Feedback regarding my stay - Grand Mercure The Hills Lodge

Reviewed By 616reubenf

I am a very regular patron at The Hills Lodge for many years now. In fact, I stay there so frequent, you could say it’s my second home. I live in Port Macquarie however I have a well established business in Sydney with a office located at Bella Vista. I travel down to Sydney at least every second week and in some cases every week. Being such a regular traveller to Sydney it is very important for me to stay somewhere I feel comfortable, looked after and at home. I want to express that the staff at The Hills lodge have made me feel all these things and more as they are always very friendly accommodating and helpful. There is one staff member however I feel stands above the rest, and is one of the main reasons I continue to return and stay at The Hills lodge. That person is the Facilities Manager Chris Davis. I have stayed in basically every luxury hotel in Sydney and I cannot say I have experienced the same level of service that I get from Chris. Chris has always made it his goal to ensure, I as the customer is completely satisfied with such attention to detail. Chris has made it is job to know exactly what I need to make me feel at home for example which room types I like or what type of pillows I like. Chris knows I like the fan in my room, he knows I like bottled water in my room for when I go to the gym. All this is prepared in my room before I arrive without me even asking. I have always felt well looked after and accommodated which gives me such relief when I stay. These little things and attention to detail make my constant travelling away from home much more pleasurable and the reason I continue to stay at The Hills Lodge.

Good stay but….

Great stay but the airport transfer was terrible… book an Uber and forgo Wilson’s airport transfer. Otherwise the hotel was exactly what we expected. Comfortable, affordable, friendly and location is fantastic! The individual on the phone (Wilson’s airport transfer) that is used by Travel-Lodge was extremely rude and wouldn’t give us the time of day resulting in a 45min wait in the cold. Can’t speak badly of the accomodation but in the interest of future business please start your own airport shuttle service!

Great stay

Reviewed By j0shfawcett

Great stay, staff were super friendly and helped me with all my needs. Great location near the train station/office. Will definitely stay there again! The only issues I had was the internet connection wasn't that fast/great, and I could hear the neighbouring room as it had a connecting door, but otherwise it was a great hotel to stay at. Very nice cafe next door too!

Funky hotel with fabulous view of the airport

Reviewed By Furterbrown

Lovely funky hotel, nice and close to the airport. We trained to Mascot and walked to the hotel. Just over a km and easy enough dragging our bags (on wheels). Reception is on the top floor with amazing views of the airport. Cafe and a few meal options on the top floor. Great to sit and watch the planes arrive and land. Walked to Mascot another km the other way with cafes, takeaway etc. Shuttle easy and only took around 15mins with 2 stops at Domestic before International. Room was nice, big bed and new bathroom. Huge TV! Would happily stay again. Only negative, the terrible music in the foyer (while waiting for the shuttle). There is a 30 second riff that is constantly on repeat.

Airport Connection

Check in was ok, location is perfect for an early international flight, 5 min walk to airport check in, rooms are a bit run down, mine was very dusty, and cold, could not adjust the temperature in the room. Tried to have a meal at the Restaurant, but basically only a few staff running a packed place, I m guessing they will put staff shortages down too Covid19, but when your hotel is almost every night, better attention to getting more staff is essential, I ended up in the Terminal and had McDonald's for dinner. The staff that were on , were nice and friendly and helpful, when they had time. I m a long term Rydges member, and sadly I will not stay at this member hotel again

A jewel of a hotel

Reviewed By Mary R

A jewel of a hotel. The 2 guys on reception were welcoming and efficient. The room was comfortable, and the balcony, although not big enough to actually go out onto, provided a great airy feel to the room. We were also lucky to be visited by a number of Rainbow lorikeets and a sulphur crested cockatoo there. The washing machine and drying rack were welcome after 3 days of hiking along the Bondi to Manly trail and washing by hand. Well located in the centre of Cremorne Village with a diversity of eating places nearby – and we would strongly recommend Radio Cairo. Would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic stay!!

Reviewed By kmclea160261

Entering the foyer I was greeted by the most welcoming staff after a long trip. The location was beautiful and so central. Room was larger than expected and my only criticism would be the tiny size of the bathroom which didn’t help having the folding bathroom door that took up the already tiny space. I am a small person so can’t imagine how an average or larger person would be able to fit.
