Not worth the money
Reviewed By laurelle2019Hotel is modern, clean and has all the necessary facilities. However, it is not very accommodating for disabled people as indicted on website. The adapted rooms for disabilities were not fully thought through. We booked a wheelchair assesibility room. We have some feedback in hope it helps the hotel make these changes and/or help fellow wheelchair user. The door to enter the room is far too heavy and clumsy for a person with limited mobility. They have to manoeuvre their bags the heavy door and the key card. The bathroom door needs a handle bar inside to enable them to close and open the door with more independance and ease. The bathroom mirror and sink is just a bit too high for the standard wheelchair user. The bed is too high for the person to transfer from wheelchair to bed. And the bedside lights are too bright for its position-bedside,making it a harsh awakening.

Reviewed By SeutoniousThe Rex located in the town centre, is well placed to visit the various sights. It is clean and efficient , the staff helpful. The double room being equipped with very useful pull out wardrobes, giving adequate hanging space for two. There are no bedside drawers, only small tables. The bathroom is good, very modern with a separate shower, and a separate toilet room. There are tea coffee making facilities, aircon , fridge. For those who bring a car there is an underground garage.

Reviewed By Voyager25536463566When the weather is nice (and it was real shiny and a blue sky), the view of the mountain is great ! - but you have to go out of your room to see it (as the buildings are oriented north south and the mountain barrier is south south west) ; you can also enjoy the view from the restaurant, that is elegantly decorated in moroccan style and its terrace. The breakfast is quite good and the staff is kind, efficient and very helpfull. The hotel is easy accessed by car, 10mn from city center, bus is not so distant. The bedroom is well equiped, correctly maintained and comfortable, but the construction in itself makes it that it gets old not so well; for instance the wires and tubes are hidden in some special tubes that are not so elegant, but this is a detail; the acoustic barriers are not perfect between levels, but I was lucky to have quiet neighbours upstairs. The sas at entry of room is efficient to thermal and acoustic protection, so you the noise of roads and highways in the vicinity can't be heared.

Reviewed By pinktulipReception didn't open until 5 p.m. There is an automated check in machine but charged 10 euros more for a room. Booking online is the cheapest option. The room was small with tiny side tables and an equally tiny bathroom that had a poorly installed faucet that had to be turned for the water to flow into the sink. There were no towel hooks and only a small set of drawers under the sink. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable but the hotel was very noisy. You could hear the plumbing at all hours of the night along with other noises. It's not located near any restaurants or shops within walking distance and not that close to the airport. The free internet hardly worked at all.

Reviewed By JW30265Very nice small hotel with lovely big room and we had a balcony onto the square which was nice. Very good location and central in the nice little town of Tarbes. Buses leave from the square and you can walk to the station which has good train connections to Lourdes, Paris, Toulouse etc. Though its quite far from the Ouibus stop and as the local buses did not stop to pick us all up at the bus stop in heavy rain where we were sheltering we arrived pretty soaking wet and exhausted at the hotel ! Thank you Alezan bus company (not !) We visited the museum of the Resistance and Deportation which was interesting and worth a visit. Also visited the Massey Gardens and went to see the Breakfit Crossfit competition at the Parc des Expositions. Tarbes has lovely shops and nice restaurants - our favourite is right near the hotel on the square - called Dolce Vita - an Italian restaurant I would recommend. We also visited An Nam right next to the hotel. Also had baguettes at the wee sandwich bar on corner of the square (there is an upstairs seating area) and ate at Domino's which has seating so is ideal. Other restaurants were closed as we were there over a weekend and it was the Monday/Tuesday. Also watch museum opening times as we missed the Hussars museum on the Tuesday as it closed that day. We visited Lourdes as well which was an interesting day out. In the hotel, Jean-Marc the owner is helpful and has put various sayings on the wall which are thought provoking ! and the rooms are themed either with horses or mountains (the third floor !!). Breakfast was good and nice and relaxed with music in the background. We chose this hotel as family members had stayed there 30 years ago so that was fun as we both had students who are studying via Erasmus type programme in Tarbes. Thanks for the stay !

Reviewed By ThiagoC1075The hotel is simple, the toilets are clean but the shower has a curtain that sticks to you because the toilets are so small, if you are looking for a cheap one night sleep it’s okay, the location is far from everything so if you don’t have a rental car or your own transport don’t risk it, there are a number of restaurants and places to eat nearby, within 3-4 miles from the hotel.

You will be welcomed by Catherine and Bruno who will offer you renovated and comfortable rooms with some equipped balconies overlooking the Pyrenees and small tray of courtesy. A bar and a relaxation area is at your disposal to relax and spend pleasant evenings stages. Wifi is free throughout the property, and Canal + in all rooms. Reviewed By YachtjudgeThis is a small 2* hotel. It is run by Bruno and Catherine both of whom were friendly and extremely supportive. Their website and booking details make it clear that they don't open until 1800 on Sundays but when we pitched up at 1755 Bruno came out of the hotel, helped us with our baggage, opened the garage door and showed me where to park. I had asked for a twin bed room. This was at the front of the hotel and I was concerned that there might be traffic noise. However the room had two sets of double glazing and to my surprise it was totally quiet. Everything was clean, the linen was fine, the wifi good, the shower and bathroom fine. My only mild criticism was that for my preference the beds were slightly hard. Breakfast was french continental - excellent croissants, coffee, fresh bread etc. The location is good too. at the beginning of the town shopping centre - easy walk to cafes, restaurants and we were able to find a few open on Sunday night. This hotel is not glamorous but is superbly managed and an excellent overnight stop.

At the Hotel de l'Avenue, let yourself be carried away by its peaceful and family atmosphere. You will be close to the train station and the shops and restaurants of the city center and will be able to visit the city easily

Quintessentially French
Reviewed By stillworkingat68Sited a couple of hundred metres from the town centre, easy access to restaurants. The hotel has a garage and street parking (payable) Room 20 on the first floor was very quiet, shutters and curtains so a good dark environment for sleeping. Facilities resembled those in a good chain hotel, for example, slippers, good size TV, minibar, plenty of power points, excellent ample size rain shower. Price was reasonable, our only complaint, the poor quality and lack of choice for breakfast.
