Hometown Hospitality 10/10

Recently stayed at the River Belle for my Birthday and I was absolutely blown away. The wine and charcuterie happy hour southed my soul after a lovely nap in the carney Palm suite. The River belle is a 10-15 minute to the best shops and dinning. Had the best birthday breakfast with Mia Bangs- (make sure you treat her your Mellon and grapes) and Mitsy! Wish our stay could’ve lasted longer but very grateful for the hospitality. 10/10!

Very convenient for tiring the wineries

Reviewed By BronteBucket

Smart new- hike hotel in the edge of Healdsburg close to many vineyards and with a comfortable minibus to run you into town or out into the wineries. The rooms had kitchenettes and the beds were comfy. We met a robot at the lifts delivering drinks to a room which was a little surreal! The rooms are centred around a swimming pool area. We commented that we would be happy to stay there again if we came back to this neck of the woods.

Disappointing

Reviewed By Lightning21

We had a king bed room with a balcony. Although the balcony was a nice touch, it overlooked the road adjacent to the hotel. The room had several issues, first the wall control for the heater was not working properly and would not turn off and continued to blast throughout the night. There were odd shutters separating the bathroom from the bedroom, somewhat diminishing privacy in the bathroom. The bathroom was very dark. Although the bathroom had a large tub, the shower stall was very small. The refrigerator was ridiculously small. There was no microwave. No breakfast was included. The plugs on the night stand lights were unusable. The outlet was located too low at the bottom of the lamp base, so that nothing could plug in since there was not enough clearance between the bottom of the outlet and the top of the table. The hotel staff appears to be a bit indifferent to certain details. For instance there was less that 1/2 roll of toilet paper in the room when we arrived and the Kleenex box was nearly empty. The garbage can liners were stretched tight across the top of the cans so that initially nothing can be tossed in them. The clock was not set to the correct time. The TV controller did not work well, likely needing batteries. If you request a late checkout in the morning (12 instead of 11), you need to have your key changed to get back into your room in the last hour. It did have good internet speed with 76.6 Mbps download, 14.5 Mbps upload, and 9 ms latency.

Lush 100% Egyptian Cotton linens and robes have such come-hither appeal they could keep you in bed all day. All rooms have built in desks with ergonomic chairs and extra storage, plus seating areas both outside and in. The understated aesthetic is carried through to the bathrooms with simple lines, Heath ceramic tile and signature bath products crafted from natural ingredients. Feeling parched? Fabulous (but pricey)

Reviewed By JimRiesterer

Absolutely loved this boutique luxury hotel. We’ve made many trips to the area over the years and stayed in several spots nearby-some even more pricey than this hotel’s $500+ nightly rate but our two nights over memorial day weekend were perfect I liked our king room with large spacious bath (although oddly only one tiny sink and no counter space), hardwood floors and clever furnishings. The bed and pillows were nice and bathroom amenities great. A bunch of snacks and water come free as does valet parking and lite continental breakfast in the lobby. There’s a small but beautiful pool out back with lounge chairs and your choice of sun or shade. The location just a block off the square made it easy to leave the car parked and walk to dinner, shopping or wine tastings. The young staff was eager to help and quite friendly. Highly recommended

Not up to the price

Reviewed By Kathy B

I wish I could give more stars but since our room was over $650 a night we expected more. First the great, perfect location, comfortable bed, clean and friendly. But the misses began to add up. Our room had 2 queens with only one standard pillow on each bed. We called down and extra pillow were promptly delivered. But next I turned down the sheet on my bed and the top sheet was filthy. It obviously had not been changed. We called down and the bed was changed promptly with apologies. These are not crisp sheets. We had noticed a free standing little device prompted against the open window. that we thought was an air filter. We closed our window due to noise at night and it became apparent that the regular air conditioning was having trouble. We called down in the middle of the night because it was so hot and they explained that the whole hotel was going to have the air conditioner replaced and that they were having trouble with it. It would have been nice to betold about this when we checked in. I would have kept the curtains and windows closed during the day. Side note, it would be nice to have a charging station on the desk instead of having to search under the beds etc to find outlets for our devices. I think the biggest disappointment at this French store hotel was the continental breakfast. There is no way the sad little offering can be called continental. Healdsburg is full of bakeries so of course in our French style hotel we expected more than a hard little roll some yoghurt and a tiny bowl of granola. It you want coffee, tea, juice or anything else you have to pay more!there are only 16 rooms in the hotel so I was surprised that more effort wasn’t made. It isn’t a bad hotel by any means but for $1400 for a 2 night stay in Healdsburg we expected more.

