Luxury in Dumaguete!

Reviewed By Nelly D

I stayed at the atmosphere with friends for 5 days - we were a 12 PAX (6 kids and 6 adults). My friends were expecting similar experience as with the Shangri-La, I was not so my feedbacks are fairer! :) The resort is most definitely beautiful, grounds are kept pristine. The 2 main swimming pools were a hit with the kids. Rooms are huge, our bed was very comfy. Housekeeping was OK, but some effort should be made on amenities (for e.g. a 5* should typically provide disposable toiletries such as a toothbrush/toothpaste kit). Food was generally good, varied enough for 5 days but frankly overpriced. If you can, do hire a van/Taxi to go experience food (esp. seafood) in Dumaguete, you won't be disappointed! As for entertainment, the front beach is very nice for relaxing (swimming is rough though ). The resort has a PADI center. Our kids (8-15) got diving lessons with pro instructors who clearly were very good with kids, who had a blast and can't wait to do it again! The bar area was also entertaining, with 1 hour happy hour late afternoon. There is an open gym which is OK. The resorts also organizes some excursions, also grossly overpriced to be frank. Our trip to oslob was not a great experience. Finally, I must say that the service was excellent!. Staff are always pleasant and very responsive to guests' every need. All in all, I would rate our experience as good but not really value for money. But post pandemic, I am glad we did this!

Extraordinary Dive Resort in Dauin

Reviewed By dfmerges

I've just returned from my second trip to the Atlantis Dumaguete; the last was about 5 years ago. Since then, the resort is even better than it was before ! I brought a group of 4 friends, none of whom had been here before. From the moment of our arrival at the Dumaguete airport, we were treated like VIPS. The grounds are lush, stunning and meticulously groomed. Our rooms were large, spotless, large and well appointed. Beds were very comfortable. I cannot sing the praises of the Atlantis staff loudly enough. Everyone was outgoing, friendly, kind and very competent. They will all know your name by the end of your first day there. The cuisine at the resort restaurant was incredible at every meal. The dive crew were excellent, with a very special shout out to our dive guide Genie, who has the best eyes in the ocean ! The dive crew will handle your gear for you the entire trip, and even wash it for you on your last diving day. You will dive from the traditional Filipino bancas, large and stable in the water, or from smaller covered fast boats. The dive sites (except Apo Island) are all less than 10 minutes from the resort. Dauin is mainly a macro dive area (aka muck) with abundant small and unusual creatures. BE SURE you make the trip over to Apo Island for a day of stunning healthy reefs, hard and soft corals, abundant fish and some turtles. Bring some small bills to buy souvenir shirts from the women who canoe out to the dive boat at lunchtime. This is a VERY well run resort, with managers Kris and Marco actively "hands-on" and engaging with the guests. The Atlantis is truly a 5 star concierge level experience. My friends and and I are already planning our return trip !

great resort. shame about the owner.

we had - up until checking out - a good experience here. however, whilst checking out, the property couldnt get their card reader to work, which apparently necessitated a visit from the very obnoxious owner. due to his own property shortcomings, he felt it necessary to harangue me in the reception area over a bill of less than 6 euro. frankly, having worked in hospitality for over 20 years, i found his tone to be off, to say the least. I wont be back.

Good location, poor value

Reviewed By Niall O

Nice gardens, good location, friendly staff. Too much penny pinching and poor decisions by management. Our breakfast was included in the rate but coffee was powdered only. if you want normal coffee you have to pay extra. We were stopped at reception because we had a bottle of Diet Coke on our return. Outside food and drink not allowed on the property. (I am diabetic.) There was no complimentary water in the room (apart from an unsavoury looking plastic jug). Also there was ZERO housekeeping during our 5 day, 4 night stay. Our beachfront villa wasn’t reached by hotel Wi-Fi (though the gave the password for the room Wi-Fi anyway). The safety deposit box / vault didn’t work. Any efforts to have the hotel resolve these issues came to nothing. During this trip we stayed at four other hotels/resorts in the same price range but Pura Vida was massively over priced and was a poor offering.

Very organised and safe, decent prices

I am a professional diver and always search for the right combination of safety, service and price. This dive centre ticks all the boxes. Jinn looked after us from the start with helpful information about the dive trips. Kim the receptionist made everything super easy for me including paying with PayPal. The boats are huge, clean with fantastic boat crew. Veggo options for lunch and the food was great! For you Apo Island trip they include breakfast and lunch so it’s such great value. Our guide was a utter legend- Ray. An expert macro hunter with a very relaxed vibe. It was spectacular diving and I saw so many critters I didn’t even know existed. After you dives hang out and play some badminton or some cheap, cold beers. There’s hammocks and lounge chairs too. Very highly recommend!

Nice, quiet place but service can be better

Reviewed By MJ9713

The place is nice, the salt water infinity pool is beautiful. It's quiet. The two small pools however were dirty, and so was the CR. Also the service could be better. We had to ask for things twice. One thing I didn't like about it is that the only vegetarian option for the day package guests is a bland pizza margherita. A day package is 600 php per person, which is more than at most resorts in Dauin. And those other resorts offer a better variaty of vegetarian options.
