Great stay near Mount St Michel

The hotel is located on the main street in Pontorson within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The hotel room was nice with a good sized bathroom and shower. The hotel also has a free parking lot with plenty of space behind it. The hotel attendant was really nice and the breakfast is worth it for the extra charge.

The manager can be a little bit gruff, and the bathtub/shower combinations could benefit GREATLY from the discovery of the wonderful world of shower curtains and shower rods. However, I'm still giving this quaint French hotel a 5-star review, because they were simply wonderful hosts to a youth music group I brought there for a 3-night visit! Let me give you 10 separate reasons why I LOVE Hotel Ariane, and would stay there again in a heartbeat: 10) Wonderful breakfast buffet, with large selection of foods, and the best croissants I have ever eaten in my entire life!! 9) Simple and clean rooms with comfortable beds. 8) Lots of cafes, chocolate shops, boutiques within walking distance. 7) Near Mont St Michel (about 10-minute drive), and in a very safe area for walkers and joggers 6) Comfortable bar area, with good selection of drinks at decent prices 5) WONDERFUL CHEF, who we loved and who loved to watch our group, as we rehearsed in their lovely courtyard. Chef made decadent desserts that were mouthwateringly delicious! 4) Wonderful, sweet hostesses and waitresses in the restaurant. Accommodated my wife's gluten allergy very well, and were careful in serving her, which was appreciated. 3) Reasonable prices for the level of accommodations. This place isn't trying to be a luxury accommodation, but they are VERY good at what they are trying to do, and the niche they are trying to fill. 2) Tremendous coffee at the breakfast area. It would be nice if they got a second coffee maker to avoid lines, but the quality was outstanding. 1) They treated our 10 teenage performers with kindness and respect during our 3-night stay. They gave us freedom to rehearse, cheered for us, served us delicious food, gave us clean rooms, and presented us with a wonderful value for the money spent. If I ever am blessed to be in this area again, the Hotel Ariane will definitely be my hotel of choice!! God bless the folks of this quaint and lovely French hotel:-)

Very nice owner with excellent breakfast
Reviewed By Marjorie47360The room at the hotel was a bit of the old-fashioned French variety with each bath fixture opening directly into the bedroom without sound isolation. For the price it is fine but I would advise staying closer to Mont St. Michel as the hotels are more up to date although lacking in charm. The breakfast was copious and included in the price and one can help themselves to coffee or tea at any time which is a lovely aspect to the place. the town is rather drab but does have many boulangeries and restaurants and creperies and was chosen by me because there is a public bus to take to Mont St. Michel from the railroad station, about a block away. The parking situation fro Mont St. Michel sounded really complicated so I tried to avoid it by stqying in Pontorson, but now that I have been there, I think the parking would have been fine. Very nice to sit at breakfast and talk with other guests from other countries.

Reviewed By AlbertVictorWe had a great evening meal at this restaurant. We were staying overnight in Pontorson during a cycle trip through Normandy and Brittany. There are several restaurants to choose from in this town. We didn't want anything to pricey or formal. The three of us all wanted a beer before dinner in a jolly restaurant. This place seemed to fit our requirements perfectly! It turned out to be a great little restaurant with very friendly service. The prices were very reasonable including the drinks.

Reviewed By Andrew WOnly used the resturant not the hotel. Food was good, unfortunatly the service was little slow. Set menu prices not too bad. Best to arrive before 8.30 as the service seems to stop which seems to be the same in most of the local resturants except the fast food type outlets.

Reviewed By Compass53880454055Nous avons passer un excellent week-end au gîte la chambre était propre et très bien placé pour passer un séjour au mont saint Michel qui ce situe à quelque kilomètre de l’appartement ( 15 minutes en voiture ). Le logement est facile d’accès on peux ce garer très facilement dans les rue voisines et ça gratuitement !

Wonderful stay!
Reviewed By anoukvaneI highly recommend this place! The old house is beautiful, the owners are very welcoming and serve a very tasty (homemade) breakfast (try the marmelade!). I love the animals in the garden. The location is perfect for visiting Mont St Michel, St Malo and Cancale.

Reviewed By FaxpatShould be called a hostel, rooms are very basic and are badly in need of modernisation. we were charged €58 for a double room, breakfast was another €9.40, which was basic enough. on the plus side its a short walk from the village center.

Perfect, fabulous - the hotel and the restaurant
Reviewed By Alison SWhat a find. We stayed at Hotel Eugénie just for one night and wished it was more. Our room was clean, quiet, exceptionally comfortable and very well equipped. The restaurant menu provided plenty of choice and the food totally delicious, presented beautifully and accompanied by very professional service. I would not hesitate in highly recommending this hotel.
