Comfortable Respite During the Camino
Reviewed By burdman79I began my Camino in Leon after flying in from Madrid and a bus to Leon. This was a welcome rest in a like new hotel in a beautiful historic city. Very modern nice fresh and clean. As a MARRIOTT Gold Member for the last several years Marriott always does a wonderful job and this was no different. I arrived very late after missing my bus in Astorga and after walking several miles from the bus station to the hotel I did not arrive until 10 pm or later and they held my room. Nice job!

Reviewed By donaldmJ8961FNThis was the best lodging of our Camino so far. Large twin room with very comfortable beds (they have bunks too). Readily adjustable room temperature. Large bath with very hot water. Laundry with both machines (pay) and sinks for hand washing (free), with spacious drying racks and even a space heater blowing warm air on drying clothes. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t evaluate.

Splendid view The rooms a bit outdated but the location is impatable You have a subteran parking right under the square with an exit very close to the hotel. The price is 10 eur per day which is a very affordable one

Reviewed By jeanmR3744WYThis is a basic Hostal in Ponferrada. It’s about 1 km from the Castle. There is a cafeteria attached. The woman attendant at Cafe and Hostal speaks excellent English. Our room was clean and big and adequate. It’s not luxurious but it’s inexpensive and a good place to stay. Laundry nearby is a bonus.

Hostal Nirvana is a modern hotel located in the centre of Ponferrada, just 450 metres far from the main square Plaza de Lazurtegui and 10 minutes walking from the Templar Castle. The comfortable rooms feature private bathroom, TV, desk, air-conditioning as well as WIFI connection. The accommodation has its own bar, a communal lounge with TV and a computer room with internet access. Only 2 minutes walking from the The Bus Station and 100 metres far from the Camino de Santiago route. The Toralin Stadium and Rosal Shopping Centre are 5 minutes far from the guest house. Ponferrada's Train Station is 10 minutes walk away. A variety of shops, bars and restaurants can be found nearby.
Incredible service
Reviewed By Monica IWe have been walking El Camino de Santiago and when it came to an end we had to get to Ponferrada to make it back home. When we got to the city we randomly chose Hostal Nirvana to stay at - it's close to the bus station. And what a brilliant choice it was! The room is lovely - clean, up to date and spacious. But what makes the place stand out is the restaurant. Not only is the food incredible - the aioli alone will make you return over and over again. But the service is impeccable! Our waitress (whom we regrettably did not get the name of) was the definition of the perfect waitress. She was friendly, knowledgeable and wonderful to speak with. She is most definitely an asset to Hostal Nirvana and should we end up in Ponferrada again we will undoubtedly return!

Reviewed By MoiraClare1The proximity to the Knights Templar Castle was absolutely fantastic and the people were very pleasant. We loved the balcony overlooking the castle and the room was fine. We really appreciated the lift! But the lights were very dim; a dead bulb didn't help. The shower was so tiny it was unsafe. Also dangerous was the lack of sensors for the lights in the hallways. The night was cold - an extra blanket would have been welcome. The wifi didn't provide Internet access. The door key was tricky to manipulate, the bathroom taps were loose, one of the beds was really squeaky and two people need two bedside tables. We arrived unexpectedly early so were willing to wait but each time we were given had to be extended because the room still was not ready. This happened three times. Our breakfast was very meagre. Toast and coffee and one orange (only when fruit was requested). An enquiry about yoghurt was met with a shake of the head. We expected better as we had a brisk, cold walk ahead.

Reviewed By LoopyLouRTWThis hotel suited our needs perfectly. The room was very small, clean & basic so would not suit someone looking for luxury but if you’re looking for a basic budget option this is a good choice. Public underground parking is right beside the hotel & costs €12 for 24 hours.
