Reviewed By 342oscarbSomewhat tired-looking, ground-level building on the edge of Avignon airport, with planes incidentally flying overhead. Hotel offers lunch and dinner but apparently not on Sunday. An equally tired-looking Courtepaille a short walk away is the only other option but a drive to the center of Avignon might be a better idea.

Hotel of 80 rooms, entirely renovated in December 2014. Rooms doubles, twin, triple, like some communicating rooms for family. All equipped with shower, toilet, wash-hand basin, air conditioning, television set flat panel display,TNT and Canal+, wifi free, bathroom linen. Free carpark, under videosurveillance. D& presence; #039; a night watchman certain evenings. Opening 24/24, 7/7 days. Physical reception and limits automatic.

Reviewed By paix76A small hotel (formally Campanile) now under the Kyriad brand. All rooms have been recently decorated in an individual style – we stayed in one with a jungle theme which was spotlessly clean. Very friendly, enthusiastic and helpful reception. Although out-of town with plenty of free parking, it's only a short walk from the tram terminus and buses so really no need for a car, either to reach the hotel or visit Avignon. There is a restaurant on site, but during the time we stayed the menu was limited to a range of pizzas, all the same there is a good choice of alternative eating places close by. We have no hesitation in recommending this place for a stay. One extra which you will discover if you walk to the tram on a Sunday is the wonderful market, with a good range of north African stalls. This stretches the whole length of the road leading to the tram; no secret but probably not in the tourist brochures.

Jean Luc was very helpful with advice and directions etc. Good breakfast with pastries, fruit, cheese and meat, bread and jams and coffee, tea and juice. I would stay again.

Quaint, well-situated 15 minute drive from Avignon
Reviewed By 4KiaraSThis was a nice enough place outside of Avignon. I think they're working on renovating the place because our room smelled of paint. The air conditioning was a great reprieve from the heat wave (over 30 degrees Celsius when we were visiting). Free, on-site, secure parking. My husband bought the breakfast, which I wouldn't recommend - a croissant, small yogurt and bottle of OJ. Just find a bakery in the morning and buy something fresh yourself. We didn't see/hear anyone else during our stay, but they had disinfectant in the lobby and recommended face masks while on the premises. Room was clean enough, bed was comfy. When you just need a clean, safe, cool place to sleep at night - this checks all the boxes.

Ordinary B&B, made worse with a bad attitude
Reviewed By Tarun71We stayed 3 nights at the Bastide Valentine and I must say that it was one of our poor travel experiences. The B&B is a small, pretty cottage with an average room & decent bathroom. The location is not good and doesn't work without a car. The overall experience is very, very ordinary. Starting with the breakfast - low cost supermarket yogurt with marmalade, juice, butter, bread, coffee/tea and ONE peach/apricot per person (talk about rationing!). No ham, eggs or cheese. To top that, the attitude of the owner left much to be desired. When we asked for an iron to press our clothes, we were told that it was 'too big' to carry. When we said we'd do it ourselves wherever it was located, which she said was not possible (?) and offered to press the article of clothing. The next day, when we made the same request, she made a big fuss about it and said that it wasn't possible to do that everyday! It was awfully humiliating. She could have just told us one the first day to buy our own iron! Extremely rude. Lastly, she made a restaurant recommendation which we went hunting for & it turned out to be a hole-in-the-wall dive! Thankfully, we didn't eat there! This was one B&B that we were happy to leave!

Faded elegance
Reviewed By Mike RLet me first say the restaurant is excellent with an excellent and creative chef. Dinner was a pleasure! What lets Les Frenes down is the faded elegance. We had suite in the garden which had a comfortable seating area, king bed and large bathroom. However it was the details which let the room down; one of the bedside table lamps did not work, the hot tap on one of the 'his and hers' basins in the bathroom did not work and the 'whole body' shower was difficult to adjust to simple rain shower, resulting in a very wet floor! Given that Les Frenes has a fairly expensive room rate make sure everything works correctly. Also, if you are staying in the garden, a torch would be useful as the path is very uneven and has been broken by tree roots in places.
