Reviewed By jn897212We had a great stay at Amigo. Our bus dropped us at 2 am in Kalaw, unexpectedly two hours before we were supposed to arrive. We woke the poor staff up who were very accommodating, managing to get our party of five into a beautiful room with very comfortable beds. In the morning there was coffee and breakfast. Thank you Amigo Hotel!

Reviewed By ccurtiss95One of the better hotels I’ve stayed in MM for the price. Big spacious rooms and bathroom. Water jug and hair dryer provided in the room. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Good location as well, close to main road and only a few streets over was the trekking info street (we went with Yola Trekking - fantastic choice!).

Reviewed By Trip95563Kalaw is the most favorite town of my life as it has full of my childhood memories. Royal Kalaw Hills Resort gives one of best memories too. The resort provides best hospitality with standard of cleanliness and friendliness from staffs. I would say that the quality of food is the best in town with talented local chefs. During my stay, I noticed that one of staffs name called “Zin Mar Oo” , who is local and taking care of all the hotel guests and visitors with her sweet smile which makes us happiness of the day. This is a very beautiful place to visit with family and friends to get away from city life.

Reviewed By fjp4564The Accommodation in this Hotel is rather poor by modern standards, badly needs some essential maintenance and modernisation. Not worth the prices charged. Very poor design and lay out of rooms. Bathrooms very poor. No heating provided in the rooms inspite of the very cold temperatures during the winter months

Thitaw Lay House is bordering a protected forest and a monastery, 15’ walking from city. 3 rooms with quality mattress, attached bathroom, hot shower, garden terrace. Breakfast room, wood stove, open kitchen (fridge, microwave, free drinking water and hot water 24/24). Breakfast buffet with all homemade sourdough bread, banana bread, jams, pancakes, yoghurt, fried rice, etc. Free Wifi 24/24.

It is simply the best, if you like nature, privacy, quietness and authenticity. Their rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast is a real treat and discovery on its own, garden is so peaceful and relaxing. As they present themselves, it is a guest house with heart, unique, the kind of places we like to present in our travels.

Experience the old-world charm of Kalaw Heritage Hotel, a landmark hotel at the former hill station Kalaw, built during the British era in 1903 hence the second oldest hotel in Myanmar after the glorious “The Strand Hotel Yangon” built in 1901. Kalaw is situated 70 km west of Taunggyi; the capital of Shan state and about 50 km from Pindaya caves. Kalaw sits high on the western edge of the Shan Plateau and was a popular hill station in the British times. It is still a peaceful and quiet place with an atmosphere remnants of colonial era, located in 1320 m above sea level with a pleasantly cool weather and is a good place for hiking through pines and bamboo groves and beautiful mountains scenery.

Reviewed By Sigrid-MarianellaEnjoyed staying at Kalaw Heritage Hotel. Beds are very comfy and rooms are spacious. I enjoyed sitting outside reading or inside the bar area. We found the old newspapers from Singapore quite entertaining. They have a good drink selection, both non-alcoholic as well as cocktails. If you play tennis there is also a tennis court on the grounds. Will stay here again when I go to Kalaw next. Payment by visa card was possible.

Reviewed By drnlnIt is one of the quiet and peaceful place in kalaw. Mostly, they don’t use plastic things . Breakfast is pretty good. You can get fresh shan traditional food as breakfast. You can walk to Kalaw Clock Tower . Price is fair. It is also good for solo, families, couples and friends.

Reviewed By allentheinThey got the best breakfast out there. The earlier u can wake up, the better it is! Rooms were quiet and a great place to take some rest. The toiletries there are cute! Plus, the thoughtfulness of them providing the umbrellas in the rooms during the rainy season was very appreciated.
