Fantastic hotel and even better staff!

Highly recommend Hotel Le Beau Site. We were greeted by the most friendly staff, especially Clara, who walked us through the property and up to our room. When we got to our room, the view was the best view I've ever had from a hotel room. Could actually see the lake and the alps while laying in our bed! The staff accommodated us with all of our requests and questions! The owner of the hotel, Francois, took us out on the their boat with wine and appetizers and gave us a boat tour of the lake giving us the history and stories from the different areas! It was amazing! I recommend this hotel and experience to anyone traveling to Talloires!

back to the old glory

Reviewed By schmidtmg

Jean Sulpice took over this institution (which had held 3 stars for many years until the 1980's) in 2014 or 2015 and has restored it to its old glory. The location on Lac d'Annecy is wonderful and the restaurant has been refurbished tastefully and luxuriously. There are two menu options of 6 and 8 courses available at lunch and dinner. The sourdough bread comes from a local baker, and the cumin butter was first rate. In our menu, the first starter of fera, the second starter of monkfish from the lake , and the agneau de lait main course stood out. The cheese course consisted of a small 'salad with Bleu de Termignon, a local Savoyard blue cheese , and a piece of this quite rare cheese.... We had a bottle of local Chignin Bergeron from Quénard, very pleasant. Service was efficient and relaxed, and Jean Sulpice was in the kitchen... une excellente table...

Hotel Abbaye de Talloires

Talloires, the most beautiful place on Lake Annecy is the home to the Abbaye de Talloires, one of the most extraordinary hotels in Annecy. It has everything: centuries of history, a long list of celebrities who have stayed there such as Mark Twain, Paul Cezanne and Jean Reno amongst many others. Fine dining is assured with the Aux Jardins des Delices gourmet restaurant and the light cuisine with the La Table de Cezanne brasserie-restaurant at lunchtime during summer. The historical wine cellar is filled with hidden treasures. Rooms and suites, each one different from the other are offering breathtaking views. The cosy and welcoming Spa; the vaulted bar for romantic evenings; the pontoon equipped with beach beds to escape the world, a wide choice of cultural and sporting activities and so many more. But, above all, it's the people who work here that make this hotel such a special place to stay, the Abbaye de Talloires is the only hotel in France to win twice ( 2009 and 2013 ) 4* et 5* Hotel Customers Trophy Award for its quality of service! !

What a disappointment!

Reviewed By mjs32016

This hotel was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. We decided to 'push the boat out' and pay 250 euros for one night. Not a small amount of money. The location and the photos of the rooms on the website looked amazing! Unfortunately, the reality was quite different. The room was tiny, the size indeed of a monk's cell. We were so disappointed and asked for a different room. We were offered a free breakfast if we stayed in the original room . (They are obviously used to complaints) and also shown another room, which was no bigger. I speak French, so asked to speak to the manager, Isabelle Chauvris. She was 'unavailable' and I was told to ring a number after 7.00pm, which I did several times. She eventually picked up and I explained the situation. Far from trying to find a solution, her attitude was "we are fully booked, so there is nothing I can do." When I complained that the website was misleading, she suggested I check the small print with the dimensions of the rooms. I found her totally unhelpful. So, in the end, we decided to stay in the original room and accept the offer of a free breakfast. We had booked the restaurant that evening but were told the terrace was closed so we would be dining indoors, which was another disappointment on such a lovely evening! We cancelled our reservation. The whole thing was turning in to a disaster but luckily, we discovered a fabulous pizza restaurant, ‘La Savoyarde’ within walking distance of the hotel and right on the lake. The atmosphere was bustling and the food was delicious. The host was very welcoming and the service excellent, despite the restaurant being extremely busy. The next morning, we had the breakfast in the hotel and were quite glad we hadn’t had to pay 25 euros each for dried up, crusty scrambled eggs and coffee from a self-service machine. However, we were in for a shock! When we went to settle our bill, we had been charged for the breakfast. We explained that we had been offered this free of charge, to compensate for the small room but were told that the manager had since withdrawn the offer. I tried to explain that, had we been informed of this decision, we would obviously have had breakfast elsewhere. The poor girl on reception had to keep calling her boss, who refused to speak to us. Consequently, we refused to pay our bill and sat in reception to await attention. Fortunately, the ‘Duty Manager’ Sarah Plewa, had the courtesy to come and speak to us. What a difference! She was polite and seemed genuinely keen to resolve the situation. She immediately took the breakfasts off the bill, we paid and left. On a more positive note, the girls on reception tried their best. Angela was welcoming and insisted on carrying our bags. (I must say though, I am surprised that the hotel does not employ a porter to carry heavy bags up several flights of stairs to the upper floors). The spa up on the top floor was pleasant. I have waited a couple of months before writing this review, so that I would be less upset and more objective. However, the fact is, that this was the most expensive hotel we stayed in on our entire trip and ironically, the room was the smallest! I found the hotel manager’s behaviour both unprofessional and shocking, as she deliberately set out to provoke / upset her guests! The whole experience ruined what was otherwise an enjoyable trip.

Paradise! Single parents treated wonderfully!

Reviewed By Cdmarr

I stayed here in the summer with my daughter. I am a single parent and sometimes that means that you can be overlooked as a guest. Not here. The owners daughter in particular was amazing, considerate and so kind. We enjoyed our stay so much that we kept extending the days, spending time lazing but the pool but with those gorgeous lake views as we ordered lobster rolls and croque monsieur with truffles. I finished a book! Room was lovely, we actually changed to the main house with stunning Mountain View’s. Both rooms were lovely, clean and quiet with Nuxe toiletries. We have had a difficult year and this hotel and staff were just the tonic we needed. We took a boat ride around the lake and dined lake side every night. The food was mouth watering and service attentive. It helped that my favorite wine was in the menu! I also enjoyed both a facial and massage which was so relaxing I fell asleep. I am almost worried to write this review as this place is so special I want to keep it our little secret!

Nice hotel

Great to visit a pleasant but little outdated hotel for a very decent room rate in an area surrounded by excellent and expensive hotels. Swimming pool is outdoor but located in a corner with no wind. The front desk lady is happy to bring your cup of tea, beer etc

Wonderful hotel

Reviewed By yoramk2018

We just come back from a wonderful holiday at the Mouton Blue in Talloires, Annecy lake. The hotel situated on the best place on the slope of the mountain, close to the lake but in a quiet area. The decorations is warm and welcoming. The owner, Justine was waiting for us and helped with our luggage to our room with beautiful view over the lake and surrounding areas. The room is large with little balcony and very big bathrooms, all in very good decorating taste. Justine is full of knowledge about the area and can help to choose a restaurant. We love the next doors restaurant Flora.
