A lovely holiday
Reviewed By grumandtWe spent a week here in a beautiful suite on the top floor. It was a late booking and we were lucky to be offered this lovely room at a good room rate. A really comfortable bed and linen. Nice touch to have beach towels provided. The staff were efficient and friendly Restaurant was good if somewhat expensive - we thought there were more interesting places to eat in and around Porto Pollo Minor issues were a smell of sewage around the side of the hotel and the lack of staircase hand rail at the top of the stairs. Overall excellent though with a fabulous view and we would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Reviewed By mamat777Superb nice hotel with great sea view. The rooms are slightly outdated but being renovated. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious at both breakfast and dinner. All home made with their own ingredients. The ecologically minding approach in everything they do is really remarkable!

Stunning view on Propriano bay
Reviewed By pascal cThe location is really perfect 2min away from the beach and wonderful view on the Propriano bay. The whole staff is really kind and genuinely caring. Breakfast was really good with everything you can expect from a 3-star hotel. The rooms are very nice. Booking a comfort room is a must as again the sea view is stunning. Also, if you are lucky you will even enjoy seeing four marcassins (wild boar kids) running in the garden, they were so cute ?

Reviewed By DJRangoonThis is a small family run hotel near to Filitosa and Porto Pollo. The host is friendly and welcoming. We stayed 2 nights in a large ensuite room overlooking the swimming pool and surrounded by pretty gardens. Fridge in room, free wi-fi and parking on site. Breakfast is available if you so wish. Would stay again and recommend to anyone.

A great disappointment, dirty and uncared for - a very bad experience
Reviewed By Sabine KReally regretting our decision to stay at Mare e Monti as the accommodation was dirty and uncomfortable . We were shown to our room, 1 double bed and single bed cramped in the corner, the beds sheets were clean.. but that’s about it! The pink blanket on the top of the beds were filthy, the floor hadn’t been vacuumed and was full of sand, dust under and on top of small fridge and months and months of dust on the top of the wardrobe. The small deck hadn’t been cleaned either and the white plastic furniture all stained did not make it an attractive place to relax. The bathroom had been renovated some time ago but the tiles grout in the shower and around the toilet was black with mould and dirt. Also, we struggled to open and close our door as the key would not turn in the lock. One lightbulb above the bathroom sink did not work from day one, we did report it but it was never changed. We had to ask for bath towels almost everyday as the cleaner constantly forgot to leave some. And the toilet paper, one roll as the time…. Times are hard but at 1400 euros for the week, you would think you get a little more. The receptionist came to the room just after we checked in as we complained it hadn’t been cleaned. She acknowledged the state of the place and sent back the cleaner. It was a little better but still not great. On the 3rd day I spoke to the owner/manager, showed him the photos of the bathroom…. His response was unprofessional as he kept telling me that he couldn’t get staff to clean, and it had been so tough for them with the pandemic…. It has been tough for everyone, us included, and it’s just a matter of keeping the place tidy, clean and safe during a global pandemic which was completely ignored at Mare e Monti. He did offer for us to have free breakfast, but we went to local Boulanger for ours, he did not offer a reduction on the final bill. After many excuses, he finally said in would send the cleaner for 1 hour. It was cleaner but the damage had already been done. The dark on dark wood and dirty floors make the room feel smaller and dark. Impossible to set the air con temperature making too cold. We did not look forward to go back there each evening and felt tired as the we couldn’t get decent sleep all because of the poor state of the place. Managers/owners of small businesses can also grab a pair of gloves, sponge and cleaning products and lead by example. Not the case at Mare e Monti, but still happy to take our money.

Highly overpriced

It seems that nothing was done since there were built 30 years ago, except some renovation in bathroom and repainted walls, windows, doors. Not so clean inside. There is poor sound insulation so you can clearly hear your neighbours snoring and electric generator few hundred meters away in the restaurant. Was not easy to find staff once we've arrived in the evening. It was nice that staff spoke English and was helpful.

Exceptional
Reviewed By Arkos73We haven’t been able to make our trip to Corsica last year and to be honest were a little bit scared of what to come this year… We still managed to make it to l’Escale and we were absolutely wowed by the establishment. We made of l’Escale our mandatory stay when we are in Corsica and it was such a relief to see how magical this place continue to be. They didn’t rest on their laurels during the lock-downs time and improved what we though was already of the greatest standards. The rooms are great, the food locally sourced and of the highest standing, which this Corsican authenticity to it. And what a location! We are already delighted to come back next year!

Comfortable modern apartment with a wonderful sea view
Reviewed By 615jacquisWe stayed in the studio apartment and it offered all we could need. Comfortable bed, modern bathroom, excellent kitchen facilities, clean pool with sun loungers. There is a bakery, butcher with grocery and a bar on the doorstep. The pristine beaches are a short walk away (under 5 mins.) The owner and staff were friendly, welcoming and were often available at the property for any help or advice. Great location for exploring this beautiful region. We loved it!
