Reviewed By gpP5057KFFront desk staff at Hotel La Malvasía were very helpful, arranging for airport transfers (with a local driver who was punctual and shared with us his passion for the Almonte region) and rescuing my forgotten belongings. The hotel restaurant, "La Boca", serves a delicious breakfast, tasty lunches and dinners, and their staff made us feel truly welcome. All this, in spite of this being a very busy season for all of them! The hotel is a few minutes walk from the El Rocío shrine. Birders will appreciate the hotel's location next to the "Charco de la Boca" and will find a nature center just across the street from the hotel. We'd definitely stay at "La Malvasía" again!

Excellent value for a characterful building, lovely courtyard , very comfortable

Lots of character outside and in .Very comfortable bed and efficient heating which sadly was required. The check in was on line after which we were given the door code so we didn’t have contact with anyone until breakfast the next day , had this been a problem we did have a phone number. Room had all facilities and was spacious. Other rooms were smaller . We had a bit of noise from the next room ( to and chatter ) but nothing to cause a nuisance. Breakfast a bit limited but for the price we had no complaints . Would happily return . The hotel appears to be undergoing updating which is probably a constant requirement. Easy parking on the road . Short walk to the lagoon and the centre of ‘town ‘ Do not come here expecting night life ! Just relax and enjoy the scenery and wildlife

FASCINATING town, decent hostal
Reviewed By litprof2014First, Rocio is a FASCINATING town, which is definitely worth the visit. We came for the National Park -- and while that was nice, it wasn't THAT impressive. But the town itself is so interesting -- we arrived, and seeing the unpaved streets, the hitching posts instead of sidewalks, we wondered "what is going on here"? It is like the set of a Hollywood western, and as we began to learn why that was, it became even more interesting. On the hotel: We are family of 4 (2 parents; 2 college-age kids), who stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The apartment was spacious and clean, in a quiet building of other apartments. The apartment was about 100 yards from the main hotel property, where breakfast was served; the breakfast was good. Our main complaint was with the service and amenities: the tv in the room did not work (which was a problem because we wanted to watch the World Cup matches), and the wifi was incredibly weak. Both problems were solved by staff: they turned on the big-screen TV in the dining room just for us, to watch the game; and we used the wifi in the main lobby -- but it was inconvenient. The receptionist also incorrectly told us upon arrival that breakfast was included, when in fact it wasn't, and then they charged us in the end. BUT they recognized their mistake and corrected it, removing the charge. So while everything was good in the end, it required a little more effort on our part than would be idea.

Must if you want to look in the town
Reviewed By Snitch2014We stayed 3 nights over a weekend to make the most of the events going on in El Rocio. Pitches good size, sadly for us the rain had been falling a few days beforehand so it was mud everywhere. The ground is rather hard on some pitches. Receptionist was friendly. Bread sold in restaurant in the morning. Showers clean and hot water.

Simple hotel in beautiful town
Reviewed By inguspEl Rocio is really nice town, feels like going back in time when visiting it. As it was low season/ winter time, many places seemed deserted. Hotel building is really nice, with big terrace and nice lobby. Staff is not always present, so it’s important to agree on arrival time. Room was overlooking street where entrance is, but it was quite chilly during night. Wifi wasn’t working, but perhaps that was co-incident. Breakfast was cold slices and lots of packed stuff.

The receptionist was lovely and helpful, lovely quiet location whilst being a short walk from the centre of the town where we saw flamingos on the lake. Free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and water for guests was a lovely touch. Highly recommend coming here,
