Staff is helpful, but certain rooms need some updating
Reviewed By ThekansaspyetWe were checked into room 126; with king bed. We were starting to get unpacked when my husband turned on the water in the sink. It was HOT. He couldn't get the cold water faucet to give out cold water. Same with the bathtub. I reported the problem to reception. In the meantime, my husband reported that a socket sparked when he withdrew his cell phone charger. Reception came to check the water situation out, ran it in the sink and tub, and agreed with us, but said maintenance had probably gone home. So, they gave us room 118 which was a free upgrade, and we repacked and moved into that room. The bed was comfortable. We had breakfast the next morning in the dining room, it was typical Quality Inn-which was fine. The breakfast room was well kept, as was the lobby. In the morning when we checked out, reception said that maintenance had looked at rm 126 and the water was fine. Something was said about the pipes being hot when we checked into the room, so it took longer for the water to register to cold. Well, that was a "first" for us -in all the hotels we have stayed in so far. I think something should be adjusted with the water so that both guests and reception don't think something is amiss, in future.

Great hotel if you don't mind staying in the middle of nowhere
Reviewed By Carl PFound this hotel when searching for a place to stop for the night along I-10. Search results showed $79 per night pricing thru various web sites but promised an even better price if we call Holiday Inn Express direct. The Holiday Inn operator informed us that they would be giving us a slightly better price but that the total with taxes would end up as $117.00. Believing this to be the case, we booked the room (non refundable). Getting off I-10 at the Donaldsonville exit revealed a 8.4 mile ride to the hotel over one of the scariest one lane closed bridges we have ever been on! The hotel appeared fairly new, but we quickly discovered not a single sit down restaurant in the entire town! Fast food only, and it was not very good. To add insult to injury, at checkout we learned the total was $141.00, not the $117 verbally promised by the hotel booking agent. We will never stay here again!!

Reviewed By 760charlottedCheck in was easy. They are painting and cleaning up the lobby. Was given a room went into the room, bed looked like someone had sat on it and leaned on pillow. Husband went into bathroom and there was dirty washcloth in tub. Went to front desk and someone from housekeeping was leaving checked it out and we were given another room. Only Issue after that the smoke detector in hall kept going off because they were sanding the sheetrock and it thought it was smoke.

Reviewed By Taylor BConveniently situated on the west bank of the Mississippi River in the heart of Louisiana's River Road Plantation Country, near Oak Alley and Laura and Evergreen and Nottaway and Whitney, The Inn on the River is Donaldsonville's newest hotel and its first since the 1950s. Located at 416 Mississippi Street, at the corner of Mississippi and Lessard Streets, the 16-room boutique hotel is housed in a 1911 brick building that originally was home to Netter's Department Store. The hotel includes a business center with internet access, a fitness center, laundry facilities, vending area, outdoor grill, even a pool table in the lobby. It is adjacent to Gaston's Pub, a quaint neighborhood bar. My wife and I reserved a King DeLuxe Room with a view of the Mississippi River and the levee. It featured a four-poster King-size bed and dresser, flat screen TV, mini refrigerator, free high speed wi-fi, microwave and claw foot tub. With a continental breakfast for early risers. On our first trip to the River Road region several years ago, we stayed at an antebellum mansion in Napoleonville. But The Inn on the River is much closer to the action.

A Little Gem
Reviewed By Peter BLooking for a motel late in the afternoon we stumbled over this little gem hidden away right on the main road. Even though it was close to the road it had excellent sound dampening and it was the first motel we had stayed at with good quiet functioning air conditioning allowing for a good nights sleep. Very clean and obviously loved motel with both the owner/manager and housekeeper going out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.
