The best available hotels & places to stay near Cannon Beach

July 23, 2022 Enriqueta Cusson

With the distinctive Haystack Rock and Needles marking its shoreline, Cannon Beach is one of Oregon's quaintest and most picturesque destinations. Nine miles of beach make a perfect setting for strolling along the seaside, watching diverse wildlife in its natural habitat and building a sand castle in the annual sand castle building contest. With strict regulations in place limiting the infiltration of large chain stores or restaurants, Cannon Beach retains its small town charm.

Inn at Cannon Beach

This beautifully wooded property at the quiet south end of Cannon Beach takes full advantage of the beauty of its' natural setting. The architecture and scale of the inn is very residential and cottage-like. Some guests have equated the feel of The Inn at Cannon Beach to a very high end summer camp for adults and families. The warm natural wood exteriors provide a rustic backdrop for the breathtaking native plants, perennials and long blooming annuals that color the property throughout much of the year. Fragrant garden paths with towering spruce trees meander between the various cabin-like buildings creating a sense of escape. The Inn’s central courtyard serves as a social gathering place for guests to come together in a beautiful woodland setting. Many find a sunlit bench the perfect spot to begin a new novel or to enjoy the wind in the trees. Our naturalized pond and it’s flowering borders is a center piece of the courtyard and attracts small wildlife and birds of many sorts. Voluptuous hanging flower baskets fill the walkways with fragrance and the occasional beat of hummingbird wings.Guest rooms are warm and inviting with all the comforts of home. The rooms are cozy and enjoyable on a stormy winter day with the fireplace ablaze and a good book. And when the sun is out, guests throw open the windows to enjoy the birdsong and salt sea air, taking their book outdoors.

Great pet friendly hotel

I loved my experience at this hotel. It was just one night, I wish I had stayed longer. The hotel is very cute, pretty gardens all around the property. Staff is really friendly and the hotel is truly per friendly. They provide a water bowl and a bag full of cookies for the dog. They also leave a bag of candies in the room for the guests. A lot of small details that really make a difference. The room is simple, but big enough with a balcony. There’s a sink, a microwave, a coffee machine and a fridge. In the cabinets there were wine glasses and coffee mugs individually wrapped. The room as very clean as well. Breakfast is also really good, a lot of options for every taste. I will come back!

Cozy Boutique Hotel

The room we had was even nicer than the one pictured for Classic Queen. The shower is very small, but works perfectly; it has good pressure and temp. The electric fireplace was easy to use and didn't haven't any connection problems with tv. The room also has a small ceiling fan and the window can be opened. Staff were available when calling and arriving. The check-in and out process was very easy. Was also able to get some great food recommendations within walking distance. It's a beautiful and convenient place to stay by the beach. It was the perfect place for a quiet couples retreat. Our window faced the nearby road but barely heard the sound of traffic on the weekend. The only reason why I'd hesitate to book for longer than 2 nights is because of the bed. The one in the room felt like it sank towards the center, even in the first night. It was only a two night stay, but both times woke up with soreness. A few morning stretches helped work it out. But I loved that there was salt water taffy left in our room and in the lobby for guests to enjoy.

We loved our stay at the Inn at Haystack Rock! Our cottage was perfect. Loved that it had a full kitchen, we enjoyed a lovely dinner in. After dinner I enjoyed a nice bath in the very large jetted tub. Also, love that they provide bath robes. The walk to the beach was a block away and Haystack Rock was a short walk down the beach. I have no complaints about our stay here. My family and I will definitely be returning for another stay here. I highly recommend the Inn at Haystack Rock.

