soon as my family and I could find another place to stay. The staff apologized but did nothing about our negative experience. I would absolutely never recommend this hostel. There are far better places to stay in Osaka for a better price, better comfort, and better service.

Our concept is to give our guests a little something extra during their stay in Japan. We are offering a hostel that will make even first time visitors to Japan feel like they are at home. Our hostel is much more reasonably-priced than a regular hotel and you can meet and become friends with Japanese visitors and other guests from all over the world.

Just okay

Reviewed By APinBKK

The private room was okay, though the walls were quite thin so noise from the street or hallways was quite loud. The common area on the first floor definitely needs to better ventilated because you will end up smelling like oil if you sit there for any extended period of time. The staff were nice so that was a positive.

Air Osaka Hostel

'Honestly, my favorite hostel in the world. Just stayed there for the 3rd time, atmosphere is amazing, very friendly staff, the hostel is close enough to city center but not in it, so you'll get the vibe of a really cool quite japanese neighborhood. The building is a very clean Japanese style building with a lot of art and cool decoration, also the cafe attached to the hostel adds. Over all, if you're visiting Osaka you have to stay in Air Osaka hostel.' - A guest

Nice and modern hostel

Reviewed By slesa130

This hostel definitely has a hotel feel, the building is large, modern, friendly staff, and even has a great restaurant on the ground floor and sky lounge with a kitchen and view over the city. The rooms are well designed and small things like slippers, amenities and umbrella holders show thoughtfulness which is uncommon in hostels. Although the bathroom is shared, there is a sink in the bedroom which is great. The location is close to the metro which is great, although it is close to a large overpass which can be a little noisy. Overall I would highly recommend this place while youre staying in Osaka!
