Highly recommend hotel in east Taiwan
Reviewed By Richard HIn the period of Covid pandemic, Kindness Hotel Taitung still keep its high quality of its service. Although the room style is a little old Taiwanese style. However it is very clean and really just like stay at home. The hotel really surprising me is its night snack (from 8pm to 10pm) and breakfast (from 7am to 10am) service. You can enjoy most of traditional east Taiwan seasonal tastes here, such as braised pork on rice (Lou-Rou-Fan), Taiwanese meatballs (Ma-Wan), Taiwanese fish cake(Tain-Bu-La) and so on. You may taste really authentic Taiwanese snack here and no need to go other places. I am here would like to thank restaurant service personnel, Ellen. She is very kind and just like your family. Any question about Taitung she will answer it and without any uncomfortable. If you stay in this hotel and have any question about east Taiwan, try to find her. I will return visit Taitung and I will choose this hotel again.

Very good hotel near station far from center
Reviewed By very-sunnyIt is a really nice hotel just few min away walking distance from Train station located in a quiet area. Rooms are clean , big,modern and bright with all facilities. It is a great option for people with baby and kids as they have great playground open all day and extra spots to play . I got a lovely bed for a baby -better than we have at home . Breakfast is very good with lots of options . With a special offer from Booking.com it was a great value of money . Pity that pools were closed for renovations.

Great staff, shame about the breakfast
Reviewed By Bobby_SoleThe pastries and cafe were very good. The free bikes were the best way to get around the town and the free use of the washing machine was very handy. The hotel is in a quiet area and access is easy. There is plenty of parking at the hotel parking area which is about 50 meters from the hotel entrance although you can load and unload at the front door. The WiFi was reasonably fast and reliable at around 7 Mb/s. The area is quiet and easy to access. The room was big and had plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. the staff were very friendly and helpful. Considering that the patisserie is attached to the hotel there was nothing edible for westerners at breakfast. We had to take our own Orange Juice, Yogurt, cereal, and fruit. There was no bread suitable for toast, we had to ask for more scrambled eggs as they had run out and there was no bacon or proper pastries. The small air conditioner in the room struggled to get the room down to 26 Deg C. The bed was a bit hard for our taste. The hotel does not have a restaurant available for dinner so we had to ride the 1.8km down town for restaurants. The furniture in the room is a bit dated but functional. Since our room faced the east we were woken quite early each day as the curtains were not black out. The bathroom is clean but there is not much room to lay out many things.

Conveniently located in the heart of town
Reviewed By Yvonne KWe stayed 2nts in a two queen bed room on the higher floor. The room was spacious and fairly clean. There was a balcony with a view overlooking parts of the city and out to sea. I would recommend maintaining the balcony sliding door area and balcony so that can guests can comfortably step outside. The breakfast buffet has a variety of options but mostly asian. All foods were precooked and were just ok. It would be a nice touch to offer freshly cooked eggs to order. The dinner buffet was also just ok, the highlight was that you could order freshly blanched green vegetables which was suitable for my young children. This hotel had a lot of foot traffic with coach loads of tourist checking in. Across the road is a night open air market with afew small open air bars. The original railway station site is at the end of this market followed by a shopping mall. If staying on lower floors it could be noisy up until about 11pm or at least before midnight which was when we stopped hearing the entertainment outside from the streets. We booked this hotel 15mins before we arrived to check in and the price point for the room was quite high for the value, granted it was a weekend and last minute. However it is most likely one of it not the best hotel on offer in the town center of Taitung. We met the owner of the hotel upon check in, she was a kind lady and did her best to accommodate us on such short notice and to make our stay comfortable.

No soundproof but nice location
Reviewed By travelogue_voyageRoom is clean. It is just next to Tie Hua village, I basically visited there every day during my stay. Right next to bus station so it's convenient to stay in this hotel. The buffet breakfast is nice and tastes like home dishes. But, the room is not soundproof. I heard dog barks every midnight.

Well located, clean and tidy, nice and modern
Reviewed By AnitaNgaire1Recently renovated the hotel is clean, modern and tidy. The location, right next to the bus station is great, the wifi is flawless and the buffet breakfast hits the spot. The only downsides are the occasional smell of sewage (put a damp towel over the drain the bathroom and it goes away) and that the room was small, giving not quite enough room in the bathroom for toiletries, or in the main room for two people to be able to be moving about easily. Helpful staff pointed us to their sister hotel nearby to hire bikes, and there's hot ginger tea in the lobby in the evening.

Good transit hotel
Reviewed By HildaLimNothing at all around hotel except a 7 Eleven and a convenient supermarket opposite. Hotel room is clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Bed is good. Breakfast on 1st floor serves good enough spread. There's nothing much in hotel except pools - hot pool, hot spa, cold pool, cold spa, swimming pool, steam room and sauna.

Reviewed By HeiveStayed here two nights as part of a group. The hotel is showing some signs of wear and tear, but it's clean and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The free coffee, ice cream, popcorn buffet in the reception was a nice amenity. The breakfast was Asian style with few Western choices, but was tasty and there were lots of dishes to choose from. The location seemed good enough. Not too far from the city center. Right behind the hotel there was something that looked like an abandoned Japanese wooden house, which was kinda interesting to see.

Great hotel with excellent service
Reviewed By EstTravellerI was touring Taiwan with my family and Taitung was just a town we arrived one evening to spend the night there so the location of the hotel was not too important. But looking at the reviews and the map, we chose MATA Taiwan Indigenous Cultural Resort because it was next to the Taitung Forest Park. As bird photography is my hobby, I planned to take an advantage of the location early next morning. MATA is quite a large hotel with free parking on the street outside (there were plenty of free spaces). Hotel staff was very attentive and we can give the highest marks to all the employees we had a pleasure to deal with. Receptionists spoke good English. The room was very spacious, clean and with an interesting interior. It was dead quiet at night and the breakfast buffet was abundant and tasty. Although we spent there only one night, I can highly recommend the place. We would definitely stay there again if ever in Taitung. Oh, and the photo trip next morning was also very productive - I saw and took nice photos of many different species. The park even has couple of hides where you can observe the nature without interfering with it.

Centrally Located with Great Amenities
Reviewed By frankl490Wife and I were here for a night during our East Coast road trip. The hotel was centrally located and easy to find. It has a free underground private parking below which was nice. I didn't have to worry about the security of our car. It has a small café amenity area at the lobby for free snacks and drinks which we loved. Our check in process was wonderful, we were given a very spacious room. One complain is that it has two sinks in two different rooms but only 1 bottle of hand soap. We kept the hand soap by the sink near the shower because it has more space. So no soap by the sink next to the toilet. Which after I've done my business at the toilet, I had to walk to a different room to wash my hands with soap instead of using the sink by the toilet. Just a small complain, no big deal in reality. The bed was clean and comfortable, just the right amount of firmness which is hard to find in asian hotels. Wifi worked great with VPN. Teh hotel was located at a great location which is right next to the nightmarket for dinner. It was walking distance to the Forest Park and Railway Art village. Overall we had a great night here for our stop on our beautiful East coast drive. We will be back.
