Very nice hotel a regular for us

El Chalet, a family run 3 star hotel on a wonderful beach is very popular with locals and foreign visitors. Refurbished about 5 years ago with excellent rooms, particularly those on the top floors overlooking the beach. It has a superb terrace restaurant on the beach and excellent food- particularly Paellas. Young families will enjoy the ability to eat lunch in peace whilst the children enjoy the mini pool or the climbing frame on the beach in clear sight, just 15 metres from the restaurant when Mum and Dad enjoy a brandy or two. Two sons, Pepe and Andreas, now run the hotel with good attentive staff. The rooms are clean with balconies and one with a large terrace on the top floor. Buses to nearby Cullera with its mountain top castle, or the station to Valencia pass the front door every 30 minutes. It doesn't have a lounge as such,(as we would recognise one), but hardly needed in summer season. We have been going for years, as have our children and grandchildren. Thoroughly recommended.

Poor safety standard with no smoke alarm or fire extinguisher. Gas cannisters are present and there is no safety value.

Reviewed By Abastock

There are no safety provisions in the apartment I have visited. No smoke alarm or fire extinguisher. Gas cannisters are present and there is no safety valve. The photos shown on various booking sites are general and not of the specific apartment you may be given. The apartment had unclean beds which were sandy, and the bathroom=m facilities were from the 1970s. Little equipment in the kitchen, no kettle, toaster or extractor, and as already mentioned the gas hob, powered by separate gas cannister does not have a safety switch. Also, we were given one key for 4 people. You need a fob to get in and out of various gates and the pool, and it means you have to go together.

Perfect hotel for a few days rest

Reviewed By Jamie C

Stayed here for 3 nights on our trip to cullera. Staff was very friendly, messaged them before we arrived asking for a beach views room and we got it. The room was very big, nice bed and very clean. There is a small fridge very handy to keep a bit food and drinks to enjoy in the terrace. The place was a little quiet in may but cullera city is just 10 minutes driving away. Would return for another chill holiday

Camping Santa Marta

Right in the Heart of nature, sea and hill country, in Santa Marta nature reserve. The Top Class Camping site is located in a pine spinney in a nature reserve located right on Cullera mountain, just 100 metres from the Raco "Cullera" beach. The Raco "Cullera" beach has one of the blue flags that have been awarded to Cullera's beaches, being considered ideal for children, through its fine white sand, and the peaceful and safe water conditions, where one can enjoy all kinds of activities and water sports (sailing, windsurf, underwater diving, fishing, canoeing,etc...)

Nice campsite

Out of season when we arrived. Roads a little narrow on site but fine. I imagine the site will be very busy with plenty of activities in high season. Good pitches and excellent toilet/shower facilities. A 5 minute walk to the promenade.

Hotel Carabela 2

Cozy familiar hotel, with personal treatment, which has prioritized the quality and comfort of its guests since 1984. We are in continuous improvement and adaptation to the suggestions of our guests to make their stay unforgettable. The hotel is located opposite San Antonio Park, a distance of 250 meters from the large bay of Cullera. This location provides our customers proximity to both the promenade and the old town.

Ideally base for exploring Cullera.

We had spotted this hotel while on a previous self catering visit to this popular Spanish seaside town and decided to try it out which we did in late October, 2012. We are delighted to report that in our opinion it was a good choice in every respect. We were warmly welcomed on arrival, and given exactly the type of room & situation in the building, and even a real double bed, which we prefer to two singles which often are shoved together to look like a double, until you fall down between them during the night! The hotel is long established but has been very well maintained and was spotlessly clean both in the room and in the public areas. We would recommend that one should request a room to the front of the hotel which looks over the car parking area, to the San Antonio public park, and has the sun from morning until evening. This is a much better outlook than to the back which would only afford a very close and gloomy view of the next building, We were privileged to be given room 115 which was a first floor corner room with a huge wrap round terrace, the largest at this hotel. It appears that the odd numbered rooms are to the front and the evens are to the rear, on all floors. The down side is of course some noise from late night motor scooters and the early morning refuse truck, but this is Spain after all. The included breakfast was the normal Spanish or continental type which is quite adequate and was pleasantly served by staff in the small dining room. Apparently they fully operate their restaurant only during the summer months when one can have lunch or dinner as required. There is a large Consum supermarket immediately behind the Carabela where one can purchase snacks and drinks. The hotel also has several excellent cafes in the vicinity where one can find tapas and sandwiches. There are a few Spanish bar/restaurants nearby doing excellent menu del dia lunches for under 10€. We found that if we bought lunch then a couple of tapas were fine for our evening needs. All in all, this hotel was perfect for us and in our opinion gave excellent value for money. One small thing has to be said, and very quietly. Cullera has relatively few hotels, and as a result has thankfully managed to escape the attentions of UK tour operators. It is still completely Spanish. There are no British bars, no Sunday roasts, no loud music or tat shops, and in fact, in two years we have only once heard English being spoken. The locals and shop staff do not offer to speak English, and we suspect that without Spanish, it might be difficult to get what you wish in a bar or restaurant, as there do not seem to be menus in English either. Only once in a Chinese restaurant did the waiter attempt to converse in English to us but it soon transpired that he was much better able to do his job speaking in Spanish with us, So this can be your secret escape in Spain, SSSHHHHHHHH.......

The restaurant is the best vale and quality I have had in ages…. I met the chef who is young, talented and ambitious (he rents the restaurant off the hotel (dinner only) hence the difference in quality) …. The “taster” menu is awesome… try it now before he is three times the price in Madrid. Now to the “tryst” part….My wife booked this as an anniversary surprise with a “romantic” package.. Firstly carpark full… I politely asked for alternative and was told “I don’t know but you can’t leave it there” .we entered the room with eyes closed and…… NOTHING… no champagne, petals, ambient lighting, soft music (as promised)….they will call us back. Put on tv and wait TV NOT WORKING overall we rang to say tv not working 3 TIMES…NADA…STILL NOT WORKING AS I WRITE WAITING TO LEAVE. back to the romance…. Nothing happened so eventually we went downstairs to complain… we waited another hour for our “surprise” to be organised and then we were shown in by the cleaner (yes the romance can’t get much higher right?)…. She showed us in to the same room with fake candles that flickered but did not change, a Bluetooth speaker that did not work (did I mention the tv?) not working…. What a shambles….. they offered to scrap the romantic surprise package cost… how generous having waited two hours and left completely disappointed! Showered before dinner (no soap) Avoid this hotel but sincerely…stay in Cullera. Not here. and DO TRY THE RESTAURANT TASTER MENU IN THIS HOTEL (€30)it’s great!

OK hotel for a short stay

Reviewed By Dushy73

The hotel is quite big and very close the beach. The rooms are also quite spacious with good size terrace and have all the basic amenities apart from more sockets in the room - we had 2 in ours and struggled to charge a few of the electronics at the same time. Offering for breakfast was average - we would have expected more from a 4* hotel though.
