Overall good hotel. Room was a little worn, furniture could have been updated. The location is good, very walkable. The restaurant was good, good cocktails in the bar and restaurant. I would stay here again if convenient but will probably try another place next time.

Fantastic hotel!

Reviewed By Casinoroyale72

This beautiful hotel made for a great 4 night base in Santa Fe. We had two rooms and a family emergency the day of check in. The manager at the time was reassuring that if we would need to leave, no problem and offered me an upgrade for my room. (We ended up staying all planned nights). The location is fantastic- walkable to the central area of Santa Fe. Lots of green space around if you have a pup. Two nights we didn’t feel like going out for dinner so had the kick back food as a snack with the drinks. Nice perk. Breakfast buffet is ok and didn’t change. It was nice that they used real plates, utensils and glasses vs plastic ware. Rooms are beautiful. They have great art around the hotel- fun to look around. Probably the best part is the employees. Everyone was friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Special mention to those working in the food/beverage area- constantly clearing plates with a smile on their face. The managers circle around to make sure everyone is happy and give you “last call”. I really can’t find fault with this hotel. Full recommendation from me and if I find myself back in Santa Fe, this is where I will stay!

This hotel was GREAT highly recommend! It’s a splurge but we got a free breakfast, $15 credit and a welcome gift—which pays for itself if you try to stay at a cheaper hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Guests were friendly. Hotel has special touches that give you a sense of nostalgia. Heated pool, cozy rooms. They even had nightlights in the bathroom and puzzles downstairs—it’s the little details for me! Located in the plaza so you can easily walk. Family owned hotel and they have a couple employees who have worked there for 40 years—that says a lot about the owner and quality of hotel. Already planning my next trip and will definitely stay here!

Wonderful Experience in a Great Location

Really enjoyed our 6 night stay at the El Dorado. The room was very good size and we had a balcony facing the mountains. The pool area was great with very comfortable lounge beds. The hotel was quiet at night which we always appreciate. We were able to easily walk to the Santa Fe Plaza and all the museums and numerous restaurants. The valet service was convenient and quick. I got several ideas from watching the Heritage Hotel Channel on the tv. The staff was very pleasant and we spoke to the General Manager a few times in the lobby. He suggested Tia Sophia's restaurant where we had 2 good breakfasts. We enjoyed live music in the lobby a few nights. We really enjoyed our visit to Santa Fe and are so glad we chose this hotel.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE PRETTY PICTURES.

In summation, the photos on the website show rooms nicely furnished and looks updated. Our check-in process took over 30 minutes, but the front desk ladies were doing their best. One surly (and line cutting) young man went on a tirade, and the other check-in gal was dealing with folks who used a third party booking app and were not happy with unexpected additional charges. The young man was pretty abusive to the desk staff, and as someone in who works in public service, these ladies were handling him well. Our room was moderately clean, but the bed looked very different from the online photos. Not even a bed skirt, so it just looked like a room that would be a Motel 6… not the boutique hotel advertised. The decor is nice, but when the bathroom tub has a long line of soap ring, the fixtures are dated, and there is mold and stains in the shower tiles… not worth the price. The towels were clean but the scratchiest I’ve had in a long time in our travels. Lots of cracks in bathroom walls. Maybe we just had a bad room. We also only had one nightstand, which seems a basic for a king room with two occupants. At our room entrance, there were Tupperware containers with old food sitting at the door. There is also a shady looking apartment complex next door, and we will just say we had serious concerns about our vehicle not being broken into. If prices were significantly lower, I’d say the place does in a pinch. It is not a boutique hotel, despite the photos, which shows restaurants/bars not open anymore. It looks like a place that was great 30 years ago. We hope new owners invest in this place, which could be restored to its former glory.

$450 - $500 a night for Motel 6

Non-working fridge ("they're old"), no light or grab bar in slippery tub (asked 4 times for a rubber mat and was finally told I could go buy one or wear flip flops to shower), dirty room service trays left out all day, luggage cart blocking elevator door, and more. Before posting this I sent two emails to see what kind of response I'd get. After the 2nd, I was told I could talk with them but that in future I should contact Guest Services and they'd love to have us back. Sort of like when you get sick at a restaurant and they offer you (maybe?) a discount on your next meal. I really don't want to go back, and I can't recommend it to my relatives who wanted to go or my friends in Santa Fe. I'm sorry if they're short-staffed, but then don't charge luxury hotel prices for poor service.
