Reviewed By Jacquie HDid not like our room which was tucked away at the back end of hotel. Noisy from street. Uncomfortable bed. Horrible curtain at window, Furniture odd and not comfortable or user friendly in any way. Tea/coffee making facility poor. Had to find plug on floor for kettle. Paper cups. Not good coffee or tea. Room not made up after first night so had to get clean towels from reception. Shower flooded the floor! Put off having breakfast as not proper coffee.... This is France for goodness sake! Worst of the three hotels we stayed in.

Reviewed By annH1684MAThe building is really nice but not well maintained. After paying way too much for the service, my doctor just confirmed that I got bedbug bites so I now have to pay for cleaning & dry cleaning of all my clothes.

Great overnight stop, very good value
Reviewed By Helen AA lovely find on the outskirts of Semur. Large old house that has undergone major renovations and now offers an eclectic mix of modern African and Medieval French décor. Our room was extremely large with interesting beams in the ceiling and a newly fitted bathroom. Our only complaint was that you couldn’t take a proper shower as the shower was on the bath taps with nowhere to fix it. The breakfast was generous and good quality. It’s only a short walk into the very interesting town of Semur which has many restaurants.

Worth a look just for the scenery
Reviewed By Kay MWe were on a half day tour out of Dijon, and this was one of the stops. Wow. It was gorgeous along the river. We walked theough the charming city center and stopped for a pastry. There are a few shops but the history, architecture and panorama are well worth a side trip to this town near Dijon.

Reviewed By tintinFR75Voilà une adresse que l’on souhaiterait garder secrète et juste pour soi. Le lieu est splendide, le cadre a été rénové et aménagé avec un goût exquis. L’hôte des lieux et son équipe mettent aussi la barre très haut en termes d’accueil et de service ! Bref, chaque minute passée en cette demeure chargée d’histoire et maintenant de culture est un délice pour le vacancier en quête de luxe et d’authenticité ! Et le privilège d’un échange avec le propriétaire rendra votre séjour définitivement inoubliable pourvu que vous fassiez montre d’un peu de curiosité ;-) Nb. N’oubliez pas de tester également ABSOLUMENT le restaurant des lieux !

Reviewed By MariG82We highly recommend this beautiful, historic, truly magical, grande maison. Very clean, our room was well appointed and bright with amazing views out our windows. The tower terrace is perfect for the view, a glass of wine, or time to just soak up the history and beauty. Luc and Cécile are attentive, charming, energetic hosts with great ideas of things to do locally and regionally. Semur is conveniently located near Muséo Parc Alesia, Dijon, Beaune, Guédelon Château Forte, Vézelay, wine tours.... The restaurants in town were superb,, from traditional to gourmet.. We also appreciated Luc's English. Just couldn't have been better!

batisse du 18eme siecle, bel escalier central en pierre, parquets ou dalles de bourgogne au sol, murs en pierres apparentes, le cachet ancien est bien présent. Accueil au bar où vous pourrez déguster un bon café, un apéritif ou un rafraichissement dans une ambiance musicale modérée. la rue avec ses vieux pavés fait un peu de bruit lors du passage des voitures et nous n'y pouvons rien. L'emplacement en centre ville est un plus indéniable avec toutes ses commodités aux alentours, vieux centre et remparts de la cité médiévale à deux pas. Bienvenue a Semur en Auxois.

Reviewed By S6167BQpaolomThe only positive thing is that it's close to the city centre. The room is ugly. The room "door" (if we can can call it "door") can't be locked carefully. I've never seen a shower/tub without a curtain or glass wall so you can't have a shower without flooding entirely the bathroom. Wi-Fi: yes, we have it, ask to reception for the password; the reception is closed on sunday.... Terribly expensive for what you get.
