Wonderful location and views.

One of the best approaches to a hotel I have experienced - right through the massive fortifications - amazing. But receiving a map with the booking confirmation would help navigation and getting the traffic bollard access code. Wonderful views over the river. But swimming pool not clean with significant debris. Breakfast just adequate - cold scrambled eggs and cold bacon on buffet. But liked ability to squeeze fresh orange juice. Would have liked to have stayed an extra day to explore Citadelle more, but no room with a/c available. Staff very helpful. Room clean and plenty hot water. Hope to return some day.

Stunning room in a quaint hotel

Reviewed By Rob R

Stayed for 1 night end route to visit family, and I'm so glad I chose this place. We were greeted by the owner that not only understood my terrible french, but spoke very good English. The room was large, bright and very clean..the bathroom was clean and bright, with a separate wc which was either a plus or a minus depending on your point of view. The bed had a fabulous memory foam mattress which afforded an excellent nights sleep, there were 4 choices of breakfast I chose the express which was plentiful. The only downside was the lack of restaurant in the evening which was only a minor disappointment as if the room and breakfast were anything to go by would have provided an excellent evening meal..this does not warrant a whole star loss but I can't give 1/2 stars So to sum up an amazing hotel I'd be happy to stay in again

So good a quick stop off turned in to 3 nights!

Travelling through France with no plans (allegedly camping!!), we thought Blaye looked like a good over nighter. Ended up staying 3 wonderful days! Lara, Les and Clarissa are fantastical warm and welcoming people, so helpful and friendly. Les’s wine tour was the most enjoyable one we’ve ever been on (to be honest we would of paid just to listen to him, he’s funny, fascinating and charming, let alone to sample 75 Euro a bottle wine!) The Villa was perfect for us, bright airy room, lovely furniture and pictures and having a kitchen there was perfect! We bought many goodies on market day, a bottle of fabulous wine from Les’s shop and took a picnic to the park just across the street, pure heaven! The area is beautiful, many things to do and see, so despite being on a camping holiday we stayed 3 nights! Thanks so much for helping us achieve this Lara, you also gave us some fabulous tips on where to go and what to see (La Marina and Big Red Bus, where the sunsets were stunning, we loved!) we hope if you’re ever in Shropshire you’ll come and visit us! Jo and Stuart. x

We spent a weekend in this beautiful chambre d'hote in walking distance from the citadel and town centre, which has been renovated with taste. The bedrooms are spacious and very well equipped, and decorated with taste. The hosts, Helena and Fernando are welcoming and can't do enough to make your stay pleasurable. Fantastic breakfast with a great choice, shared at the large dining table infront of a roaring fire.

Advantage Car Rental : Scam Pricing and Service

Reviewed By 801lorrainet

I reserved a car through Priceline and then Expedia for Advantage Car Rental. When I got there they asked for a utility bill because I was “local.” N one of this is in ANY site including their own. Then, they did the bate and switched by telling me that mileage wasn’t unlimited as advertised and reserved. I ended up not being able to get service after traveling 40 minutes to get to the place and be dismissed with this garbage. A TOTAL waste. Would NEVER recommend them.

Just exceptional - nothing but praise for the place and owners

Reviewed By RealHenley

Rarely do I find a place that I cannot find fault with - but this is one. It's simply brilliant and far surpassed our expectations. The room was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The wine supplied was fab. The bathrooms modern and luxurious, with plenty of towels and toiletries supplied. The owners don't live in the house, so the downstairs is for the residents, and includes a well equipped kitchen with private fridges. There's fresh fruit provided, as well as bottled water. And the breakfast! OMG!!! You couldn't want for more. Good quality, tasty and plentiful. We wandered over the road to the owner's winery afterwards and had a tour and a tasting. Just brilliant. I can't wait to go back again and cannot recommend more highly.

Wonderful Louis XVI-style apartment in 18th century chateau

Reviewed By demunnick

Now this is a truly marvelous place, lovingly brought back to historic grandeur by Jemma, her husband and her mother Ann. The builder of the chateau, one Barthélemy de Bavolier, was somebody important during the time of Louis XVI. In the spirit of the late king Jemma has furnished the apartment we were staying in, in a faux Louis XVI-style (you don’t have to worry about putting a wineglass on the furniture ?). Rooms were spotlessly clean, large bathroom, nice kitchenette, your own terrace, bbq available, lounge set on the chateau-lawn. Highlight of your stay: a chance encounter with Ann, covered in dust, tiling a room or helping plumbers. Jemma is the perfect host, trying to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The surroundings are very quiet.

Beautiful town Villa in Blaye

Reviewed By Stephen B

Situated in the centre of the picturesque town of Blaye on the Bordeaux Dordogne estuary this villa is a hidden charm. The villa is hidden behind a non descript door but once inside it is a haven of quiet and restfulness. We enjoyed our 2 night stay here in September and would visit Blaye again as we did not get time to fully explore the town.
