Beautiful Facade and big hotel.

Reviewed By davechinwan

The hotel was very beautiful from the exterior and had a very nice facade. It was a simple but very elegant European style expansive building with gardens and a nice set of big trees on the backside. The hotel entrance decorations were very elegant, while the Xmas decor inside was just ok. I liked the room, it was a superior room with a contemporary European theme and colors. I was impressed by 2 trash cans one for bottles and cans , other for regular, The bath was more lavish than expected for that room style. The view was mountain. The food at the breakfast was very good, i ate only healthy food but i could see a large selection for anyone who likes buffets. The corona protocols were done well and the staff was nice. I was given check in before the actual time, which was very thoughtful. The park is less than a minute away and the hotel sold many ticket plans. Overall it was a beautiful service hotel with many facilities for families, couples and even businessmen.

Great room amenities and nice view

We were in a group of 8 persons and stayed only for one night in this nice hotel. The onsen was really good and clean, we really enjoyed the hotspring a lot. Guest rooms were recently renovated, everything works really well, most important is clean and tidy in the room. Also, they provide two choices of the breakfast buffet and we try the Western style instead of Japanese style breakfast. There are multiple cuisine for the breakfast buffet and they are delicious as well. Hopefully next time could stay longer time in this lovely hotel.

Clean with all the usual amenities in Japanese hotel rooms. Two nice pillows provided per bed, one soft and one hard. The mattress was a little hard. A separate toiletries bag provided for the child in our group. Very sumptuous breakfast with a wide variety of dishes available to suit everybody. Handily adjacent to Huis ten Bosch so returning in the evening to view the Illuminations was easy. Parking was a distance away but there is a shuttle bus.

Hotel was easy accessible and located close to public transportation, shops and restaurants. We stayed in a deluxe king which was a decent size room for Japanese standards. The bathroom area was conveniently large. Service was fine. Great starting point for exploring the Nagasaki.

Noisy and full of tourists

Reviewed By G_Intl_Travel

Stayed here for 2 nights and there were a few disappointments: 1) Initially we were given the unrenovated room on L12, upon arriving late at around 7pm. We didn’t bother to complain until we finished our dinner and realised that the room given was totally different from what was shown on Agoda. So, we went down to reception to complain and wanted a change. The receptionist initially refused stating no rooms were available. However, we insisted as we were shortchanged, and the current room was not carpeted and bed was old, TV was sideways, and bed was like a converted sofa. Finally he caved in after my wife nearly lost her temper, and said we are Dormy Inn regulars, and even Dormy Kumamoto was much better. 2) We were then given a change of room, also on L12, opposite the initial room. I wonder why they shortchanged us in the first place? This one is at least the same as the picture when we booked. 3) The onsen could be better regulated. There were many un-regulated onsen users who could be mainland tourists with no onsen etiquette. They spray the shower all over and are very messy. I was told on the women’s spa, there were some noisy and even smelly bathers. There was even one incident where a mother brought in her noisy 5yr old son with her into the women’s onsen. Again, what happened to the strict regulations? 4) Lastly, i have a sense that most foreigners are lumped together on L12...instead of sharing with Japanese guests. If not, our floor certainly felt like a Chinese hotel rather than a Japanese one on the nights we were there. This is because during the nights, there was a Chinese family that booked a few rooms on the floor and they were making lots of noises till late. People were running from room to room and shouting along the corridor. The mother was talking at the top of her voice post midnight. Whatever happened to good social manners in Japan? I certainly felt that I was not in Japan during that time. All in all, i will not stay in Dormy Inn Nagasaki again.

AWESOME LOCATION

The rooms were very clean and the hotel was in a perfectly strategic location - right across the street from a tram stop. The staff were very pleasant and allowed us to check in several hours early, which was a nice surprise. The breakfast buffet was unimpressive I felt, but right behind the hotel is an amazing Chinese restaurant (sorry I don't know the name) but be sure to get and get the Char sui-men (ramen with char-sui pork BBQ meat.

It is close to the Chinatown. It also close to the “Dejima “ and port. The receptionist at front desk was very friendly and kind. Since I was traveling with my mother who has bad knee, they gave me some tip to sight seeing the city. The price was very reasonable too. I would stay here again.

Hotel Monterey Nagasaki

Hotel Monterey Nagasaki, located close to the sea, emulates the atmosphere and decor reminiscent of the time when the sea-faring voyagers arrived from Portugal, in an ongoing connection with Nagasaki that dates back to 1543. We promise to deliver a cozy experience where guests can feel part of the story and history of Nagasaki, imagining they are part of a scene from many years ago where the alleyways were illuminated by the rays of the sun and chance encounters with foreign traders were commonplace. The walls are adorned with blue tiles, expertly painted by Portuguese craftsmen, providing a colorful atmosphere.

Winter Vacation at Nagasaki

During our winter vacation at Nagasaki, we stayed at the Hotel Monterey. It was a very pleasant stay. The staff were very helpful like directions to famous sight seeing spot and providing all that we need. The breakfast was very good. Big selection of food and they even serve Nagasaki specialties like the Nagasaki special noodles and castella, The room is spacious and a good nostalgic design. The exterior design of the hotel is also great. Another best thing is that it is walking distance to famous places like the hollander slope, glover garden and very near the tram station. There are lots of shops nearby and convenience stores. I highly recommend to stay at Hotel Monterey Nagasaki specially if you will travel with kids. They will surely enjoy the experience. Plus there was a free smart phone that you can use within your stay. It helped us navigate to our destination.
