Attractive Rainforest Setting.

Lovely rainforest surrounds with creek and variety of wild life. Quaint room spacious and well appointed. Breakfast items in fridge. Home provided eggs and pizzas ( one included free ) Host friendly and provided plenty of information regarding our stay. No TV but WiFi very good and fast, to our surprise. As evenings dark, if need to access TV on own device, was not a problem. Large bed, comfortable, but quite high from the ground. No real trouble for us, but could be more difficult for those with mobility problems. Lighting was bright in some areas of the room, but dimmer in other parts. No light behind main door, which as steps down caused a touch of careful walking in the dark to reach main light in centre of room. Off the main road for 6 kms with the last two unsealed, but not too rough - but will get car dirty ! Overall, enjoyed our stay.

A home in the jungle.

We have just spent 3 nights at Kuranda Ngorngoro Lodge and I don't think there are enough superlatives to describe how much we enjoyed our stay there. Kuranda Ngorongoro Lodge is not just accommodation - it is a entire experience. It's an awesome 'home in the jungle' where you will wake to the sound of birds and go to sleep to the sounds of the bush. The Lodge is spacious and fabulous - decked out like an African Safari Lodge. It has everything you need and when I got into bed the first night it was so comfortable I felt as though I was getting into my own bed. There is air con if you like it but we preferred the security-screened open doors and windows with fans. It is also exceptional value. Their rate is the same as what we paid for an ordinary motel room a few days later, but at Kuranda Ngorongoro we had an entire 2-bedroom lodge, with a beautiful deck, and a very generous bathroom - with a bath! Hosts and owners, Patrick and Sue, obviously love sharing their world and lives with their guests and are incredibly generous with their time. We were taken out in the 'jungle jeep' to part of the national park to see some amazing fig trees and where we did 3 creek crossings, at no extra charge. If you are looking for a stay that will take you away from the ordinary, and with hosts who can't do enough to ensure your day is extra special, then Kuranda Ngorongoro Lodge is the place to go. We can't speak highly enough of every aspect of our stay there.

Arrived here with a written confirmation of our booking for the correct date. pregnant woman had no record of our booking even though it was her name on the confirmation! She could move some woman, a family member, out of the room and it would be ready in 2 hours. Judging by the general air of decay we declined her offer and had to wind our way back down the road to a trusted and reliable hotel in Cairns. You’d think in these difficult times business owners would make an extra effort to welcome guests but not this place!

What a gem of place and such a fabulous, relaxing overnight stay. Nancy made us feel so welcome and put us instantly at ease as this was our first B & B experience. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, very roomy but very cosy with dual doors to separate the bedroom from the living/lounge area. The grounds at Ron Day Voo are lush, green and welcoming with quiet areas to sit and watch the wallabies and enjoy a wine at sundown. Didn't have a chance to have a dip in the pool or a hit on the tennis court nor sit around the big fire circle but we'll certainly be back to try them in future. Breakfast was a wonderful fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, toast, croissants and scrambled eggs - delish! Must also mention the complimentary chocolates and nibbles provided. So impressed were we that we immediately booked a follow-up stay with a friend. Thanks Nancy. See you again soon.

We didn't make it further than out the front of the tavern tonight. We like this pub, have no other complaints, but they need to stick by what they advertise. We confirmed with them by phone that dinner orders were to be in by 7.30. Then the group of us drove out to the pub for dinner despite it being a miserable rainy night. We were around the corner from them at 28 past 7 ("current Brisbane time"), and rang them. I was told "too late to order - it's 7.31". It wasn't. Check your time and clocks guys!! It does matter. Get it right! We took off, tried another local restaurant and a takeaway, but because of the trip that we took to the Tavern in good faith, it was too late for the other food outlets. Thanks guys, it's bad business when you stuff up a local group's night out.

Retreat in the rainforest

I only stayed one evening unfortunately, but was made to feel very welcome on arrival in the secluded and peaceful space created in the rainforest. The raw vegan meal was delicious and with a great discussion with other guests made for a lovely evening. Yoga, massage , tarot and other experiences are available. Awakening in this peaceful space is wonderful with various rainforest animals and birds walking around the lovely gardens.
