Rude manager

Reviewed By jleaharris

The room was clean, the staff was nice, but the entire hotel smelled so bad it was giving me a headache. We stayed the first night, and was out of the room all day. We felt for sure it would dissipate, but it didn't. We decided to leave. I asked for a discount or refund for the night and they had to call the manager. He was immediately rude and antagonistic, saying I was lying to leave early. If he had been courteous and just said it was too late in the day, I'd have accepted that, and let it go, but to be treated that way by someone that supposed to be in hospitality and customer service was unacceptable.

What was once great is now not!

I absolutely loved this hotel the past times I have stayed! I didn’t hesitate to book it last minute due to the storm coming into key west and needing to change our travel plans. Once we arrived it didn’t take long to realize a once clean and nice hotel is becoming one that no one is maintaining period! Our room had a black tarry substance on the bathroom floor and on the desk. It didn’t look clean. Scuffs on the furniture and walls. A brown substance on a chair that looked like stool. The hallways were filthy. Trash on the carpets. The outside pool grounds are not being maintained at all. Trash still sitting around the next day. It’s sad. This place was an amazing hotel in the past! I will not stay here again and I’ve stayed 5 times in the past. It’s so sad when people stop caring for an investment! And my King Room cost $589 a night!!! Consider looking elsewhere before staying! The hot tub also was out and a gentleman working there while outside standing smoking talking us said the pump hadn’t arrived yet. By looking at other reviews it was also out in April. Just disappointing!

We arrived at dark on Good Friday, 2022. I love Marriott and we were told by the Destin, FL Marriot, that this place was on the beach. We usually do not pay this much for a hotel as we only use it for sleeping but we figured, beach, convenience it would be worth it and it was. First thing let me give Kudos to the Desk Clerk, Carlos, for being so helpful and nice to us two worn out seniors. The room was clean and in good repair. The breakfast buffet was as good as any. Pool was nice, parking was good. The only thing I can even comment about is in our opinion, when spending $200 a night for a room, that advertises beach frontal access, the facility should provide some Beach chairs and umbrellas for their guest. Instead, they leave that convenience to a local rental company they have contracted with. We do not consider $50.00/11 hours (day), for two beat up loungers and an umbrella to be a good purchase, even if you can charge it to the room. So, I would tell anyone staying here to bring your own. At those prices you can go buy them and they will be yours as long as they last. Overall, if given the choice we will be back, with our own beach furniture.

Stay away

Reviewed By texaswayno

This is probably the worst run hotel I have ever stayed in. As my Mother always said, “A fish Rots from the head”. The Manager Steve is either way over his head or he is completely incompetent. I understand that the hotel is old and in desperate need of significant capital, but just because it is old and tired doesn’t mean it should be dirty. It also doesn’t excuse the complete lack of basic hospitality/service training. The amount of dirt and grime everywhere around this property is inexcusable. My experience began, when I arrived and realized I had inadvertently booked my arrival for the wrong day. while relieved they were able to accommodate me, I now wish they had turned me away and I had gone and stayed elsewhere. We had 3 rooms, we paid over $400/night and 2 of the rooms were there for 4 nights and the third room was for 3 nights. Upon check-in they inform me that due to “Covid”, there would be no housekeeping service. As a Marriott Ambassador, I called the Ambassador Team and they called the hotel on my behalf. I was assured that Steve the Manager was going to take care of the service breakdowns and not only would our room be serviced, but we would receive the breakfast coupons we were supposed to receive as I had booked a rate that included breakfast for 2 each day. So, when we returned to the hotel that evening I was shocked to find that our room had not only, not been serviced, they didn’t even leave us any fresh towels. There was; however, a printed card in the room welcoming me as an elite guest and a bottle of wine. There was also a note that said to look in the refrigerator, where I found a cup of fruit and yogurt (clearly right off of the breakfast bar) Unfortunately, there were no glasses for the wine and there was not a fork, knife or spoon for the fruit or yogurt. The next day, I called the desk before leaving and asked that they at least leave us fresh towels and extra coffee. We came back that evening to find the room had been serviced and they even left us extra coffee, but not a single cup to drink it from. The 2 rooms that were there for 4 nights, never once received any service. We never once receive a breakfast voucher as promised. We had to request them every day. They also argued that breakfast was only for one person, never mind that I had booked a room/rate that included breakfast for 2 each day. I realize we arrived a day early, and yes this hotel is very old and need of serious capital, but as I previously stated, there is no excuse for the rooms and property to be filthy dirty. As a former hotel CEO, I truly understand how devastating Covid has been on the industry and how difficult the labor situation currently is, but properties should no longer be allowed to charge Pre-Covid pricing and not offer service by blaming it on Covid. This is a management failure, not Covid! Someone is asleep at the wheel at the Four Points in Fort Walton Beach. Respectfully submitted, Wayne

Apparently as far as prices and occupancy goes, this hotel is booming and high rates and full of tourist. But when it comes to breakfast and housekeeping, it is still in covid era. No bagels or cream cheese as they are in shortage. Even though I could find them at all nearby grocery stores. I guess Hampton Inn follows BYOB. Bring your own bagels. House keeping only Mondays, Wednesday and Saturday even though rooms are rented out at anywhere from $250-500 a night. It appears focus is to collect all cash but not provide good experience by saving on housekeeping payroll costs. I suggest they should rebrand it as some 1 star motel.