A lovely overnight stay for my family

Reviewed By 348carynt

I remember Cannon Beach when it was a quiet, laidback, simple sort of place where ordinary people could afford to take their families. In recent years it’s gone through a horrific process of gentrification as it’s been hammered by an influx of tourists. The Harrison Street Inn reminded me of old Cannon Beach, quaint Cannon Beach. Sure, the interiors were a little dated, but the place was clean and comfortable and cozy, and I appreciated far more than any new glitzy remodel being able to take my family and dog on an impulsive overnight trip to the coast and have a place to stay in town that didn’t run me $350+ in the middle of January. Other hotels were fully booked, didn’t allow pets, or had minimum nightly stays (in January?!?!). I was able to book a room here the night before our trip. Sandra was very helpful in booking the room, and the process was contact free. We were able to enter our room early- another bonus. Since the inn is in the middle of town, we could walk everywhere. And the room, while bijou, had all the essentials and was well stocked. In amenities this isn’t a five star hotel. But Cannon Beach as an experience and destination has always been five stars for me, and being able to give my child that experience at a price I could afford is worth more than stars. I’m thankful for my stay at the Harrison and would recommend it to those who value experiences over appearances. Thank you for a lovely stay, and we hope to return!

Beautiful accommodations and first class customer service

I spent three nights in room 11 at the Courtyard. I enjoyed a five star stay. The new mattress is the best hotel mattress I have ever slept upon . The new owners have done a fabulous job in upgrading the look of the rooms while still keeping the relaxed at the beach feel. Though a dumb move on my part, I managed to knock off a curtain rod which allowed the the beautiful, heavy 7 foot high curtain for the sliding glass door to pool on the floor. It was about 8 PM when I created this problem. I called the front desk to ask for help. In less than five minutes Mindy was at my door, step stool in hand and a kind smile on her face. She had the curtain back up in just a couple of minutes. We were chatting and laughing the entire time. She made me feel like there was nothing else she’d rather be doing than helping me. That is excellent customer service! If you want a very comfortable, immaculately clean place to stay with a staff who all deliver excellent customer service, the Courtyard is the place for you.

superb visit at the waves cannon beach! we had originally planned to stay one night and ended up staying 3, would have been more if work didn’t get in the way. Each night we stayed we promptly phoned the front desk asking for another night, to which they accommodated us quickly and with ease. We had to switch rooms each night because the one we were in had been booked already. They allowed us to stay in the current room beyond checkout while they got the new room ready for us. Each room we stayed in was beyond adequately stocked with all the necessities; blankets, towels, pillows, toiletries, kitchen utensils etc. we even had an unfortunate incident while attempting to take a photo out the window we dropped our phone and couldn’t get to it! we had to make the embarrassing phone call to the front desk to ask for assistance which they didn’t have to give bring it was our mistake but Mary & Paula rushed to our rescue and were out there with us with keys, flashlights, communication and the most positive attitudes! turned out we didn’t need to be embarrassed at all; they made us feel like it was all okay and even gave us the nickname “trouble” when they saw us again for one of our room switches. the waves is in a beautiful location and offers gorgeous views, a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and so much more. we cannot wait to go back to cannon beach and we will not be staying anywhere other than The Waves!

Lovely Stay in Cannon Beach

We cannot say enough good things about our recent stay. The room was spacious and clean, with a small balcony and view of the ocean. Not oceanfront, but close enough to enjoy the sound of the waves. The kitchen was stocked with all the basics needed, and there is a great grocery store right across the street. Although we did not cook much, we definitely enjoyed having the option readily available. The location is great, slightly removed from the crowds of Cannon Beach/Haystack, but an easy walk to the beach where you could walk and enjoy the sights. We spent both evenings walking the beach at sunset...it was so beautiful! Then, we cozied up in the room with the fireplace and some clam chowder from Moe's. It's one of my new favorite places to stay for a weekend getaway. Enjoyed the hot tub as well!

We came for another visit in Feb 2022 and loved it again. Stayed in room 203 this time. Everything is so clean and the hosts are so welcoming. Hannah was on a birding trip, so we got to meet her mother who use to own the place. She was absolutely delightful to chat with. This is a dog friendly place. The rooms are a great size and they have fireplaces and small kitchens minus a stove... Micro wave and coffee makers, fridge and plenty of dishes and what you may need. They have a variety of movies in the office for your use as well. We just love this place, it's a walk across to our favorite beach area and a quick walk to Sleepy Monk Coffee or Screw and Brew ( good fish and chips there) Also the Pelican Brewery is a close walk and you can see Haystack Rock. What else could you ask for? If you want to walk to downtown Cannon Beach it won't take you long. Thanks again for a great time, we will be back again in August.
