Reviewed By davlew14Decided to make a stop at the top of the Grimsel pass during a recent Saturday bike ride. Great sun terrace and al fresco dining overlooking the glacial lake at the top of the Grimsel pass. Fast and efficient service. Reasonably priced for a remote location. Excellent coffees

All rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV.

Reviewed By markjhollowayThe hotel is easy to find, towards the rear of the Oberwald village, away from the road and close to the cows! We were immediately made to feel welcome and even introduced to the lovely family dog, The room was spacious, with comfortable beds and a lovely balcony we used for some evening drinks, while watching the sunset and the cows. Dinner in the restaurant was simple and delicious, served with a friendly smile and very fast. Breakfast was the typical simple, Swiss style buffet breakfast: meats, cheeses, yoghurts, cereals, coffee, fruit juices and breads. We loved our stay there, particularly how friendly the family running the hotel were.

Friendly family hotel, quiet location, excellent ristorante
Reviewed By Petra PWith a friend I spent a few nights in the family Hotel Ahorni. My rooms was comfortable, I even had a balcony. From my window I looked into the forest, just trees that said "good night" to me, when falling asleep quietly. The restaurant of ths small hotel was a surprise (we knew and liked the cook from other places at Oberwald) and the wines on the menu were not overly priced. The service was very attentive fullfilling all our special wishes (for example once I just felt like a bouillon to start my meal, and I received that, though it was not on the menu). The Hotel Ahorni is a good option at Oberwald - and Oberwald is a convenient place to stay, when doing cross country skiing in the Goms - the tracks pass right behind the hotel.

Swiss authentic experience
Reviewed By Mira CFor the second time past weekend, I had a unique experience at Rhonequelle. The first time, which was a year ago, I spent a romantic weekend with my husband at this place. And a year later, we returned with the whole family - the kids and their grandparents. We had a wonderful time. Both times, we were lucky with a fairytale landscape- it snowed and we could go sledding, build a snowman or play in the snow, go for a walk in fairytale land and enjoy the company of the helpful, warm and friendly owners of the place. The food was excellent and the recommended wine perfectly blended in with the tasty chosen menu. We ate the typical Walliser tomato-cheese-FONDUE, as well as other classic Swiss dishes of top quality. The rooms are nicely furnished - great style and taste- perfectly clean and yet cozy. Only to recommend! No doubt.

Quaint hotel in quiet village
Reviewed By Joanna55_11When our booking to another hotel fell through in Oberwald we were able to find room at this hotel. Even though the owners did not speak English they were friendly and helpful. This is an old fashioned looking wooden chalet. It is reasonably close to the train station which is important becuase there is no bus or taxi in Oberwald. The breakfast was good with fresh fruit. There is no lift. The bathroom was oldfashioned with a bath with a small hand held shower. On Wednesdays the hotel is closed so you cannot eat there. We had a room overlooking the street on the other side you overlook the mountains.

Beautiful setting
Reviewed By Ron BSeemingly on top of the world. The food rated in our group from really good to mediocre. When visiting the restaurant be sure to order from the full menu as the shortened menus did not indicate any beverages. Being dumb Americans we assumed water would be provided. As it turned out, we paid CH 8 franks for each carref that we ordered. Live and learn.
