Wonderful holiday experience at the Iberostar Cristina
Reviewed By Jacks210394Just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Iberostar Cristina with friends. We were delighted with our choice of hotel which was everything described on the website and more. Highlights were the very friendly and efficient customer service in all areas, the excellent evening entertainment and the quality and variety of food in the restaurant which was the best we’ve enjoyed in a hotel of its 4 star rating with many options freshly cooked to order before you. The hotel is well equipped and furnished with housekeeping staff constantly at work keeping communal areas clean and tidy. We took the ‘All Inclusive’ option but this would be more accurately described as ‘Full board with alcoholic drinks at meal times’ as at other times only non alcoholic drinks are included due to recent changes in local by laws. Also, this is very much a family oriented hotel with the bars closing at midnight but there are plenty of bars on adjacent streets and along the beachfront just a few minutes walk away. Location is ideal too as it is situated midway along the bay with easy walks along the pedestrianised promenade to Can Pastilla and Playa D’Arenal. We would definitely be happy to visit the Cristina again or any other Iberostar with confidence if this is indicative of their standards of service and would strongly recommend it. Reviewed By T9539QVrichardcPros: Close to Palma Lovely lobby and bar Lovely smell in the hotel Staff so friendly and always want to help (with the exception of a chef in the buffet) Good star prestige breakfast Great coffee (americano) Cons: The area is full of drunks and very lively (reminds me of blackpool) - very noisey all day Pool area needs TLC Rooms are small and not cleaned very well - the mini bar had not been refilled (there was half a coke in the fridge), the sink leaked, no nice tolietries, the floors were not cleaned well No bath just shower (I was in a support boot due to an achilles rupture) so they put a stool in the shower for me - not ideal Breakfast buffet average - we only ate there once for breakfast - the chef on the station refused to poach an egg for me The rooftop terrace has no pool and the canapies are limited (there is no free alcohol) The star prestige is a must but does not offer value for money - you can access the rooftop and have the better breakfast. The star prestige area in the lobby is very random (anyone can walk into it and help themselves to food)

Food on offer was pretty amazing, so much choice. Pools were great and easy enough to get a nice spot around the pool.

Beautiful location, close to the airport
Reviewed By denimlBeautiful hotel, smiling welcoming staff at reception. l needed a break and l decided to book 3 nights at the Caballero hotel. The room is beautiful and newly refurbished. The guy at reception put me in a separate section of the hotel but conveniently connected with the main block where reception and all other amenities are. As the weather wasn't great l had the chance to appreciate more the hotel and its gym and indoor swimming pool. The continental breakfast served in the morning offers a wide range of food so l enjoyed eating there. As it gets very busy l highly recommend to get there a bit earlier to avoid long queues at coffee machines (coffee is not great though...!) Personnel is kind and friendly but they are too stressed with cleaning tables and rearrange them for the next guests: l was alone and every time l had to grab more food or a coffee l couldn't get back to my seat as it has been promptly cleaned and new guest were already sitting. that happened many times as l ended up telling to the waiter to refrain from doing that. l am not going to leave my phone or wallet or bag just to show them that my breakfast is not over yet. Apart from this l absolutely loved the waitress preparing waffles in front of customers. l would definitely go back to caballero hotel in the future.

Reviewed By gmcguire1992Overall we had a lovely holiday. We have visited the Iberostar Selection Sabila in Tenerife so naturally use this as a point of comparison. We comment as follows:- Positives 1. Wonderful welcome by the Reception Team. Flawless check in. 2. Amazing room - we were upgraded to a suite with incredible views of the sea. The room was impeccably clean. 3. Food was pleasant and replenished frequently. 4. Pool area was great with all round sun and plenty of comfortable sun beds. The life guard also enforced the no floats policy which was good - for a 5* hotel you don’t expect huge lilos and rubber rings. 5. Great location - right on the beach and a ten minute taxi ride to the airport. Negatives 1. Food - as I have said above, the food was pleasant and inoffensive. However, it was quite repetitive and not much choice. 2. Staff - the staff were admittedly stretched, with one member saying that they had been asked to work the full 7 days in a row. 3. Around the pool you generally had to order drinks from your sun bed. If you went up to the bar, you were told that they would be served to you at your bed. More often than not, the drinks would take in excess of 20 minutes to arrive and that’s if they could find you! 4. The sunset bar was similar - bar service was not permitted so you had to wait to be served. Again, the service was slow. 5. The indoor bar shuts in the evening. This isn’t ideal when the only other bar is the sunset bar which is largely uncovered. One evening it was raining and naturally the only covered area at the sunset bar was busy and crowded. We found cover in the inside bar area and went to the sunset bar to order a drink, but as there is no bar service, my husband had to locate a very wet seat and wait to be served before bringing them down to me. This is not acceptable for a 5* hotel. 6. Similarly, at dinner you were offered wine or beer (due to the local rules). However, to actually get the attention of a member of staff to order the drinks was another matter. They were so stretched that when they did take your order, you would be forgotten about or served the wrong drinks. 7. I can only eat gluten free foods and the desserts on offer were very poor. Most mousses contained a biscuit topping and on some days the ice cream, which I can eat, was topped with a cone for decoration which contained gluten. Upon querying my options with the chef, I was offered fruit or rice pudding. However, some of the more appetising desserts could’ve been made gluten free quite easily. Overall, we had a lovely holiday but probably would not return. The hotel is unfortunately not a 5*.

The THB El Cid is an adults only hotel located on the beach front. Direct access to the Playa de Palma promenade. The hotel has 2 big pool areas, a buffet restaurant, snack bar and pool bar. Tennis court, free wellness area with indoor pool and sauna. Massages with extra cost. The rooms are all refubished with free wifi, air conditioning and fridge. Very close to the airport and Palma city.
A few handy tips
Reviewed By Dave-and-Barb100Just a few helpful tips from our recent trip- Take tea bags and coffee as those provided were never topped up. No freezer in the fridge so ask for ice cubes from the bar if you wish to drink in your room. There was no entertainment during the 2 weeks at the end of May 2022. We were told it was due to covid restrictions. Local buses to Palma or Arinal were only 2euros pp Very frequent. Remember your face masks. We pre-booked the Soller train and tram online with limited times available. There was no need as there were plenty of tickets available at the station and with more available times. Safe boxes at the hotel were 3€/day. A local tax was payable on arrival. Taxis to the hotel are around 8euros including cases. The hotel was spotless. The cleaners never seemed to stop.

The hotel is close to Palma city center and everywhere we wanted to go. It's got a modern feel to it which I liked. Breakfast was good with lot's of fresh fruit and all the usual stuff. Pastries were tasty. We'd recommend staying here for any people needing a very good, comfortable place to stay whilst exploring the city of Palma.

Comfortable room, Good breakfast and lovely staff. I really big shout our to Silvana and Nemora who provided an amazing Spa treatment for us both. I recommend booking that experience.

Reviewed By Anne4556Clean, bright & modern hotel. Fantastic location & beautiful views from balcony 4th floor. Shame shower & toilet/sink not completely enclosed as would have been perfect. However leaving the surrounds opaque on shower & toilet made it very awkward & we had to take it in turns to leave the room when someone else showering etc. Breakfast good. Dinner nice to sit at front of hotel watching the coast/people passing by. However never had veg. Pad Thai which it mentioned on menu & needs more vegetarian options. Shame pool bar not open as would make busier atmosphere round the pool. Overall good stay.
