August 5, 2022 Frederic Celentano

Natchez, the oldest settlement on the Mississippi River, has more antebellum houses than any other place in the United States. Many of these historic homes are open for tours. The friendly local people welcome visitors to their historic city with warm Southern charm. Tour the homes, the Grand Village of the Natchez and the Natchez Museum of African American History and Culture. Festivals and celebrations occur often throughout the year. For gamblers, the riverboat gaming experience is a fun and fascinating change from ordinary casinos. Active visitors will enjoy great golf, tennis, hiking, biking and fishing.

Rooms were very clean and well situated. There is a fridge in the room but no microwave. Bathroom is clean and plenty of hot water. Complaint is the $12 breakfast consisted of runny eggs, sausage patties that were like the ones from mcdonalds, grits, and a dry biscuit (no gravy) on a buffet style line where they served you. Not many choices for $12. No decaf coffee. No toast, no yogurt or cereal, etc. They seem to still be super afraid of COVID like they didn't get the memo that the pandemic is over. When we checked in they said that due to COVID they wouldnt be cleaning rooms daily unless we called the front desk, so we had to take our own trash out and never got new trash bags, ask for clean towels, and our floor was never vaccuumed on a 4 night stay. The pool was unusable...very dirty and gross, like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. I would have rated this a 5 star if it hadn't been for the lack of service and the pool.

The staff is friendly. Check in was easy. The breakfast crew is very lovely. There's something on the breakfast bar to get you to lunch or beyond. Room was nice. The one complaint I have is that the bathroom light and the fan are connected and that is unnecessarily noisy. There is a beautiful sitting area when you get off the elevator. I was on the 6th floor. Wanted a view of the river, but that didn't happen. Ice machine was out of order. Had a problem using the ATM machine asked the gentleman who was cleaning and he was happy to show me what I was doing wrong! I have no complaints about my stay and for me that means that did a whole bunch of right. Mainly, being nice. Good shuttle service down the hill to the casino. Fast and reliable. I would stay there again.

Great location!

We stayed in the Clark gable room since they had three beds. It was ok, but needed some work.. the house is beautiful, but this room had some problems…No tv channels with news on…we watched old reruns of shark tank. The bathroom windows are almost impossible to open, so no ventilation..twin beds have mattresses than slide off the base…air con not efficient in front bedroom…..in room coffee maker only makes one cup…I think these are simple fixes.. We loved Ruth, our breakfast server.she is a delight! A real GEM! Good breakfast! Location fantastic, but quiet and lovely…outdoor porch only had two chairs, and we were three people, so we couldn’t use it…maybe an outdoor dining set in the garden would have been nice? Front door took three attempts. No room cleaning. We looked at all the rooms which looked more updated than the Clark gable room, so I would recommend those. But a nice stay never the less..

Shabby and grubby

Reviewed By LyndaMB

We were dismayed by our stay here. The room appeared magnificent but paper was peeling from the walls, curtains were dusty, paintwork was peeling (and had been for some time), the garden was overgrown and weedy - apart from the area for weddings - and the balcony outside the room was dirty. It also had only one rocking chair so there went the fantasy of a mint julep together at sunset! The breakfast was weird with one very friendly member of staff and one decidedly snippy. Different items were available on different days and you certainly couldn't change things around (eg bacon for sausage). There was no space in the dining room for us to have dinner so we had a very enjoyable evening in a great place by the river - Magnolia.

Appreciation for fine architecture and people

I gained much appreciation and respect for the owner Ron, his love and commitment to keeping our architectural history not only alive but practically usable is the reason I’ll be back again to see more of this beautiful town and his collection of Bed and Breakfast’s. I can’t wait to come back, he goes to great lengths to make sure his guests have the best experience. His grace in dealing with our large family is refreshing and I hope others take their children to experience this beautiful place and people while learning all they can from our past.
