Great place to stay

I was a bit worried when reading the reviews, but confident that Pippa wouldn't send us somewhere unless it was nice. The house/chalet has everything that we need and is lovely and warm. The resort is nice and quiet and only a few minutes walk to the ski slope! We booked to be half board and the food is amazing! Lots of choice for both breakfast and dinner which are both buffets. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Small bar in reception not really for the evening but ok for late night hot choc!! Tv a bit small for the room but take your FIRE STICK as good internet and Netflix no problem Ski bus picks up / returns outside to slopes Fridge in room but no coffee/tea making ( little travel kettle) 24 hour mini market next door!! The 3-star Hotel complex LUXOR - Smolyan was built in the winter of 2006. The objective of the investor and the architect was to create a modern, functional complex with attractive vision that in essence demonstrates mastery of detail. The exceptional location of the building - next to the main street of the city - makes it a suitable place for business visits and for rest and recreation. For eight years of existence, Hotel complex LUXOR is formed as a center of interest for both residents of the town of Smolyan, and for its guests from home and abroad. The hotel has 20 rooms, underground parking, conference hall, sauna, gym, shopping center. Hotel LUXOR provides easy access to various opportunities for hiking due to its proximity to the mountain. The famous landmarks of Smolyan are the cathedral of St. Vissarion, Rhodopean drama Theatre "Nikolay Haitov", Historical Museum "Stoyu Shishkov", Planetarum and National Astronomical Observatory "Rojen".
Good hotel and good location in city centre.
Reviewed By Piet dThe Luxor hotel is part of a complex in the city-centre, and at the east-end of the pedestrian area. Reservation over the phone went smooth, and the hotel is easy to find, and has a small underground parking. The room was very good, large and comfortable, with excellent bathroom and wifi. For dinner, I walked into the pedestrian area and found several good places to eat. Sleep was Excellent and breakfast was ok. All in all I can recommend this hotel: Good Rooms, Excellent location.

The hotel-casino is situated in the very center of Smolyan and it offers wonderful conditions for business trips and holidays. Our long-term experience in organizing company events, the free of charge internet connection and the very convenient seminar hall will be very helpful during your stay in Smolyan. After the long working day you can relax in our new and modern wellness center or to have a delicious traditional dinner in the restaurant enjoying the pleasant music.

Reviewed By rosenk178Room was right above the restaurant, extremely loud when there's an event even past midnight. It's a bit loud even if there's no event. Room was decent, no AC. The SPA area was not so great. One of the two saunas was out of service. Pool is pretty nice, although a bit small and gets crowded easily. Wi-fi was come and go, ended up using my mobile internet as a hotspot. The restaurant was decent, not a great number of things you can order, but the food was tasty. Breakfast was good, although if you're vegan there won't be anything for you.One of the waiters took our napkins before we were finished with dinner without asking us. Overall a good place to stay and explore the surrounding area and go on different hikes. Do research the routes yourself, as the staff won't be able to help much. I wouldn't rate this as a 4-star experience.

Reviewed By johnv384I wish I could say one nice thing about this resort. It is vertically designed over eight floors and many buildings without adequate elevator connectivity. There are vertical steps for as many as seven stories to get to your room. These are uncovered and frequently dangerously icy There is absolutely no valet service to help overcome that issue. Rooms have inadequate heating as well as few linens There are two plug in heaters. There are no towels supplied bigger than a dish cloth, very scant bedding and blankets Plan to sleep on the couch as the beds are something that one would find along Route 66 With about 80 years of wear on them. Thin, lumpy and worn out. Unless you are training for a Olympic vertical ladder climb and hazardous conditions I would go any place else but here.

Reviewed By FlyingSpaniardThe staff is very polite. The rooms are clean, and beds are really comfortable. I recommend it for Smolyan. However, the location is far away from the center, but close to the nature, with amazing views to the mountains and lake. I recommend it for Smolyan.

One of the best preserved and most beautiful houses in the Rhodopes is Petko Takova House. It is located in the centre of Ustovo neighbourhood (Smolyan), which used to be an alert and patriotic little village, honoured for its participation in the national battles and educational movement.After complete renovation in 2006 the house has 4 small double bedrooms, 2 standard double rooms and 2 luxury double rooms. The guests would have the pleasure to dine in the authentic style tavern, which seats 35, and offers original Rhodopean dishes and specialties, along with a wide selection of wines and spirits from all parts of the country. In the summer it is even more pleasant and relaxing to sit in the lovely bistro and watch the picturesque mountain scenery. Our family hotel was awarded a Silver Quality Certificate by “Authentic Bulgaria”.
Great meals and great sleeping
Reviewed By mishkoMy wife and I stayed here for two nights in June. Albert, the friendly host, made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. He and Lucy are excellent cooks too, so we ate some great local dishes. Albert didn't want us to pay for breakfast, serving a very good coffee at the same time. The house is a beautiful example of Rhodopean traditional architecture, with a spacious common room upstairs. Outside is an attractive terrace, and as their cuisine is so good, many local people come there to sit, eat, drink and relax. Heartily recommended!

Reviewed By HalDaviesPopped in on a Tuesday evening. Large hotel, so clean and tidy and modern. The you enter the Mehana and it looks great, like a traditional one with lots of dark wood. Nice and warm, good folk music playing, Staff friendly and nice, very good service. Food was fresh, hot, tasty and plentiful. I would recommend the Mehana.

THE GRAND MONASTERY Complex is a comfortable apartment complex, situated in the ski centre Studenets, only 50 metres away from the main ski lift station to Snezhanka peak.
