Cheap & Basic

Reviewed By mariuss243

As with all holidays, it’s about cost, quality and convenience. This hotel is good value for basic accommodation located next to the rushing river (Doron de Bozel). There is no tea or coffee facilities in the room or fridge in the room. The parking is really tight. If you are looking at Brides Les Bains as a ski base I’d recommend finding something closer to the slopes in Meribel or Courchevel as it takes up to an hour before you are actually skiing so that’s 1.5 hours out of your day. The Olympic gondola is 800m away. Pre-hire your skis and boots online from Intersport at the Olympic gondola and hire lockers up there to avoid lugging gear around. The town has a small selection of restaurants and bars and a Spar convenience store. We really enjoyed the Creperie next to the Mercure Hotel the food was excellent as was the lovely manager. Try the Raclette it’s superb! If you are going in summer for the spa bath then note that there has been a bacterial problem which has closed the facility for the past year or so which can cause a skin rash. The source water is fine it looks like a problem with the pipes which they are currently replacing with stainless steel.

Excellent hotel

We stayed here during a cycling trip. The hotel was comfortable, centrally located and very cyclist-friendly (including secure bike storage). We booked half-board and the food was really good. The best thing about this hotel though was the customer service. The proprietor couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. If you like to support independent hotels then definitely give this one a try.

The owner ( a lady a little grunge ) of the hotel rent the rooms normally to the people working in the ski resort. How dare they renting that for 90 euros a night????

The hotel is in the centre of Brides Les Bain, near the bus stop tourist office. It is a big building with modern forniture. My room has been upgraded for free. I had a big room with two balconies. The breakfast is very good good. The thermes are not connected to the hotel and there is no special reduction for hotel guests. Inside the hotel there is a SPA.

Comfortable, Clean, Friendly

I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. Our room was beautifully cleaned every day and was warm. We had control over the room heaters too which was great in the cold weather. The gondola to Meribel is nearby (5 minute walk) and was great for our ski trip. The gondola closed towards the end of our trip but a bus service was promptly put in place instead. The spa nearby was really lovely too. The staff in the hotel were charming, approachable and warm. And we loved the raclette evening! Would absolutely recommend.

Good access and fine dining

Reviewed By vanjo22

Most interesting about this hotel is the restaurant. Part of the service is a good breakfast and a great dinner. Every day they served a magnificent meal, and of course, you can order a good glass of wine as well (it is in France, so it should not be a surprise). The rooms were OK, a bit small (especially the bathroom) and old-fashioned. And the access to the ski lift is perfect; only 200m or so.

La Vanoise 1825

A short and very pleasant Coronavirus-busted stay

Reviewed By MikeGraham100

We arrived early on Saturday for a week's skiing, got a great day's skiing and then heard in the evening that Macron had decided to close France. So our holiday was not quite what we had in mind when we booked it! Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Vanoise. The rooms were larger than many ski hotel rooms that I have stayed in, and they were clean and comfortable. The food was decent. The bar was busy and full of atmosphere, and it had a large terrace - a nice place to be when the weather is good. The staff were as pleasant and helpful as we could have hoped for. Even after they had learnt about the shut-down (which inevitably meant that most of them would very soon be out of work), they did all they could possibly do to make our last day at the hotel enjoyable. Overall, given that it falls into the budget category, La Vanoise punched well above its weight on almost all measures. My only complaint was that the usual ski & boot room that you would expect to find at a skiers' hotel was not up to scratch. It was a portakabin located 2 - 3 minutes' walk away between the hotel and the Meribel gondola station. It wasn't locked during the day. Skis could be secured using an inconvenient padlock and chain, but there was no way to secure footwear. I believe the room was locked between 20:00 and 08:00. I would rate La Vanoise 1 out of 5 for ski/boot storage facilities, but 4 out of 5 for everything else. If you are here for skiing and are happy with the 25 minute gondola ride to and from Meribel (and the 5 minute uphill walk to the gondola station), this is a great place to stay.

Great location for skiing with telecabin to Meribel only a short walk away

Reviewed By 137mandis

We stayed here for 6 nights to access the ski resorts of the 3 valleys. The telcabin is a short walk from the hotel and takes you to the centre of meribel where you can access Courcheval and Val Thorens. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the rooms are generous in size and very comfortable with plenty of accessories in the bathroom. There are tea and coffee making facilities but no milk however there is a small Spar a short walk away. There is free parking on site and a small sauna. Breakfast is buffet style and adequate but a bit lacking in cereal choice, otherwise plentiful and fresh.

Paid double what we planned!

Reviewed By MariaS1159

We found the hotel via booking.com where the price was 110-120Euro per night for our stay. After asking if we can bring a small dog with us via email they asked us to send a deposit of 240Euro for 4 nights directly to their account and not to go via booking. When checking out today, we found the price was now 94Euro per person, so we had to pay almost double what we initially planned!! Going back to the tariffs they sent via email there were two rates for each room category and I had assumed wrongly that the higher price of 120 is the room price - same as in booking - for two but it turned out the second column of 94 was the price per person! What a sneaky scam, never stepping my foot there again! Shame! Find a much better spa hotel with mineral baths next door - it turns out that is actually cheaper!