AMAZING HOTEL AND STAFF!

Reviewed By JJZWZJMD

We stayed here two nights for my birthday and had the best time! What a beautiful property with such a kind and friendly staff! We were greeted upon arrival by Ray at the valet, who immediately grabbed our luggage and offered us water (which was exactly what we needed since it was 95F outside). He took our bags and drove us in a golf cart to our lovely room. I love meeting people like him who are so easy to talk to, making you feel like he is your friend and not an employee at the hotel. We stayed in a lovely studio suite, which was so spacious and immaculate. The patio with the fire pit was awesome. We enjoyed some in room dining (charcuterie and cheese board) out there our first night and it was amazing looking up at the stars. The outside shower is incredible! You don't think you need to shower outside, until you have showered outside, then you never want to shower inside ever again! Such a great touch! We had a delicious lunch by the pool. Ginny, our server was super sweet and attentive! Being of Greek descent, I was very impressed by their pool menu. All of the items have Greek influence which nowadays is really rare to come across an intricate menu like that, which I definitely appreciate. I honestly wish I lived closer so that I could come back and try everything on the menu. For my birthday dinner, we ate at Hazel Hill. Amazing food and such a great experience! I am pretty sure I have never been so full in my life. The food and presentation were perfect. Again, I am sad that I don't live closer so I can come back to try everything on the menu. Jason, our server was outstanding! There are two types of servers: the one where they only bring food to your table, and the second, like Jason, where they create a whole dining experience. He was so friendly and kind, knowledgeable about the dishes, and answered all of my curious questions about the resort and Northern California. Again, another employee who made you feel like he is your friend! The food was amazing but his service really took it to a whole other level! Lastly upon checkout, we were greeted by the Resort Manager Sarah and the General Manager Allen. How special are we?! They were so kind and personable and made us feel as if we were family, staying at their home. Thank you Montage Healdsburg. I can't wait to return to try everything on all of your restaurant menus, take a shower outside, and to be welcomed by my new friends at the hotel!

Calderwood Inn

Known on the California and Sonoma County Landmarks Registry as the John Miller House, this historic Queen Anne Victorian was built in 1902. Miller was a prominent fruit grower, packer and dehydrator in the early 1900s. He was also one of the first to make a commercial business of marketing dehydrated fruit. Among Miller's claims to fame is that he was the first provider to the U.S. Military of dehydrated foods. Known as K-rations during WW I and MREs today, Miller was cited by the military for "feeding the troops during WW I". (1) Miller and his wife were, like many prominent citizens of the community, anxious to furnish their home lavishly. The home is reputed to be the first in Healdsburg with two bathrooms, with indoor plumbing upstairs and downstairs. The noted horticulturist, Luther Burbank, was a good friend and assisted in the design and development of the original landscape at the front of the home, some of which remains today. The large cedar, cypress, and redwood heritage trees were planted by Burbank over 100 years ago. The lush grounds have been accented with rose bushes and numerous flowering shrubs. The same archaeological report from Sonoma State University indicates that some of the first plantings of some of Burbank's new species were planted on the Miller property. Sadly, the location and botanical name of the plants were never recorded. It is unknown if they remain on the property today. The home remained in the Miller family until the late 1930s and was a private residence until the early 1980s when it became a Bed and Breakfast. The inn has undergone extensive restoration over the years. Beautiful hand-silk screened period wall and ceiling papers accent the spacious common areas and some guest rooms. The papers are produced by Bradbury & Bradbury of Benicia, CA and are based on designs of William Morris, a prominent textile designer of the mid- to late 1800s.The formal, yet welcoming rooms include a spacious parlor with fireplace-the perfect place to enjoy the morning paper or a board game on a quiet afternoon. The spacious dining room that seats up to 14 showcases original wainscoting and built-in china cabinet and bench. The large antique table is where guests dine on Calderwood's signature gourmet breakfasts. The covered front porch with its antique wicker furniture and lacquered floor beckons you to enjoy the lush grounds, review the activities of your day or curl up with a good book. The porch is often used by local wineries who frequently co-host our complimentary evening wine hour. All nine guest rooms have private baths. Each room is decorated differently to incorporate an extensive collection of beautiful, yet comfortable period
