A beautiful bed for the night
Reviewed By rachelbX7115QGWhat an amazing find! My husband and I stayed for one night but will be certainly be returning. We were greeted by the very friendly owner who showed us round. We were given a choice of rooms based on what type of mattress we preferred. Our room was stunning and extremely large. It was lovely to sit out on the balcony with the gorgeous views before heading out for our evening meal. The hotel is packed with period feature and is exceptionally clean. Breakfast in the morning was very tasty and plentiful and accompanied by beautiful music. We were worried about staying in a hotel with COVID but everything was safe and distanced whilst not losing any charm.

Reviewed By LivinginCynJust a few footsteps from a fantastic bakery down the street and, of course, the old town right across the parking lot! Just follow the church spire! The hotel is a little dated, but don't let this fool you. The hotel is quite clean and perfectly suitable for a brief stay in this town.

Reviewed By CheddarisgorgeousThis was my first visit to Parthenay and Trevor and Dorit's home (although my partner had stayed before) - and it wont be my last! We were so genuinely warmly welcomed and made to feel this was our home whilst staying here. Our room, although simply appointed, was extremely comfortable and very clean and full of character including a stone trough. The house is Medieval and does have stairs and characterful layout. The breakfasts were amazing with everything you could desire and more! Made extra special by the home made specialities of the region and jams. No where else have I stayed has matched Dorit's breakfast and care to ensure we had all we wanted. The location of Maison Saint Jacques is perfect, in the centre of the Medieval town. Cannot wait to return!

Good cheap hotel
Reviewed By AdyWiltonA good, cheap hotel with no frills in a good location with free public parking close by. Hosts/owners/staff were all very friendly and helpful. As budget hotels go this is par for the course, room is sparse but adequate with half a dozen coat hooks, small television but light controls on only one side of the large comfortable bed. En-suite is okay, although a couple of towel hooks wouldn't go amiss, but the towels were pleasantly large. Breakfast was a bit limited but adequate and the old men playing 'belote' on the next table after their early morning ricard a plus. If you wan't somewhere cheap, clean and central to stay then you couldn't go far wrong with this hotel.

Absolute peace and quiet in a beautiful chateau, superbly appointed apartment had everything we needed. Quality furnishings, helpful and friendly staff. Secure, clean and comfortable. What else do you need to come back to after a day exploring

Reviewed By Rig-HarryIn a very nicely restored maison bourgeoise, we had a fantastic stay with welcoming and friendly guests. Rooms are spacious and very confortable, beautifully decorated, breakfast fantastic with load of delicious home made brioches, jams and yogurts.

Reviewed By gdn1947We stayed at the Relais de Lilas recently for one night. The Relais is located on the Parthenay ring road and is not, in my opinion, walking distance to the town. The initial impression is favourable. We were met at reception by a young man who was very helpful with check-in and advice. we were allocated Room 45 which is some way from the reception. First impression of the room was OK, it appeared to be clean and in good decorative order. We did wonder why the roller blinds were down. The reason soon became clear! The patio door window could not be secured, indeed the locking mechanism was non existent, broken and not repaired I guess. The bathroom, although fully functional and clean, was rather dated. As the building is located away from town, we decided to eat dinner in the restaurant. I am very pleased to say that it was a great meal, well prepared, presented and served. The best steak I've had in a long time! We found that the wifi was very unreliable. Maybe we were to far from the router location (reception)? Breakfast was good with the usual continental breakfast fare. For our one night stay, the restaurant and the service outweighed the disappointing aspects of the room.
