newly refurbished room ... some good points, some flaws

Reviewed By Yves R

I was lodged in a recently refurbished room. Very nice, excellent bed, with 2 power outlets at each side, so there's plenty to charge laptop, cellphone, tablet, and other stuff you may have. Bathroom has one major flaw: not enough light is provided by the strips incorporated in the design mirror. Also (but not only in this hotel) poor water flow out of the shower. If you have long, thick hair, you'll spend a lot of time rinsing it after washing. Efforts have been done to provide a better choice for dinner.

Disappointing visit

Reviewed By davjan2015

Started badly before we arrived. Normally before visiting French towns we ask the hotel in advance to reserve a table for dinner at a local restaurant. WE did this with Hotel St Roch and for the first time in 25 yrs touring France we received a response of - sorry it is not our normal practice. When we arrived the area to unload a car was very restricted and difficult and then one still neede a lift to reception. Parking was down the bottom of a steep hill. ON arriving was told their computers were not working and although the hotel was far from busy were directed to the far end of long corridor as without a computer they could not check what other rooms were available. By the way the restaurant was unavailable for dinner. Good views from hotel high on hill if it was not surrounded by trees but the makes walking to or more important from the town laborious. We decided to cancel our 2nd night and only stay one.

Great location

Reviewed By Mallardavenue

This hotel is minutes from the small beach and within walking distance to the centre of Martigues. The hotel is clean and our room situated on the front was clean and spacious. As some other reviews have said the room has a bath/shower in the bedroom so you need to be careful when showering as there is no shower curtain! There is an enclosed toilet in the room. It is a two star and I agree. It’s basic, clean but great location. We stayed here to be central to Marseille and Montpellier as we travelled. The bus service is great and the station is a few minutes walk from the hotel. We got the 34 into Marseille. We were here on Independence Day and World Cup so rather eventful! Would recommend for a 1/2 night stay

Of course, don't leave Marseille without having tasted a bouillabaisse in the old port.

Restaurant and location is great, rooms are a bit aged

Basic hotel for one night

Reviewed By Octavio N

This hotel is located in an industrial area, during business hours you can find convenience stores or small places to have lunch, but after office hours the area has not much to offer. The room is small, but considerable small, I did struggle to manage my suitcase. The room has a small desk, is enough for a laptop, but the chair of the desktop will end next to your bed. If you are unlucky and you get a room on the west side during the summer time you will get a really warm room on the afternoon, and maybe it was just me, but the air conditioning was fixed and eventually will cool down the room, but it will take more than an hour. The restaurant is small and basic as well, I only use it during the breakfast time. By the way the breakfast is basic as well. Again, if you are unlucky you can find a broken coffee machine. The fare includes internet, from time to time you can stream and do video calls, but do not expect to perform that way on daily basis. There is a swimming pool, which I didn’t use. It looked small, but clean. There is a parking lot in the hotel, there is no extra charge for using it. If you are staying in the area for more than 3 nights I would recommend to look a little bit more.

Nice location, good price/quality rate!

Reviewed By Radu D

Went there with my family (wife & daughter) and took 2 rooms. It was during the warm season and we planned to spin around Martigues and visit Arles, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, etc. We made and excellent choice: the hotel is near-by the highway so we easily could direct towards everyone of our daily destinations. It is also close enough to the centre-ville of Martigues, with lots of nice bistros and touristic places: old churches, old houses, a laguna with nice sports and also the popular bistro named La Sardinade, where locals gather together every evening to listen traditional French chansonnettes, eat fish and drink wine. The hotel was nice and cosy, with free parking inside the closed hotel area, good wi-fi, comfortable (even if the rooms were not very large, but the space was very well distributed), nice and helpful personnel. We had a small problem with the car, they helped us in no time to get to the nearest garage and solve it. Very kind!

Great camp with a lot of history

The location was close to the sea. It was very handy as we could easily go back to our camp. There is a very friendly and nice atmosphere in the camp. The neighbors helped us to buy food and equip us with furniture we didn't have. The water supply in each site was very helpful as we didn't need to go far for it.The toilets and showers were cleaned regularly. The campsite has an old history. We met a person who's grandfather and father spent their childhood in this camp. The internet costs money. The administration of Pascalounet never stated that the internet wasn't free.

I was passing through Martigues in a road trip with my dad and wanted somewhere to stay to get some sleep. The walls are paper thin, so if your neighbour is noisy in the slightest don’t expect much sleep. The room was tiny and certainly could have been cleaner. There was one PowerPoint in the whole room to charge electronics. The aircon hardly worked. It is not a convenient hotel for anything other than price. It’s a 30 minute walk to town for restaurants etc. I’d advise staying elsewhere.
