Reviewed By Marianne862Great location, very peaceful, lovely walks in the forest to the beaches. Hotel Spa was excellent. The restaurant menu was limited, but good value. However, there is a wide choice of restaurants along the beach, where you can watch the sunsets. Perfect location if you are a golfer.

BEST WESTERN The Hotel du Golf really is the perfect base for a holiday: under an hour from Bordeaux, 40 minutes from the Chateaux of the Medoc and the Bassin d'Arcachon, just 3 km from the Atlantic ocean, and set in 200 acres of natural parkland and plenty of pure, fresh air - it really does have everything to guarantee a relaxing, revitalising holiday.

Reviewed By E6153KEpeterWe booked two nights stay arriving on a Sunday based on the restaurant being open on Sundays. On arrival we were told it was closed. Opposite reception a poster advertised open Sundays. The next night it was also closed. We weren't advised in advance of arrival, nor were we told about the closure for the next night, even though this was apparently for a pre-booked group. There are no other nearby restaurants, and the only offer was a precooked dish of pasta from the microwave at 7 euros.

Good location - really awful hotel
Reviewed By Steve_G101_101If you arrive through the restaurant the initial impression is good. This impression crashes through the floor when you go behind the scenes and up to the room. The access to the hotel itself is via a space behind the kitchens which is also used for the bins. (There is an alternative via a spiral staircase - perhaps the 'least worst' option). There was a climb to the third floor and then we entered the room. The view over the beach was magnificent. The decor was really tired and the flooring had huge gaps between the planks! Lacanau is going to be a Olympic town in 2024 so I hope this building is knocked-down and rebuilt before then!

Reviewed By Yolanda MEn panne de voiture et en route pour Nice, nous avons fait une halte tardive à Lacanau Océan et cherché un hébergement. Colette nous a gentiment accueillis avec son chien Popeye. Tout était ok et nous avons bien dormis, avec un petit déjeuner adorable qui nous attendait discrètement. Merci Colette, nous reviendrons.

Was this the worst place I have stayed in? Well it is in the worst three.
Reviewed By iangthomas25Arrived at 2pm to see if we had right place and if we had a fridge. We wanted to get some supermarket food. A cleaner showed us a communal fridge and said room would not be available until later, which we knew before we arrived. 1st impression was several overflowing wheely refuse bins & unsightly bottle dump. We came back hours later, having booked 2 nights. There was no welcome or guidelines, just the cleaner pointing to an open room. We put our shopping in fridge, via a disgusting kitchen. A large pan of plums (cut in half) were attracting flies as was a bin only 30cm away, and again overflowing & open to the air. (plums still there following day). The kitchen was so bad that we agreed eating breakfast here (already paid for) was a step too far. Our room was difficult to access with cases as doors fouled against the tile floor. I asked about internet and was told about how to log on. 3 devices failed to find their so called host. Other points Toilet seat not secured. Toilet door jams Poor toilet privacy Dangerous wiring for TV Loose skirting board Faulty light - bulb missing No TV instructions could not get it to work Discarded bed outside our room. Photos on booking.com are totally different from reality. My belief is this is very misleading. We decided to leave a highly depressing room to explore locally. We got back around 9pm, unable to access our items from the fridge as it was locked up. We had to phone them to access fridge.

Reviewed By Buzz1976First week near Atlantic, very nice place We were lucky with two large rooms which was really good with two chidren (2 and 5 years old) Lot of different activities are possible city center only 15 min away by walk sea just on the other side of the sand dune Activities for children excellent. Very good : Possibility to hire a bike every morning directly in the village ! Negative point : food. Diversity missing in first plates and desserts. Cheese or Yogourts only available at lunch or dinner.

The Villa Zenith Hostel has 3 types of accomodation : - The SURF HOUSE : is a collective accommodation with dorms and common bathrooms, it includes a common kitchen, patio, tv room and chilling areas. - The Villa Zenit Hostel - La MAISON : is a guesthouse with private rooms and bathrooms. Shared common spaces (kitchen, living room, patio, BBQ) - The Villa Zenith Hostel - L'ANNEXE : is an apartment with air conditionnated with private rooms and bathrooms and shared common spaces (kitchen, living room and the garden of the Surf House with BBQ) The Villa is an incomparable setting on the Lacanau-Ocean Beach coastline and has been sought out by people looking for the perfect surfing and bodyboarding getaway. The Villa is a charming stone house from the beginning of the century located in the middle of the station in a quiet district at 200m from the beach. There is every part GOOD VIBES ! ;)

Reviewed By Tessa BIt was a nice and bright room in a beautiful home, everything was well organized and beach, restaurants, cafe's anything at walking distance. Would definitly recommend and book again if in the neighbourhood!

The Cheeky Family is an Hostel, a surf school and a Surfcamp for those who want to take both! We are in 3min walk to the beach and 5min walk to the center for the shopping and for the bar :) It's a unique place in Lacanau-Beach where you will felt like in your house :) There is an outside garden with some eco table where you can take your breakfast in the sunshine, or play some ping-pong!! You have also a BIG chill ROOM where you can read some books or play some cards game or drink a beer in the same time you're playing baby-foot !!

Even the welcoming was unfriendly, if you don’t say hello nothing would come! I don’t know if the girl don’t like english speakers?! But it seems that she don’t like the work there! The kitchen was always so dirty! No one cleans everything, it was very discusting! And until midnight is music on and at 8:30am is the music on again. Ok it’s a Hostel, but you even can’t say anything to anyone, otherwise you will get a very cheeky answer! So it has a real name! Cheeky! Good luck if you will stay there!

Ant infested, not very clean, stressful holiday.
Reviewed By TWSWTWSWVilla 36 had ants everywhere, up the walls, all over the floors, beds etc. Had to buy 4 cans of spray and spray inside and out everyday and hoover everyday to keep them away. Cobwebs everywhere. Villa was meant to be clean, some bits were but not very well. Had black feet immediately from the floors. So had to clean the villa on the first day. They are aware they have an ant problem and they will just tell you its to be expected because its in a wooded area. Rubbish, we use to live in Florida, ants, cockroaches and had to have the house professional sprayed in & out every week which keeps them under control. So no excuses. They should have a warning on their website stating that they have an issue. Swimming pool was full of dead ants also. Nice area but poorly maintained villas. Wifi works fine if they give you the correct log in and password.
